Almost impossible to cancel service. After a hour on the phone with customer service and transferred several times, they keep asking the same questions over and over. It took over an hour on the phone and then was told they could not do it over the phone they had to send a email, and after that it would take 30 days. Scam. Then continued to spam me with emails for referral offers.Review fromJeneane G

super easy to sign up and get a tech to install new equipment, IMPOSSIBLE to get a tech to your house if equipment breaks which it will. three pieces of equipment broke within a year, absolute trash. this company is a scam and i regret this investment immensely.Review fromKatherine R

Started with Vivint maybe 4 years ago. Since day one of installation one of cameras on the driveway was not working. Called them back several times and finally demanded a new camera and adjustment to my monthly bill. They gave me have a months bill restitution. Within another month of the new system I started having problems. The cameras wouldnt work, cameras went off line, no playback on video content that was alerted to, etc. The image would be distorted, the screen is blank, cameras wouldnt playback. Cameras dont capture events at all. Every complaint call would be at least 2 hours to reset issues. After 2 years when called to report an issue they said there was no longer a contract so paying serviceman would be my responsibility to fix problems.I had evidence that someone came into my home with nothing being recorded on the Vivint system. Deputy said that most likely the invader had a wifi jammer, which means that a device was used to block signals to the security system. When Vivint was asked about using jammers, they said it is illegal in *****************. So is breaking and entering. They will not address that issue? I have NOT recently used the system because of false alarms. Deputies have had three false alarms. After the 4th false alarms the county will start charging me. Again calling would be a minimum of two hours.Complied with all the system changes that were needed and the system still gives false alarms and still doesn't work properly. Then there is the issue of dealing with foreign country personnel, I refused to put my personal information out to a foreigner. I have had my bank account hacked and it isnt fun to deal with, very time consuming and frustrating to say the least. I have paid off the equipment which I was reluctant to do, now trying to cancel my system. They said I am still in a contract that is due in 2025. I refuse to pay Vivint any more money for their crappy system. I want no more part of this scam of a company.Review fromBrian W

Vivint Smart Home...well than being overpriced and hard to work with unless they need something or want to sell you more products. Don't sign up. I guess this is why they are not BBB-accredited. Sold the house in April 2024 and canceled the service. Sent the required asks after multiple phone calls. I spoke with them today and...get this. Due to the fact that we are processing so many cancellations, it has caused a delay and will be processed July 18th. Any fees charged after this will be refunded. Oh...Wow Thank you, so generous!! What about May and June? Can I give a 0.01 star?Review fromChristine O

We were on contract with Vivint for five years. After our contract ended but we still had service with them, we tried to get some video footage from them, and found out that they had never kept any of our recordings. We did not have access to anything other than 20 second clips. They were also not monitoring our system despite the fact that they said they were And they were charging us monthly to monitor it.We were moving and decided not to continue our service. At this point we had been with them for 6 1/2 years. I requested cancellation, which should've been granted easily considering we were out of our contract term. After three weeks charged my card again. Over a month later I still do not have a cancellation on my service nor do I have an answer as to when I will get my money back, they claimed that it was because of their call that they could not process cancellations quickly but every time I called and spoke to someone, I got the absolute runaround about how cancellations work and how someone else had to do it. Time and time again someone else had to do it, but they didn't have the power to cancel. I had to listen to their spiel 16 times about how they could get me a better rate. So instead of agreeing to cancel my service, they just tried to **** me back in. They kept telling me I could cancel, but refused to actually cancel my service. The made me call back in again and again and again in hopes that I would not follow through and they could continue to charge my card.I have never had another service that was so difficult to cancel. They won't even send me an email confirmation that cancellation is in progress.I do not recommend using that service for security and home monitoring.Review fromJarred M

Was looking at getting Vivint home security with a doorbell camera, outdoor camera, 2 panels, and 7 sensors, smart lock, and a motion sensor. These door to door salesman sales pressure tactic are slick as a freshly covered street with ice. They promise you everything to the sun while getting a pro installation which by far is sub par. If you pay attention to the internet advertising as well as their sales pitch does not add up. They will try to charge you either low monthly service fee and high equipment fees or high service fees with medium priced equipment. I would highly recommend not getting their services or equipment. I am extremely not happy as they continued to not have the best service. Crappy customer service. Im so fed up with these companies lying and manipulating these deals.Review fromCharletta M

If I could I would leave a zero for Vivint nor refer any person to use them. I am a Vivint Customer that recently moved to a new apartment and lost my job. I called Vivint to cancel my service because of my past due account balance, advise that I lost my job on 6/28/24, also advised my new landlord does not allow hard wired security systems. I also asked for the address to return all of the equipment. Per Aveanna at Vivint **************** to cancel my contract it will cost $1926.39 and they do not offer any alternative repayment plans or assistance even though I am unemployed. She ask how long will I be unemployed. I responded I do not know because I am job hunting now. ******* stated I could just leave the alarm system in my old apartment and have the new tenants pay the bill. I told her absolutely not because they will be strangers and I will not trust strangers to take over my account and possibly not pay the bill. I requested to speak with her supervisor and she asked why because they will tell me the same thing. While holding to speak with her supervisor the call dropped. I have not heard back from the supervisor. The billing team at Vivint keep attempting to debit $176.41 from my account when the current bill is not due. I am so frustrated and disappointed in Vivint and how they use predatory practices to keep unemployed customer stuck in a contract and pay for a system that cannot be used at my new apartment. I will also file a complaint to the ************************ and State of Utahs Attorney General for further assistance.Review fromJennifer S

If i could give them no stars, i would. This the worst system i had so far. The concept is there, the technology is not. This was a money grab and they (vivint) said that Im in a five contract. Never did i sin any for five years. Ive had the system for less than 3 mos and Ive call them everyday to complain. One person told me i could replace the batteries in system. I refused to buy the batteries myself. This is a money grab. I want out. I can not use the system but they never fail to bill me every month. More to come. But do not go vivint if you want your home to be secure.Review fromMastafa J

I have been with Vivint for 12 months since I bought all the equipment from previous home owner. Despite owning the alarm system, cameras and everything that comes with the service, vivint still to let me be on no contract. Remember the previous owner was not on any contract since he owned all the equipment. I agreed to since 12 month contract since I was bought all the equipment. Within 30 days , my cameras and doorbell started break and was very slow. I called vivint customer service and started to hear the same story over and over. Pushing me to buy new equipment. I was concerned because the representative seemed like he was either under pressure to make a sale. Very sad situation. They refused to assist after few minutes and often will remind you of how new equipment will have better quality and you won't be going through trouble. I honest have no idea how I started to pay $35 and end up paying $54 at the end of my contract. During cancelation. GOOD LUCK.. They are trained to make you frustrated and passing you from one representative to another "allegedly ". I spent days if not weeks trying to cancel.. I had to go to ****** and search on how to cancel vivint security account. I would like someone to reach out to me and send me the contact that I signed cause my bank statement shows different amount taken over the 11 months. I woild never do business again with vivint and I advice you to do the same. Bad experience..Please ve aware of representatives. They are overseas and care s more when selling you equipment bit very unprofessional when cancelation. 1st time reporting on BBB and I'm little frustratedReview fromNicole C

I would not recommend this company and would give less than a 1 star review.I signed a 60 month contract with Vivint in June of 2019.October of 2023, I contacted them that I would be selling my home and how to I cancel service; I was connected with ****************** and they told me to call back when I was moving.December of 2023, I contacted the ****************** to cancel service; they tried to have me work with the new owner to continue the contract; that was not possible. They offered a buy out of the remaining of the contract (6 months) and then the next day, I was advised I had to pay the entire amount remaining on the contract. I advised them to cancel and to bill the remaining amount; I just wanted out of the contract and I no longer owned the home.Fast forward a few months, I am still getting collection calls about the account; I call back several times and I was reassured the account would be closed.April 2024, they took 4 monthly payments out of my bank account. I reached out to them and was assured again that the account would be cancelled and the money reimbursed to my account. May 2024, still getting collection calls, no money reimbursed, another call and they say I owe for 1 month but they would credit me that month because of how long this was taking, and cancel account.June into July 2024, still getting collection calls, invoices sent to old address for money owed, called again to straighten out and cancel the account.Hours upon hours of time spend trying to cancel the account on a home that I no longer own.I hope after 7 months, that I can finally get this account cancelled.
