Have had VIVINT since I had this new home built In June 2018. I selected VIVINT based on lower price than ADT which I had had for 19 years in my previous home. VIVINT technology at the time was also superior. It still is but ADT and new competitors are catching up fasct. My problem with VIVINT started when Ix upgraded the entire system in August 2023. Reaching the sales department to buy a Reaching the sales department to buy an upgraded system was easy. But the upgrade was badly botched by a technician, ***, who didnt know how all the new devices. The trouble started as soon as he said he had to go to another job, didnt have a new fire sensor with him and couldnt connect MyQ to VIVINT. It cost me $300 to get a garage door opener company to come out. VIVINT tech said he had to go to another job, but would come back and fix it but I called numerous times, always got voicemail. He said not to call VIVINT. He would return to fix it. But he never did. I have called VIVINT Customher Support thats when I found out that VIVINT had moved iCustomer Support offshrore. 50% of the people could not speak enough English to even understand my problem. There was no longer any second level technical support. I learned VIVINT had. been acquired by NRG in April 2021, moved Customer Support offshore and eliminated second level technical support. Customer Support used to be very good. Now its useless. *** spent many hours trying to get to problems resolved that required a technician on site. It took over two weeks to get someone scheduled. VIVINT offers every customer a $300 referral fee plus $300 discount to their friend If they buy the system. I value my friends a lot more than $300. I told them so. Nothing has changed. I wont refer anyone to VIVINT until I am convinced they have moved customer service back to *****, **** and reinitiated second level technical support. competitors catching up with them. When I am ready for a new system, I will be looking for someone else.

Vivint as a security system is fantastic, but as a company, they treat customers terribly. The verbiage the salesmen use deliberately takes attention away from the fact that you are taking out a loan for the equipment they want to install in your home. Then, they create this convoluted cancellation process that brings on the brunt of the work on customers who have to make time to call a number that will route their call through different departments, with agents who while very kind, are sometimes difficult to understand, so that they can talk me through multiple steps requiring proof and answering questions about cancelling my account. I had to repeat this process several times over a year and a half before coming to the BBB for help.TL/DR: DON'T GO WITH THIS COMPANY, CANCELLING YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE A NIGHTMARE

A Vivint rep came to my door at 9:40 PM on a Saturday night. Sketchy sales people with no boundaries. Wouldnt trust this company with anything, let alone to secure my home. Stay away.

Systems NEVER works! Always malfunctions. This a brand new system and it has never worked more than three days at a time. Garage door opens and closes by its self. We are never secure by a Security system that is to protect my family. Rather, Vivint Security System lets people come in my garage and go shopping! All we are asking is for Vivint to take the system out at no charge to us and credit us for the last three months that it did not secure our home and family! The sooner the better.

Run, don't walk! Vivint is the most unethical company I have ever encountered. We got a system five years ago, but we don't use any of its features. We have paid off the equipment and the five-year plan and want to cancel the monthly subscription. There is nowhere to do this in your online account. You can only call the Loyalty staff. We have called twice. After TWO extremely long phone calls, we still haven't been able to cancel our subscription. The Loyalty staff responds to every request to cancel with a new monthly plan option. The last guy even said, "If we would just listen and stop cutting him off, he is trying to help,"...and then proceeded to discuss other plan options. We have asked to speak to supervisors, but "they are unavailable." I have never encountered anything like this company. We have even chatted online with the billing department. They say only a phone call to the ****************** will work. We have spent several hours in attempts to cancel our plan and have not succeeded. We have contacted the Better Business Bureau in ******* and are informing all neighbors who bought in when we did. This is by far the worst company I have ever worked with. I honestly have never experienced anything like this. RUN DON'T WALK!!!!!

They installed our system left holes in our wall and our bolt lock is not lined up which means we can lock the doors. I called and asked a technician to come fix the problems. They told me they couldnt come for a week or two and told me I could pay a lock *****. **************** is terrible. I then asked to just come take it down suddenly Im past my trial period 2 days since it was put up. Beware of using this shady company.

CANNOT GIVE 0 STARS. I have tried to cancel when I first moved and they refuse to cancel and threatened to mark it in credit report. They do not check to see if the system is active as long as they are getting paid, but the moment you miss a payment they call you up to 4 times daily like a loan shark. They will not cancel the surveillance portion of the service if you have a running balance on the equipment that is ****** charged. I have had the equipment in storage for over 2 years because I have moved multiple times in the last 3 years and have not been able to re-install at any of the new locations due to landlord declining the install. They literally moved the in-store credit balance into a credit card and will still not cancel the surveillance side. The equipment turned out to be over $5000 and with the monthly fee for surveillance which is a separate fee has totaled to over $3000 of unrendered services because the equipment has been in storage the whole time. They also charge $300 for removal and installation for an install that didn't happen. Also they quoted at $1200 but charged $5000 for equipment that was going to be outdated. How secure is it? None because the "constant" monitoring was not done otherwise they would've notice that the whole system has been off for 3 years.

Pretty much a scam. I had some kid come to my door and slick talk me into to purchasing this equipment. He told me this is the only service u dnt need internet with, which was a lie. He also didnt say I would be taking out a line of credit either. He also told me I had 30 days to cancel if I didnt like the service. Come to find out its 3 days. So plz tell me how do u know if u like it in 3 days? So if no one comes to my house I have no clue if I like it or not. I was also told I would just be getting a door bell and he added sensors to the doors. Now I call customer service and she tells me they can down grade but the panel will have to stay. So tell me what the panel does with out the rest of it? All she can say is I have to pay over a thousand dollars for it if I want it or not and refuses to come get this equipment. I will be filing a claim on this company. Also the salesman that came to my house kept taking the tablet from me and reaching over scrolling fast while Im trying to read it. So I told him I was in between jobs and couldnt afford another bill right now so he told me I would get two months for free he sure I would have a new job by then. which was another lie. I will be taking them to court

We stopped using Vivint's services over a year ago. The equipment we purchased was paid off in March of this year. I spoke with them in May and confirmed our contract was cancelled. But, that wasn't true. I am being told we have a new month to month contract (which we never signed up for and I don't have any verification of - nothing anywhere via email, snail mail, etc). Even worse, I can't access any account information (unless I do so via equipment we would have to set up - convenient for them), and when I call customer service they refuse to hear "cancel services". Long story, short - they WILL NOT cancel anything - not even the month to month contract they started on their own accord. The only way I was able to part ways was to dispute the recent charges with my bank, and cancel the debit card I had on file so they can't charge it again in the future. The irony of a home security company stealing from you....They don't even deserve the one star I gave them. Buyer BEWARE.

I am not surprised about the poor customer review rating. The system is overpriced, dealing with customer service is a classic runaround. I canceled the system after a lot of back and forth over discounts. My issue is with the technician removing the equipment, he couldnt reconnect the old doorbell. The installer said it would be no problem the old wire could be reconnected. However the tech didnt bother to sort it out. So I crawled my 70 year old **** in the attic found the wire and spliced it together. Im slow so I spent about 30 minutes on the project. He recommended I hire an electrician, at my expense! My nephew is helping me install a new system for a fraction of the cost. Ultimately I have no one to blame for this experience but myself, save your money.
