we had an absolutely HORRIBLE experience with greystar. i'd leave zero stars if i could. we received a bill for $1400 in fraudulent move out charges, and greystar could not provide photo evidence or receipts to match the "damage". in the process of disputing our bill, they sent us a new bill and added a $163 cleaning fee. it felt like they were trying to squeeze as much money from us as possible. the greystar representative, teresa, was extremely slow to respond to emails, and upon calling her, she was incredibly rude, angry, and unprofessional from the moment she answered the phone. this is the worst customer experience i've ever had and i will NEVER rent from a greystar property again. if you are considering renting from greystar, i would highly recommend looking elsewhere. there are thousands of reviews online from other tenants who have been scammed by greystar - listen to them

I applied to rent an apartment at Sherwood Crossing in Elkridge, MD in mid-Ocober 2024. My application was denied due to insufficient credit history. I paid $25 application fee and $300 refundable security deposit. On 10/31/24 I received the final account notice stating I was due $300 security deposit refund. It has been over 30 days and I have not received the refund. The law in the state of Maryland is a security deposit must be refunded within 30 days or you can take it to court and get triple damages plus court and attorney fees. That is my next step. I am disabled and on fixed income and I need the money for my living expenses. My experience with the staff at Sherwood Crossing was not very good either. They were very rude and unhelpful. How they expect to rent to people by treating them like that I don't understand. I called to ask about my security deposit refund and Samantha hung the phone up on me. I waited a few weeks and called back to get the corporate office phone number and it took waiting 5 minutes for her to give me the number and then when I called the number it rang a few times and then beeped and nothing. I just want my $300 security deposit back ASAP and I will never apply to rent from Greystar ever again and I will let everyone else know my experience with them as well so no one else has to go through this aggravation as well.

TOXIC MOLD - UNINHABITABLE - DO NOT MOVE HERE! I will keep this short and factual - I have lost about 80% of my property due to gross maintenance neglect of my HVAC unit that resulted in multiple toxic molds that grew throughout the apartment and destroyed almost all of my property, has caused health issues, and has resulted in mass financial losses. When I first discovered the mold & notified the property, the maintenance called me and essentially tried to gaslight me (so they did not have to come to the my apartment) & when they finally did come out they went straight to the HVAC room and discovered that the room was black - covered in mold and debris. Upon this discovery, when I asked for the mold to be remediated the apartment complex passed me off to a “customer service specialist” that did nothing. I was forced to vacate the property due to the mold and have had to hire a mold specialist to come to the property for testing to which they confirmed the apartment was far above and beyond the EPA mold levels that determine needs for remediation. I have had to throw away almost everything I own, drastically up and move and have had severe consequences to my health and property from the gross negligence of Broadstone Ayrsley. This “luxury living” dream come true apartment has become the worst nightmare of my life - DON’T make it yours.

I recently applied to Current Apartments in San Diego and had paid a deposit of $500 immediately to them to secure the unit I had toured. I ended up not moving forward with the move in and asked to receive a refund of my deposit. This was 10/14/24. They stated that my deposit would be MAILED to me within 21 days which was not only absolutely ridiculous m, but it also wasn’t true. I asked them to send it to a particular address instead of one they had on file but they did not listen. After several attempts to contact them about the status of this check, I finally went in to the property management office to speak with someone. Pierre stated that it had been sent to the wrong address and that they’d have to reissue a new check for me. After days of waiting to hear back about this once again, I followed up with an email. He stated a check had been sent out to me on 11/25/24. It is now 12/05/24 and after asking for tracking information regarding this on two separate occasions, I’ve heard nothing from their office. I don’t know if this means I’m completely out my $500 or if I’ll be getting it sometime within the next year but regardless, it’s just been a terrible experience. This business is completely unorganized, unresponsive and unprofessional. I don’t suggest working with them in any way shape or form or moving into this building.

Villas at Carolina Forest Before even applying I let them know that I had an ESA letter for my indoor cats due to my anxiety disorder. This same letter is what I used and what was accepted at my current residence. It is specific and signed by a licensed healthcare provider. They had stated that it would be fine so we proceeded with the application which was approved and then had us go through a third party pet screening company with my ESA letter. This third party company stated that my letter wasn’t “sufficient” and that we must provide additional information! It was a back and forth nightmare with them and although I was specifically told by them that the rental company could override it and there were no laws against the rental company overriding it, the rental company chose to deny my letter. I’d like to add that the manager herself contacted my provider and confirmed the letter. Still management has denied working this out with us and due to the vast amount of stress this has caused, we’ve decided to accept the denial and move on. We are good people, have excellent credit, steady income, no issues or damage to our current unit due to our fur babies and certainly didn’t deserve the way we’ve been treated here. I feel discriminated against due to a disability beyond my control and this entire experience has caused me a lot of anxiety. Do yourself a favor if you have an ESA letter and do not even attempt to apply to this community. It is not worth what they will put you through. Beyond this terrible experience… the manager didn’t even contact myself or my husband directly this morning to deny us, we only found out because I called this morning hoping to discuss the matter with her but was told by the leasing agent that it was a flat out NO pretty much. Greystar is the company whom runs this community so keep that in mind when looking at other rental properties as well.

I recently received a move out summary charge in the amount of $774.64 and a remaining balance of $524.64. Using my $250.00 security deposit as credit towards this amount. The statement indicates the following charges as of 10/01/2024: Amount: $231.39 Utilities: $7.41 Trash- Door to Door: $ 38.30 Amenity Fee: $ 0.32 Rent 10/01/2024-10/01/2024: $73.58 3 Appliances Resurfaced: $423.64 Charge total: $774.64 Security deposit: - $250.00 Balance: $524.64 I would like clarification on these charges. Especially, that my move out date was on Sunday September29th, 2024, and not on Tuesday October 1st, 2024. I even submitted email/ notification that I was not going to renew my lease. The emails were sent on July 1st and July 8th, in advance to avoid any issues. The charges that were submitted apply for the month October, which shouldn't apply to me, as I was already moved out of the apartment. The (3) appliances that were resurfaced in the total of $423.64 seems to be inaccurate. I would like to know what specific appliances (with pictures) that needed to be resurfaced. I retrieved multiple emails that I had sent to the leasing office addressing multiple issues that I encountered with this apartment. The emails include issues from the water heater, sink, fireplace etc. In fact, that even my dishwasher had to be replaced. I can provide emails that contain the dates, time, and pic. on when I sent the emails to the leasing office. I would hope that this issue can come to a feasible resolution, as GREYSTAR's mission statement and one of the core values is: "Service" We make service our top priority by giving our time, knowledge, and experience to serve the needs of our customers, community, and team members. Mission: "To Enrich The Lives We Touch By Doing Things The Right Way"

I have been living at Atlantic at Parkridge Apartments since 2021 and everything was fine until 9/27/2024 when a tree from the property fell on my car. After trying to work out something with the manger Tricia Jeffcoat, Erin Baker and Kaiia Phillips they tried to play in my face once I challenged the fact that the tree itself was poorly maintained, rotten and should have been removed. They don’t like to be challenged and don’t like when you exercise your right as a tenant. I have been denied a garage bc all of a sudden they made up this new fake rule that Tricia has yet to show the policy. Then they sent their two maintenance workers Darryl and Neil to follow me while I’m walking my dogs just for me to receive a notification stating that I have a lease violation; stating I didn’t have my dogs on the leash. Then I recently put in a maintenance request and I put that I did not want them entering my apartment with me being present because they are trying to find ways to evict me and make up phony violations. They then changed the phone number that I’ve had on file since I moved in the apartment complex to a 803 number saying they tried to reach me but it went to VM so they called my roommate and she told them they could come on Monday since she will be home. She leaves at 1030 the maintenance person decides he wants to be slick and enter my apartment 5mins later after she left when they didn’t have permission to enter. So fast forward to today I had to redo the request because he closed the request out as if it were completed. I then again tell them do not enter my home unless you have permission. We agreed on a time to have the maintenance person come and they were supposed to send 2 ppl but sends one person, and a 8 month pregnant leasing lady named Kaiia to stand around and scope my apartment because they want to make up more violations but I told them they had to leave immediately or I will call the cops. They have harassed, retaliated and violated my rights.

Do Not Move into Atlas Apartment in Oakland!!!! Very dishonest management. I paid a deposit to secure an apartment but decided against the apartment due to safety concerns and slow response from leasing agents. I was given three days to cancel but when I decided to cancel, the Manager Dajsha M******* refused to refund me. They are desperate to fill the units and would do anything to get you trapped in a lease

I was told my unit was never lived in yet it was dirty upon move-in I had to clean the oven because it was bbq sauce spilled inside cabinets had stickers still inside I found clothing in bathroom cabinet floors with paint splatter ceiling fans dusty dirty air filter totally not move-in ready 2. Light fixtures crooked sloppy paint job 3. Cheap appliances and fixtures the apartment features deep sinks but the faucet doesn't have a sprayer I was told by the leasing office that I can purchase my own faucet and they would install it and I'm paying $1785.00 for a 1bdrm 4. Low-flow toilets you have to flush several times water saving aerators in bathroom so you barely get enough water to out to wash your hands 5. Constant power/internet outages 6. Kids playing in the hall all hours of the night ringing my door bell and throwing food at my ring cam crushed a tomato and smeared it over the camera lens 8. No one actually puts trash bags in the trash cans its left on the ground 9. Supposed to be gated yet the gates are always open even at night 10. Key fobs often don't work 11. A couple months after I moved in a row of cabinets in the kitchen started to fall off the wall repair still not complete 12. Every time you plug something up in the kitchen it blows a fuse I was told yesterday that a lot of units are having the same issue and that I should use one appliance at a time electrical issue also ruined my electric kettle 13. Light flickering I was told it was from the A/C but Ive noticed it even when the A/C isn't on 14. Renters insurance added to my account without any notification

It has been a horrible experience leasing with greystar. The 2 month leasing speacial as advertised on their site is not honored. The site mentions to see agent for details. I visited the property twice prior to submitting application and inquired about the special and was failed to be properly advised that the apartment i leased does not qualify. The leadership team has been extremely dismissive and lack consideration for my concerns.
