Your company has no concern 4 your customers. Collecting $ is what you care about. When l arrived 2 pick up the car rental l was expecting 2 deal with Thrifty but a sign at an empty counter instructed me 2 go 2 the Hertz counter. The initial experience was positive. Then l had 2 return the vehicle back to the airport 4 an exchange rental. The rental had 2 be returned after debris propelled by another vehicle on a 4 lane highway struck the driver front tire of the rental causing it 2 go flat. When l called the company's phone # from my Thrifty rental receipt 4 assistance l received no answer. l called the road side service # provided on the receipt envelope & spoke with someone who showed compassion & concern 4 my situation. The ***** also was called & a technician was dispatched 2 assist with putting on the spare tire during heavy & fast moving traffic. The road side customer *** stayed on the phone with me during the entire time. They also provided me with the claim # 2 give 2 the agent at the airport rental counter. The experience when l went 2 make the rental exchange was absolutely negative! The airport counter agent was callus & ambivalent 2 my experience with maneuvering the vehicle & managing 2 keep *************** safe during this dangerous situation. They nonchalantly handed me paperwork 2 fill out. During this whole time they did not once inquire if myself or family were okay. Their main concern was 4 the vehicle ************ or if there was any other damage. When l inquired if this paperwork was going 2 be used 2 file a claim against my insurance the counter agent just sarcastic stated "you're responsible for the tires. You could have ran over a nail!" My response was while driving on the highway? I was told l would receive a copy of the contract that l signed that states that. All l have received are text messages, calls, an invoice for ***lacing 1 tire & additional charges! I will never rent from this company again. Crude, callous & contemptuous!Review fromPeter P

My friend reserved a car at the ***************** in November 2024 for me, but did not change the size of car before she finalized the reservation. I tried changing the reservation using my laptop, but could not access the reservation because it would only send the code to my phone which did not allow me to use the code on my laptop. I spent nearly 2 hours s******* with this and looking for a number to call--are we so reliant on our phones that these websites do not allow laptop access. In the end, I booked a reservation with Alamo. Problem is, while there may be a dozen car rental firms to choose from, they are probably all owned by 3 companies. Growth and consolidation--great for the shareholders, **** for the customers because they just don't give a s***Review fromTerry M

We were mislead and scammed by the woman at the Thrifty rental desk in Kona, HI. I declined insurance, but she stated we had to purchase at least the basic insurance in order to get the vehicle. I had already paid for rental car through a military website. We also told the woman we would fill the fuel tank up, as we weren’t sure we’d even be driving that much. She assured me that the fuel charge would be taken off after returned full. We did not notice all the additional charges until we got to our hotel. We were conned into signing for basic insurance, even though our credit card company and USAA insurance already cover rental cars. We also showed the fuel receipt and full tank to person when we returned the vehicle. I am shocked at the horrible reviews this company has received, and still able to remain in business. I wish I had read them prior to using Thrifty. Our final receipt, even after having already paid for renting the vehicle, was $487.57!!! She charged us for some premium insurance, fuel surcharge, and some kind of concession fee, as well as of course high tax on all this extra stuff. We got scammed! I’m reporting them to the Hawaii Department of Commerce as well as anywhere else I can leave a review.Review fromNathan H

I had a repaid car rental contract the picked up at 2:30 pm on October 31, 2024 at Logan Airport Boston, and drop off the same location at 8:30 am on November 3, 2024. I did drop off the car on November 3 at 6:07 AM that 2 hours early that the schedule drop off. I received the receipt that said I drop off on November 5 at 10 PM. They charged 3 additional days. I tried to contact the thrifty by phone but no luck. I tried to contact by email. No one reply. I disputed to the credit card but after 1 week, they refunded 2 days charged but still charged 1 da extra. This was completely not corrected. I know I was wasting my time to fight for 1 additional day charge ($ 57.54) but I want to fight for other customers who had the same situation that add up the big scam from thrifty.Review fromMatthew K

I think their business practices are messed up. Booked the manager special because I wanted the discount offer but nowhere did it say it would have to be an electric car till I got there and that would be fine if I was comfortable using an EV but never been in one in my life and now Im supposed to drive one in a state Ive never been when i know nothing about charging. Of course there was no alternative on the manager special list other than to upgrade to luxury and pay an extra $17 a day. When I asked for a price check they required a $1 deposit. Just to tell me what the price would be for the next cheapest gas vehicle? How is that a thing? They do no walk around with you to check damages beforehand. There were smudges in the back bumper they will probably try to charge me for. They seem predatory on people they dont travel much like myself and my wifeReview fromWilliam S

I rented a car through *********.com for my wife's visit to California to see her mother 11/1-11/7/2024. ********* obtained a rental for me thru Thrifty Car Rental for $184.50, which was a great price. My wife (65 year old retired grandmother) usually does not travel alone and doesn't ever rent cars. When she got to the Thrifty rental desk at San Jose Mineta International Airport she gave the man behind the counter her ********* paperwork. She said that it was very busy at the time and it took a long time to make it to the counter with a line still behind her. The man behind the counter seemed to be quite the schmoozer when talking with her. He started talking about insurance and my wife, never having had to deal with this situation before, told him that her husband had taken care of everything. He said that was all well and good but that it wouldn't cover other aspects of the car rental and that she would want to make sure the vehicle was fully covered during her trip. As a result my wife felt pressured into getting the additional insurance (even though she had State Farm Insurance). As a result we now have a $324.63 dollar bill for the following; 1) Damage Waiver -$175.00, 2) Liability insurance- $114.45, 3) Concession fee - $32.16 and 4) Tax $3.02. In essence I am telling everyone to beware of fast talking Thrifty Rental reps, especially if you have not had a lot of experience with car rentals. It was obvious that my wife was new to car rentals and I feel she was taken advantage of. WE WILL NEVER RENT A CAR FROM THRIFTY CAR RENTAL AGAIN, I don't care how good a deal it appears. I know that I am on the hook for these exorbitant insurance charges because my wife signed the contract. I just want other senior citizens to be aware of the pitfalls of purchasing rental car insurance from this rental company. Buyer beware!!!William S

I would like to update my post on my issue with Thrifty Car rental. I attempted to resolve my issue through correspondence with several different Thrifty Rental agents but was told by each that because my wife signed the contract, we were obligated to pay the bill and that there was nothing they could do. As a result I took my complaint to several social media platforms as well as YELP, and AARP. On 11/28/24 I received an E-mail from Sasha W in Thrifty Customer Service who apologized for the "Billing Error" and that an adjustment was being made to my credit card in the amount of $289.45 of the original $324.63 bill. I consider this issue closed now. It was a learning experience for both my wife and myself and hopefully anyone reading of my issue. Buyer beware. When in doubt seek assistance from a trusted individual before signing any contract. Thank you for your assistance, William H. SReview fromIan D

Worst company I have ever done business with. Booked our car rental through ***** Car Rental in the UK for our Orlando Florida family holiday in September 2024. ***** hired us a car through Thrifty in the USA. Picked up our car at Orlando International airport. Staff were rude, sold us extra insurance we did not need and provided us with a sub standard car. The car broke down after 5 days with a flat battery. Took Thrifty 6 hrs to respond at which time all of my family were stuck at a roadside restaurant. Thrifty staff were unhelpful on the phone. Told us that no engineer was available to fix our car. Had to pay for a taxi to get my family to our rental villa. At 3 am in the morning Thrifty fixed our vehicle but only temporarily. The engineer told us that the vehicle's battery was very old and not the original battery supplied with this car it was much older. We need a replacement vehicle. Had to travel back to Orlando airport by taxi to pick up a replacement vehicle. Thrifty refused to bring a vehicle to us. In all the flat battery breakdown took over 9 hrs to resolve and let us very tired. So we lost our park tickets for the next day. Holiday was ruined for a couple of days. Thrifty and ***** refused to compensate us for our loss. Very poor customer service. Take my advice, don't hire cars from these companies if you value your holidayReview fromRachael M

My family picked up a rental car from the **************************. We drove the car for about 2.5 hours before it died on the highway. Thrifty's only solution was going to require us to drive another 4 hours back to the airport to get a new one. This was not an option for us. The car was towed from the highway and then we have not heard from them despite multiple attempts. I was still charged over $50 which I assume is for gas, but unsure how I am supposed to fill the tank if the car was not functioning?? Again, zero customer service at this time.Review fromLin H

Worst car rental company I have ever worked with. I had a reservation for a vehicle in ************, SC on 10/12. Thrifty was unable to provide the vehicle I reserved and offered me a different vehicle which wouldn't fit everybody in my family. The agent at the counter told me I would just have to make multiple trips to get my family to the hotel. Thrifty then proceeded to charge me the rate for the vehicle I didn't even get! I had to call the next day to check if the correct vehicle was now available and then go change it out. The agents at the Thrifty office would not fix the charge for the wrong vehicle for a day or offer any discount for the major inconvenience Thrifty caused. They told me to call a ***** number. The people there said they couldn't do anything either, I should submit a request to be contacted through the Thrifty Contact Us page on the website. I did that, three times over the course of three weeks! NO ONE has reached out to me. Your customer service is horrible! I am now attempting to reach you through social media pages because maybe somebody looks at these and will contact me? I am fed up with Thrifty.
