They overcharged me. They put in hidden fees and taxes. They charged ME for THEIR car breaking down! I lost a day of my vacation and almost got into a car accident because of their car which stalled and wouldn't drive properly. They put me on hold for an hour, then hung up on me. Also, it took 1.5 hours to talk to an agent to pick up the car. This company is a FRAUD!.Review fromFatma S

I rented a car from Thrifty at Newark International Airport and the daily rate was $63. I took the car one hour late, to which I was charged a late fee, which is understandable and accept. However, my daily rate changed from $63 to $169 because the car was one hour late, bringing up my total from $260 to $680. When I went to the kiosk to address the issue, the supervisor only refunded 50 dollars, as though she was giving me a donation. I was utterly dissatisfied and disappointed in their poor and ridiculous service.Review fromChris C

I rented a car from Thrifty Car Rental on 7/11/22. The service was terrible due to lack of staff. Stood in line for 15 minutes just to have to wait another 40 minutes for them to find a car, which they never did. They provided a different vehicle. When I returned the vehicle I was charged over $600 in hidden fee's over the original rental fee of $340.65 after telling them I did not want any additional insurances or roadside service.Review fromJessica A

Rented the vehicle. The car would not start on the second day. Contacted roadside service and they never showed up. It was over 90 degrees outside and i waited for hours. I contacted customer support several times and was told someone was coming, someone was coming. Roadside service ended up coming the next day around 130 pm in the afternoon. They towed the car. I requested a refund and was told I had used the car for the allotted days and could not get a refund. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! They are a scam!!!!Review fromSarai O

I rented a vehicle from 7/12/22-7/25/22 from the Kona airport and was informed that if I prepaid for my fuel I would be reimbursed for any fuel I did not use. I was told this upon signing up and returning the fuel. The full tank of gas coat was $110 I only used half a tank upon returning. I was not reimbursed and when I contacted the Thifty office I was told they do not reimburse. With gas being so expensive it's disheartening to be lied to. On the agreement it just states you can return on empty it does not disclose you will not be reimbursed for any gas not used. Transparency would have been greatly appreciated.Review fromLisa D

UNSAFE CARS
Paid $1500 for a 2 week hire, and thrifty rented us a car that was breaking down by the time we arrived at our destination. ******
They said they would replace the vehicle, and told us to go to a local airport... Which turned out to not even have a thrifty desk.
Called again this morning to escalate the case number. Now the suggestion is... to take the car in to be repaired.
Let me get this straight... You rented me a dud vehicle and now you want ME to get it repaired? Yikes again.
My recommendation is AVOID THRIFTY ENTIRELY.
and they're owned by hertz, so probably skip hertz as well.Review frommikeisconman

one of the worst car rentals out there. poor customer service and agents are so not equipped to do their job. got a rental and had a flat tire the next morning, called them at 9;00am for help, they said help will be coming in 60 minutes -- it is now 3:00pm and we are still waiting for them to show up. we are stuck here w/young kids and not sure when help will arrive.Review fromTee H

Horrible car rental company. Misleading to customers about the advertising. $25-$35 car rental per day.
I booked & prepaid $450 for 5 days.
When we got there, they sold more because they told us we need those to cover their car rental. During that time, we were in emotional stage & we were hurried get to our dad's funeral. We didn't expect all these charges on top of what we're already paid.
We rented car many times before,
Car rental charge plus 1-3 more charges extra if we were agreed with it.
Normally $400-$550 max. We thought they charged double, now we realized that they charged us $932.74 almost $1000 just for 5 days of car rental.
Very bad advertising & misleading consumers to get their hard working money. I suggest everyone to read careful & refuse any services that they offer. They are not free but all about money. Customer service rep. just don't want to explain clearly to you. If they do, then you won't purchased.
Nightmare, we rather save those money to donate then pay to this big company.Review fromPierrce M

I reserved a rental 30days in advance and the local Thrifty rep was very kind and courteous. She mentioned that she'd reserve me a specific car that would save on MPG and this made me very happy. Fast-forward to the day of, when I got to the location to pick up the reservation, I waited in the lobby behind a client and a rep that were speaking about political issues. It didnt bother me as I stood quietly awaiting my turn in line (this was a different Thrifty rep than the one that was helping me over the phone 30days prior). When the rep got to me he was immediately rude and aggressive. (I, of course, cant ascertain this but based on what he and the customer were talking about before I walked in/ while I waited - I can assume my ethnicity/ race did not coincide with their political ideologies.) Aside from the general unprovoked rudeness, I was informed that I couldnt rent the car because I didnt have full coverage insurance on a vehicle that I - myself owned (which defeats the purpose of needing to rent a vehicle). The reservation was placed through a third party which insurance was purchased through and he Thrifty rep declined to take that as "acceptable insurance". After a 45mins on the phone (each) with customer service reps from both the third party company who booked the reservation and Thrifty, the rep told them both that he wouldnt accept either of their insurances (insurance through the third party was unacceptable, and insurance that Thrifty as company themselves offer was unacceptable). The local rep was asked to provide these "branch policies" in writing and was unable to. Ultimately I left without the reserved car from 30days out and was forced to rent a car from Enterprise that required none of the hassle and turned out was cheaper in the long run. I will gladly use public transit before the "10701 Lambert Intrntnl Blvd; St Louis, MO 63145" or any Thrifty (or Hertz as we learned in this that they're owned by the same company) location ever again.Review fromDeb V

I wish I had read these reviews before renting. If I could give it zero stars, I would. I enrolled in the Blue Chip program so that I could skip the line when renting on a family vacation in West Palm Beach, Florida. Thrifty told me I had to have one successful rental before the line skipping would engage. So, I rented a car for one hour at the airport 30 miles away from my house so that when my family came on vacation in Florida we wouldn't all be waiting in line for the rental. After spending $75 and 2 hours on an unnecessary one-day rental, I called Thrify twice to make sure we would be able to skip the line when we rented in Florida and was assured both times that we were on the Blue Chip list. Guess what. When we got to West Palm we were not on the Blue Chip list and had to wait in line. When I complained, they said they couldn't do anything about the issue. I tried management and got the same response. And to boot, after paying for the rental, they sent me another bill in the mail for $45 for some unknown charge. Worst company ever.
