This is a very untrustworthy car rental company. I reserved a car for $30.75/day and was charged $53.98/day. I picked the car up from an airport rental facility on 04/24/25 within a reasonable time of the projected pick up based on when my flight landed and how long the line was (circa 1:00 pm) and I returned it within the 24-hour and 30-minute ***** period of my return date and time (04/28/25 circa 1:00 pm). I was charged for a late return: $12.00, a concession fee recovery: $26.34, and a different return location fee (I returned to the exact place where I picked it up): $34.69. This is a fraudulent business.

Got off a flight in ***********. Got on shuttle and got to the rental car terminal. Approached desk. Attendant pushed a bunch of keys on the terminal, took my license and credit card, did everything that was needed to be done. Then, right before he gave me a car, he told me he didn't have the car ready. He gave me the option to pay $20 extra per day to upgrade to a car that was ready. He told me I'd have to wait an hour if I didn't upgrade. I asked to speak to the manager. She was not available. Ended up waiting most of the hour to get my reservation. We had a 3 hour drive and my wife was sick, so this is pretty unacceptable. Did some googling to if anyone else experience this. It turns out this is a common scam run out of this desk. Its basically "pay us extra money or we will make you wait without a clear timeline."

Our rental experience with Thrifty was horrible. This was our familys first trip to ****** and Thrifty made it less enjoyable. It took our representative at the airport a very long time to process our booking (over an hour). We used Expedia to book the rental, however we were NOT told beforehand about the $500 hold that would be placed due to using a debit card. Very unprofessional! We were also not told about the extra fuel and insurance fee fees required on the vehicle (totaling over $300)! Even worse to follow was that our cars battery died. It was cranking 0 V. We called roadside assistance and had to wait nearly 2 hours for help. They would not bring us a replacement vehicle instead they sent AAA to jumpstart the vehicle and we had to drive ALL the way back to the airport to exchange it. Whenever we went to exchange the vehicle, they even mixed up the exchange vehicles make and model and had to wait for them to sort it out. My family is VERY displeased with our experience and we would NEVER recommend Thrifty to anyone.

I called Thrify's local office in the Orlando airport because I knew we would need to use a debit card and not a credit card. I told them I needed all the information about renting with debit card. I was told 1. Flight info needed 2. There would be a $500 hold on my debit card. What I was NOT told was they would run a credit report! Unbelievable. They are holding $500 on my debit card for a rental worth about $150 and they need to run a credit report??? We did not rent from Thrifty but went next door to Enterprise - no deposit, no credit check -- just appreciation for our business and great service. Will never even look at Thrifty in the future. Oh, and I'm a Travel agent -- guess who I will NOT be recommending to any of my clients?

Thrift keeps sending me bills for a rental upgrade that not only I didn't ask for but one that I did not even want. Every time I have contacted them, I get a response saying " you signed for this so you pay for it." Well, that's never going to happen because I was misled from the first second I showed up at their rental counter. Worst car rental company ever.

A full-size car (Interior volume = 120 cubic feet) was booked and paid for. A midsize (Interior volume = ***** cu.ft.) ****** Altima was provided. Traveling with a wheelchair, and that definitely made things difficult.

RENTERS BEWARE!!! DO NOT RENT FROM THEM, I DONT CARE HOW CHEAP THE CAR IS. THEY WILL NOT RELEASE THE SECURITY HOLD THAT THEY PLACE ON YOUR CREDIT CARD OR DEBIT CARD. YOU WILL HAVE TO TAKE THAT FIGHT TO YOUR BANK. I HAVE BEEN FIGHTING WITH THEY SINCE 02/21/2025

I recently had an extremely disappointing experience with Thrifty Car Rental, and after multiple attempts to contact their customer service with no response, I feel compelled to share my experience.Upon picking up my rental vehicle, I was presented with only three options for collision insurance coveragenone of which included the ability to decline it entirely. This was despite the fact that I had already purchased coverage through *********, making any additional insurance unnecessary. Similarly, I was automatically charged for premium road service, which I neither needed nor requested, and I was not given an option to opt out of it.These deceptive and unethical practices are completely unacceptable. Customers should not be forced into paying for services they do not want or need. I have formally requested a full refund for these charges and have escalated my complaint to the Better Business Bureau.Due to this experience, I will never rent from Thrifty again and strongly advise others to be cautious when dealing with them. Transparency and honesty should be the standard in the car rental industryunfortunately, Thrifty has failed in both regards.

I booked a manager choice and they said I could have an electric car or I would have to upgrade to a midsize. nothing in the text said electric only. What a bait and switch.

******. If I could leave zero stars, I would (**************** location). I rented a luxury vehicle and ended up with a Malibu. I told them I will fill up the tank myself and they charged me for fuel even though I had my receipt. The ***** number was not helpful. I understand it's a business but the whole experience felt off and out to take your money with the most profit possible. Horrible experience. Choose another car rental agency.
