Agree with the commenters here. This inactivity fee is the height of 'small print' and as a clinical manager who may or may not choose to go with Greenphire as a means of assumedly faster payment, it is not disclosed that this fee will apply to patients. Those of us who work in clinical trial management are dedicated to making it easy for patients to participate and we have NO idea that the money was being taken away.

Very inconvenient for end users. Accessing reimbursement is very challenging and several of the methods require fees. There is no way for the end user to pay back their credit card statement or transfer funds to their bank topay their statements, resulting in financial strain for large reimbursements. Customer service is also complicated.

Hello Michael, I apologize for any inconvenience you have been experiencing. We have reviewed your account and do see that you reached out to Cardholder Support on 8/22. Your were then contacted by Keinan, the Manager, who shared with you the method on which you could complete a cash advance. Alternatively, just using the card for every day purchases would allow you to then use those same amounts from your checking/savings account to pay off a credit card. We cannot be completely seamless in every iteration of banking relationships. but millions of people have been using these cards for over a decade now. Regards, Mike

Customer service is not helpful. I have not been able to transfer funds . I contacted customer service. It was suggested to download the app on my phone. I did so, however, the app is not functioning. When I contacted customer service again, I was told to delete my banking info and enter it again. Now the site will not give my bank as an option as a transfer. I know that $150 is not a lot of money to most. I am a single mom and I cannot replace this money my kiddo earned from University of Arizona who chose to pay with ClinCard.

Clincard is a shameful scam and will deter patients from participation. No clinical trial should every use this, and Clincard should be closed down. Cannot use card without PIN. Calling the number to assign a PIN is a recording that tells patient to contact the clinical trial. Total scam and waste of time, purposely set up to make the patient give up. Shame on you!!

Mastercard instructions tell us we can register the card online at MyClincard.com via a "Register Account" link. That page has no such link, and I have been unable to find any way to register the card online. Instead I have to call the 866 number. That does allow me to set a PIN and I suppose that I can use that to view details online, but in the 21st century I shouldn't have to use an antiquated telephone keypad interface. The organization supporting these cards is apparently too cheap to invest in a simple online interface. Or perhaps this is deliberate, if the card is hard enough to use they can drain the balance with inactivity fees, which are pure profit.

This company is a scam to steal money from vulnerable patients in clinical trials. There's a nonsense inactivity fee which drained my account without me knowing. I was never informed about this, and the fees make no sense at all. The money I was paid to participate in a study is now all gone and I wasn't able to spend a cent of it. This is extremely unethical.

Hello Karl, I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. I can assure you that ClinCard is not a scam. The inactivity fee is disclosed with the materials that accompany the card when you recieve it. That being said, we have reviewed your account and reveresed the fees incurred. Your balance is now $25.00 and you are encouraged to use or withdraw those funds timely, as this card is not intended to be used as a savings account. Sincerely, Mike

This company is horrible! A company paid me using ClinCard - ClinCard made it impossible to get signed up or to access the card or funds. When I finally reached someone by phone in the customer service department they told me sorry that all of my funds are gone they took them all for inactive monthly fees! Yes it was inactive because your system never worked correctly for me and let me access the account or the card! So they stole all of the money I was to receive because " I agreed to their terms" No I indeed did not agree I never could get signed up or get access to anything. When I stated my frustration and disagreement with this. The agent said "I sorry please call the company that paid you and see if they will add funds back to your card". Well no they upheld their end. CLINCARD stole the money

Worst card ever - I kept the card for emergency purposes and when I tried to use it the original amount of money had disappeared. After all the clinical trials I went through to earn the money they stole it from me. The letter that came with the card states that card funds do not expire - well they do. When my card expired even though I still had funds on it they did not sent me a new card until I called and asked for it. I will be contacting not only the University of Minnesota and asking why they are using such a dishonest means of payment but also the Office of the State of Minnesota Attorney General with my complaint. I want my money back!

Hello Carla, I just sent you an email disclosing the fees we were able to reverse for you. Please contact me directly with any other questions concerning this situation. As I explained in the email to you, the statement that the funds "do not expire" is not entirely accurate. The cardholder agreement I included, which came with your card, should disclose all the fees involved with the card. The card is not intended to be used as a savings account. Please reach out to me via the email with any other questions or concerns. I hope this will allow you to feel like you do not need to reach out to the U of M or AG. Sincerely, Mike

Terrible card. Most places won’t take the card. You must know the balance to use it, if you find someone who will take it. Impossible to get information about the card over the phone or online. Extremely unhelpful staff. Because they have the year for my birthday, I cannot get the balance on the card. The issuing institution has the correct year. I still cannot get any information.

Hello Amy, First off, I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. Per our review, while your date of birth is correct on two or your profiles / cards, it is incorrect for the card ending in 8424. You should be receiving an email from our Support manager, Keinan, who will be directing you to contact your research facility to assist with having the date of birth corrected. At that point, you will be able to use this card. Sincerely, Mike

If you read this review, you also got scammed by ClinCard. It'll clean(Clin) your money in the gift card if you don't register right away. This company is full of scams. ClinCard will charge you every month for the unregistered or unused card and eventually, gift card balance will be $0 pretty quickly. Do they think they are Amex Platinum or Black?? Why do they charge a high amount of monthly fee without providing any service? I can't believe the company is doing this type of scam business. Stay away from this shitty company.

Hello Bernard, After reviewing your account and contacting you via email, we were able to locate your account and fees were reversed to bring your balance back to $50. I hope this satisfies your situation. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Cardholder Services at the number notated on the back of your card. As a reminder, the details of these fees are described on the card carrier that the card was attached to. Sincerely, Mike
