my clincard was scammed with multiple purchases from 3 different companies. Called all 3 companies to have charges reversed. All 3 companies gave me the exact same verbiage (clearly scripted) had the same accent and same hold music as the my clincard call number to complain about the charges in the first place. online shows credits have been issued, but the card is not yet working, so I think it was drained completely and those new charges are not yet showing up. Will update if it does work and I am able to get some $$ benefit from the card. I got this for volunteering for a covid study. Several hundred dollars is probably down the drain.ClinCard Prepaid MasterCard

Hello Thomas, I apologize for any inconvenience you are experiencing. We have reviewed your account and see your card transaction history shows transactions and refunds put onto the card. However, the card is currently in restricted status per the bank report for suspicious activity. We see that you called Support on 12/21/2022 and failed the security validation process. You will need to contact your research facility and ensure your correct personal information is on file, then contact Support to have the card unlocked, and if needed, to submit any applicable dispute. This is by far the worst company I had to deal with it in my life. I received this card from my school as part of a reimbursement. I tried to make 3 online purchases and ALL of them was decline. The first time I tried using the card, was for a Price Line, to pay for an airfare, I called their customer support line, not to mention it was super complicated, and not at all user friendly. After much struggle, a lady pick up phone. After explaining my situation to her, she stated that the merchant was consider a high risk for fraud and therefore was blocked by the bank. I find it unusual, and end it up moving on! Another day, I tried to pay for my phone bill at ATT, and it was declined again! I called them, this time a guy answer, and after explaining my situation, he mentioned I cound;t use the card to make bill payments, again, find it super odd! After much going and forward, I asked if I could use the card for hotel reservations, and he said yes! Then, I tried to pay for airbnb and guess what? declined again!!! OMG!!! Unfortunately, I had to called them again and guess what? It was blocked by the bank as airbnb is a high risk for fraudulent activity!!! I'm like, please you guys are such BS! Everthing you try to do, they make it super difficult! Transfer to my bank account takes 2 to 3 days alone just to add my account! Another 3 days to transfer to my account! This writing makes no justice of the awful experience I had go through.ClinCard Prepaid MasterCard

We have reviewed your account to follow up on this review. Per our review, it shows that in response to a call on 10/30/22, three instances of the inactivity fees were reversed. Unfortunately, Greenphire has no control over what the bank deems as a high risk merchant. Processing times for money transfers is also a part of typical processing time via a bank. Your other option would be to either utilize an ATM and withdraw from the card, or do an over the counter withdrawal at a participating bank.Review fromPenny E.

I received a Clin Card as a thank you for taking part in a research study after I tested positive for Covid. I completed the 4 month study in April of 2021 and while it was greatly appreciated, since I wasn't being paid by my employer for being sick for 2 1/2 mos., I do NOT remember reading anything anywhere, about a $4.50 per month service charge if the card was inactive for over 6 months. I've basically had $49.50 ripped out of my pocket! I tried to use the card less than 1 yr ago and it wouldn't let me make a purchase. I called tonight to check the balance, thinking foolishly that I had over $50 in the account, to only find out I had $3.81. I was shocked!!! If this was an account that had a maintenance fee, then why wasn't I sent a monthly statement showing my balance? For $4.50, that's the least they could've done. It would only have taken ONE maintenance fee before I took my hard earned money out of their hands. I need that money that was ripped it away from me for a maintenance fee that is monitored by a computer and that is not seen by any human eye! I agree with another commenter, Medical and Research Companies, I highly suggest using a different method to compensate your patients with! This company rips people off!ClinCard Prepaid MasterCard

Hi Penny, I apologize for any frustration you are experiencing due to this situation. That being said, the $4.50 inactivity fee is clearly documented in both the patient facing material the coordinator of the study should have given you, as well as in the terms and conditions for using the card that was in the envelope the card is supplied in. We have taken the action to reverse all the fees charged as a one time exception. Please keep this in mind going forward, as fees will be taken according to the inactivity rules going forward. My daughter is in a clinical trial and her card was expired. I ordered a new one. they say it was going to take 7 to 10 business days to receive it. after 15 working days, I called again and now they said they had a problem with the company that issued the card and I have to order again, of course, I have to wait another 7-10 business days. As this was not our fault, and they have the worst customer service, I ask to send me a new card faster. which they refused. The lady said they will escalate this issue and will call me someday. in the meantime, we have no card. I called back again, and now they said the issue is the post office.Review fromCharlie L T

Very poor technologically. If you join more than one Clinical Trial and thereby get a second ClinCard, you will have to set up a new ID, new password, for the NEW card. They should think of themselves like a Bank. You join the bank, that's like getting a membership in ClinCard. You may have different accounts - a checking account, a savings account, maybe some CDs. Those are like your different ClinCards. You should not have not have to create multiple identities to have more than one card. If I could give zero stars, I would.ClinCard Prepaid MasterCard

Hello Mary, Thank you for your comments. I can assure you there are actually valid reasons why each study has to issue a separate card. Each study has it's own budget and so those payments have to be tracked accurately. Also, each study is billed per participant by Greenphire, so that also has to be accurately tracked. While these cards are backed by a sponsor bank, the accounts are not a typical banking relationship and these cards are useful in that you do not have to wait for a payment by check or direct deposit. Also, as your cards are Visa cards, you are able to set up card to bank transfers via the website to your bank account. The website for that is ********************************** and there is also a mobile app which is My ClinCard. Hopefully this will assist you.Review fromJanice D

I received a gift card for participating in a medical study. It came at a busy time for me, so I had never activated it. It said it expired in 07/2024, so I was not in a rush. I had forgotten the exact amount, so I called today for the balance. I remembered it being for $20 or $25. The auto-attendant said it was for $11.50. I wondered why the balance was so small. I called back and spoke to the customer service agent who said that after 6 months there was a service fee for $4,50 each month for inactivity. Since it has been 9 months since I received it, the $25 gift card is now worth $11.50. I looked at the letter that accommodated the card, and although there are details about how to use it and activate it, there was no mention that a fee would be charged each month after 6 months of inactivity. Instead it is BURIED in the fine print of the cardholder agreement. That should have been in bold letters under "Important Card Information"! Does it really take $4.50 per month to monitor an inactive $25 card? That is ludicrous. Expecting the average person to glean that information reading the fine print is unreasonable. The reason it is buried seems to be so that the user will miss this point, and the the financial institution will line their pockets. I encourage medical institutions, pharmaceutical companies, and universities who want to say to say "thank you" to their participants NOT to use this card.ClinCard Prepaid MasterCard

I received a $25 Clincard for doing a survey for my Doctor. I read the folder that came with it and set my pin. Later I tried to use it and was declined. I called the support number and was told the amount of my purchase was over $25 and that was the reason in was declined. I had even told the casher to only put $25 in the card, it was still declined. I figured it was just a scam, and put in a drawer and forgot about it. The other day I found it and thought I'd try again. Same result. Today I made a purchase that was under $25 and it was still declined. The casher pushed some buttons and ran it again, this time it was accepted for $7. Long way form $25. So, I went to the web site, logged in, and discovered it had been charged $4.50 a month for "inactivity". Bottom line, it's a piece of crap. I'm sure there's something in the fine print, (so fine I can't read it) that makes this legal. It's is still crappy. I won't every do another survey where a Clincard is the reward.ClinCard Prepaid MasterCard

Hello Ken, I apologize for any inconvenience experienced. We have been able to review your account and would like to share the following information. Splitting transactions, as you mention, can cause issues at certain merchants. That is outlined in Card Carrier. Also, as you mentioned, the inactivity fees are detailed in the Card Carrier. We do offer to reverse three fees if you were to call the support number - ************ - and request it. I would encourage you to do so. The card is certainly not a scam and is used in thousands of clinical trials globally by the most well known pharm companies in the world. Sincerely, Mike
