On 2/10/2025, my kitchen sink started to back up. I tried Drano, plunger, etc.… but nothing worked, I texted my plumber but couldn’t reach him and the water level was rising, so I called Roto Rooter. They texted me at 5:03 pm that the technician would arrive in 30-45 minutes, he arrived around 7 pm. The technician entered the kitchen, and I asked him if the drain issue would have anything to do with my low pressure in kitchen faucet (I know nothing about plumbing or drains, they are supposed to be the experts), he turned on the water and said, wow that pressure is low. He looked under the sink, turned some knobs and the water turned off and won’t turn back on. He said, “Sorry I am not a plumber, I am a drain technician.” Why wouldn’t you tell me that before you started messing with the knobs. He stated that he called his dispatcher and told them I needed them to send a plumber ($99 fee). So, he proceeded to tell me that to snake the drain, it would cost $499 (for a 15–20-minute job), I told him, I can’t do $499, he said he could do it for $300. I agreed. While he was snaking the drain, my original plumber texted me that he could do it for $125, unfortunately, Roto Rooter had already started the work, so I was stuck with the $300 charge. My plumber said Roto Rooter is one of the more expensive companies. If they are going to be that expensive, they could at least provide quality work. I called the customer service number and asked to speak to a manager, At 7:32pm CST, I received a call from the on-call manager (couldn’t understand her name), she stated that she spoke to the drain technician, and he confirmed that I had low pressure water flow when he arrived and now, I have NO water flow. 1:01 minutes into the conversation she (the on-call manager) agreed to waive the $99 fee, I am waiting for the plumber now, supposedly 30-45 minutes, let’s hope it’s not 3 hours again.Roto-Rooter

The day before thanksgiving 11/26/2024 there was a pipe leek that happen in kitchen. This caused water damage to cabinets and floors. I called Roto Rooter *********** to come and do repairs. I was charged $200.00 to fix the leaking pipe. The technician then called their **************************** *. ******* the mitigation expert arrived; he helped start the claim with insurance company then I never saw him again. When I received a bill, it was extremely high. I attempted several calls to the billing department, A/R and never could get a call back. No response to emails that I sent. My insurance company did their assessment and came back with reasonable charges for the mitigation at $5596.24. Roto Rooter responded they will NOT revise invoice. They are billing for work not preformed. Tech took 2 samples but are charging for 4. I have not received the asbestos test report which I am intitled to. We moved the furniture and items out of the way for them to have a clear work area not them. We removed the damaged floors not them. We hauled off the debris they left on patio not them. No antimicrobial applied. No masking off areas. Dining room billing $1131.13 when all the demo was done by my husband and son, the only thing they did was cut out 1x1 inch piece of sheetrock for testing. The are billing $343.61 for my pantry when they only took a 1x1 inch piece of sheetrock for testing and 3 base boards that are ruffly 2x2. Kitchen billing $3572.05 they only demoed 3 lower cabinets, 1 toe kick on other side of kitchen, 3x8 inch piece of sheetrock, hand full of wet insulation. They are billing $2412.86 equipment set up, take down, debris haul off (only took parts of cabinets left rest on back patio), monitoring, asbestos/lead testing. Their billing for after hours, when they dictated when they came to check equipment. Total $7459.65. Now they are in process to place a lien on my home, sending me to collections which will affect my credit score. Please helpRoto-Rooter

I have called Murrysville pa (well that's where the payment went) I called a roto rooter on Friday because I had a clogged sewage there specialist ******* showed up and tried to clean it with the snake couple of times and he said he cannot do that. And he said that he will let the company know to call me Saturday and reschedule as soon as possible for a camera inspection of my sewage(he also explained that it will probably take 2 hours to fix, one hour to find and one hour to fix). No one called me on Saturday morning so I had to call and they scheduled me for camera inspection on Sunday 1-3 pm. No one showed up and I decided to call them around 5 pm the dispatcher told me that I'm next one in line for the camera and someone will be on the way shortly. I keep kept calling every 1,5 hours and always go to responds that someone will come and fix it today. Until around 9:45 pm that's when I called last time and they told me that they only have one camera guy and his shift was from 8-2 today, so why on earth you even schedule people and keep them waiting for the whole day. They told me they will call me tomorrow morning and they will escalate it to the board meeting whatever. Like the board members cared about my clogged sewage. I would already call someone else over the weekend but seems like they are trying to keep the customers on the hook. Very unprofessional do not do your business there spend $180 and there is nothing fixed.Roto-Rooter

I will never used Rotor rooter again. I was greatly over charged. I was charged 700$ for parts priced at 225. Then labor 1,800 $. Was taken advantage of. It’s really sad. Then the plumber was called back because the repair was not complete. Please don’t use this company or their water restoration service.Roto-Rooter

Roto Rooter is the biggest scam I have ever encountered. We had a leaky water line and had a rep come to our home that works with insurance. This rep told us if we needed excavation, it can be a couple thousand dollars along with cautioning us on the urgency for insurance purposes. We had an excavation manager come to our home and quote us $10,000 to fix the water line. The proposal had two days of work quoted and made the job seem way bigger than it actually was. The job was complete in 2 1/2 hours. Roto Rooter reduced the price to $8,000 after some discussion but they are unwilling to come further down. Our insurance agent said this is the most insane pricing he has ever encountered with this type of work. I cannot say it enough, do not use this company. Get a second and third opinion. Also, leave them a bad google review because google makes it seem like they're a good company. To Pat, the customer satisfaction manager. Your same generic response to each of these reviews is pretty telling. You guys clearly do not care and your predatory business practices are shameful. I will do everything in my power to make it known how poor this company is.Review fromChristian W

Do not consult Roto Rooter for anything. You will pay a fortune for them to solve NOTHING. We called them last night to unclog our water main and for $450:- They broke our clean out plug and the lip of our main water pipe. They just gobbed our pipe with putty and called it a night. - Refused to own up to breaking our pipe and fixing it.- Put our basement at greater risk of flooding - Fixed nothingThen they claim theyre going to send their supervisor for a second look, only to wait an hour and a half for this guy to blow us off and give us a blind estimate of $5500-$6500 for an issue he didnt even bother to look at. They will cause more harm than good to relentlessly upsell. If youre not willing to overpay youll be left with more problems and less money in your pocket.Roto-Rooter

I highly caution anyone looking for a sewer line replacement or any project requiring excavation. Roto Rooter caused a huge nightmare for me. They failed to get the project inspected, which caused the need to redo the project. That means they had to excavate my yard a second time due to shotty work the first time. It took them over three months to complete the job. They broke several electrical lines, left dead shrubbery in my yard, broke my landscaping lights, and left various debris on my property. The management clearly doesn't know what they are doing. Two managers gaslit me several times, manipulating the situation. The general manager clearly doesn't care because he never returned my emails or calls. These guys are not trustworthy and cause more harm than good. They are also very overpriced. Please think twice before hiring them. There are much better companies with integrity out there. It goes without saying that I would NEVER recommend this terrible company.Roto-Rooter

We contacted the company to come over for a plumbing job due to valve leak and need to replace the valve purely based on 4.8 google rating. Guess what, just to replace the valve, the company charged us 1344 dollars for the job. There are multiple issues with the technician and company. 1) They quote us 1100 for the labor. However, there is no detailed code associated with different type of the job to justify the labor. Afterwards, we complained to the company and realized that we were charged at commercial rate. However, we think we should be charged at residential rate because we do not have company and it is a residential building. 2) The technician left the job to buy the parts. However, there is no communication with the owner regarding the which parts he wants to buy. At the end, he bought a much larger parts which occupied a lot of space in our sink cabinet. 3) For the parts, he charged us 200 dollars, when we ask for the receipt, he mentioned that they do not provide us receipt. This really puzzled us. If the company has the parts, they should have the parts already. If they do not have and need to buy on-the-job. It should be on behalf of the client. 4) The technician is not willing to communicate and just simply mentioned that we should contact company for these issues.Review fromMike M

Company has discriminatory policies toward mobile home/modular home owners. When I initially called in no one asked what type of home it was. I was called the next day by a gentlemen who asked if it was a mobile home. They said they do not work on them for "liability" reasons. It just seems more like discrimination to me, but after reading a lot of the reviews here, which are not good. I am glad I did not use them.Roto-Rooter
