Astound Broadband is the worst Internet company with which I have ever done business. Astound Broadband tried to double my Internet fees by engaging in consumer price gouging. After two years, my fees greatly increased an additional $35 for basic Internet service, no cable; however, I stayed with the company. However, after four years of business, when they tried to increase my fees an additional 29%, I ended my service. Although I ended my service prior to the next pay period, they claimed that I had to pay for an additional month with the increase of 29% or be referred to a collection agency and be reported to a collection agency. I was told on the phone by customer service that I would be refunded the full amount, but instead, I received a threatening letter. In a time of high inflation, no one wants to do business with a company that treats its customers so poorly, lies and threatens them, and then doubles your fees.Astound Broadband powered by RCN

Hi:There was a lengthy Astound service outage in early November of 2022. For me this was a sign that whoever took over RCN was not capable of maintaining their service. That, coupled with unexpected rate increaseswhich made their basic internet service almost twice the going rate in the *** areapushed me to cut ties with their service.I kept the service on for a month's transition to a new provider, and when I went to return their equipment the drop-off location was so remote that it took time to get there (i.e. scheduling a drop off).I contested the charges / late fees that they wanted to sock me with. I offered to settle, but instead of negotiating they sent my bill to a collection agencyand then sent me a new offer for service at a cut rate (which will balloon in a few months).Terrible service... worse customer service.Astound Broadband powered by RCN

What Astound is not saying is they sold my debt to a horrible debt collectorit seems really spiteful, especially after I paid my bill on time (autopay) for two+ years before I decided to leave their service.I'm concerned b/c since I left I have received a number of promotional deals at way below market rate - I think Astound is running a ponzi-like promotional deal. They sign up lots of folks on a super discounted rate (which has a variable payment play) and then ratchet up the prices - so much so that when you go to leave there's a raft if late fees which apply.I suspect I'm not the only one who feels this way; I'll deal w/my situation BUT I hope no one else gets taken advantage of the way I believe I have.Review fromClaire G

If I could I would leave a negative 5 stars ************ is a scam ! I originally tried to set up service online but was directed to customer service due to "website error" (this should have been my first clue). The customer svc rep set up an install appt for the following Sat. No one showed up so I called customer svc again & was told there was no appt set but he would set one up. After he repeatedly tried to sell me on services I clearly did not want he informed me I needed to pay a $50 deposit "Just Because". I informed him again that I had my own equip. so did not understand why I needed to pay a ************ again said it was "Just Because" . I'm glad I did not sign up for service. I just hope my info is not going to be used for Identity theft.Astound Broadband powered by RCN

I never had a problem with RCN until they switch to Astound Broadband came into the picture. The service is pure trash! I work from home and have not had no internet for over 10 days. Four technicians and and two modems later still no internet but more waiting for another tech to come see what could be the problem. This interruption of service has impacted my job, my kids cant get on their online tutoring or do their homework. Astound Broadband is pure trash!! I have never seen such incompetency and lack of care in any service provider I have dealt with in all my life. Im switching to another internet provider immediately.Astound Broadband powered by RCN

According to advertisment on website you supppsed to get 5$ autopay credit. I never recievd entire year. When i called they told me to deactivate and reactivate account. But it didnt resolve issue than ****** told me because its new account it will be applied after 2 months so i paid 2 monnth regular charge now when i m calling after 2month they said because i did deactivate and reactivate its nt avaible for me which is not true. They misinformed when i signup they misinformaed when i try to disconnwct service. You cant talk to supervisor right away either 2 hours wait or get a call back in 2hours which they never give u call back.They charge you different amount than they tells you and they basically try to mislead customer and lied everytime u call and ask them resolve issueAstound Broadband powered by RCN

I am aware that RCN/Astound broadband was transitioning into a new format,however I am still trying to hold on before moving to a new provider. I don't think that a paying customer should have service abruptly denied while watching and then it was not restored until I made the call.This occurred on Feb. 27, 2023.Astound Broadband powered by RCN

i never had any trouble with WOW, but since astound has taken over the service is abysmal. my landline is constantly going out, as well as my internet. and i mean daily. "customer service" is sorely lacking. i've called in every day this week, and no one has been helpful until today. the usual answer is "there's an outage in your area". "they're working on it". when i requested someone to come and check the equipment, the answer was no. today i was lucky enough to get ****, who was very helpful, respectful, and easy to understand. she's sending someone out tomorrow. she was fabulous. i'm going to switch providers, if this continues.Astound Broadband powered by RCN

If this review goes only to the company, I won't even bother to write my complaint. It will be deleted. If, however, it goes public, I will try to explain my situation:1,} I have been a customer of ********************** for more than 30 years. They regularly increased their prices or made me subscribe to programs I don't want, like sports programs, or made me pay extra for programs with political content, like MSNBC, **** when they should be part of the the so-called bundle of charges.2.} President ***** was outraged at a $200.00 cable charge in his "State of the Union Address". I wonder what he would say about my bill for this month of nearly $300.00?3.} Ever since RCN was taken over by Astound, prices have increased dramatically. No wonder: the endless advertisings on TV must be paid for by people like me, who have practically no choice but to stick with RCN because after so many years staying with this company it is almost impossible to extract oneself from their clutches. The other cable company serving the *************, ***************** is just as greedy, i.e. expensive.4.} As I mentioned in paragraph 3, it would take the rest of my life to extract myself from RCN, so embedded is this company in my personal and financial life. I will never recommend RCN or its new name, Astound Powered by RCN, to any of my friends or acquaintances. And I will see to it hat this complaint lands in the in-box of the new Attorney General of ************, since I don't believe that I am the only one to have been stuck with these outrageous increases in prices.***************************Astound Broadband powered by RCN

I had to think about how to respond to the company's offer to "discuss" my bill. That is what they usually do: they make you call their endlessly-polite and patient agents, who either offer you to take away a service you need and want in order to lower your bill, or they try to find a supervisor who is not available for more than half an hour, by which your phone has long run out of power. This company has long given up on the concept of one charge for one year. I believe that the Attorneys General of both, ********** and ************ should investigate Astound Broadband for their billing practices and general take-over of RCN.T. D.

Astound Broadband sent me my new bill for this month and it is over $400.00. This company needs to be reported to the Attorneys General of ************ and ********** for price gouching. I am also considering writing an article for the local newspaper, The Morning Call, in order to warn people to think twice before subscribing to any cable company. When I moved in to my apartment in October, 2019, RCN was the only cable/internet service provider available to residents. My monthly cost at that time for basic cable/internet was $131.64. Each year I received an annual increase and by October, 2022 my monthly payment was $179.93. I received an increase on my bill due November 15, 2022 of an additional $26.42 bringing my monthly payment to $206.35. I received another bill due February 15, 2023 again raising my monthly payment to $229.78. An increase of $49.85 in 90 days! I contacted RCN customer service to verify the bill was not an error, explained I was a widowed senior and raising my monthly payment $50 in ********************************** I was told the bill was correct and the payment was due on February 15. Today I cancelled my service with RCN. When I called to cancel, I was told my February payment would be pro-rated. I would have to pay for service January 23 through February 6 - a total of 15 days. She went on to tell me that I would receive an email confirmation of my cancellation and a pro-rated invoice for $199.00!!!!!I might also mention that I had been watching and enjoying the Hallmark series, Chesapeake Shores. I was looking forward to the new season which was advertised on the Hallmark channel and noted the start date. The new season of Chesapeake Shores was not available as advertised, not then, not ever. I contacted RCN on line asking why the series was not being broadcast and received an email stating RCN had received my question and would get back to me. RCN never responded. I can attest to the fact that RCN is guilty of gouging prices and false advertising. ************Astound Broadband powered by RCN
