      i am a senior citizen and admit I don't know much about cable/internet equipment. But, Astound has been billing me for a piece of Internet equipment I have never had in my home. i only discovered it after a call to Astound to inquire about lowering my bill. We went through my ***************** by line. The woman told me she could remove that charge if I returned the device (which I don't have). I had them send a technician to my home who confirmed the device is not in my home.I am told the device is called an eero. On monthly bills, the fee is disguised as service instead of an equipment rental. My bill calls it "enhanced wifi". That billing line is actually a rental fee for a device that is plugged into an electrical source. in total, I have paid $388.12 over the last 3 years for this device I don't have. i have been in contact with Astound 7 times this month with various Astound people and to date have no response to remedy to the $388.12 I have paid for this device. Their comment each time is the case is still open. Based on a search, I found consumers can file a complaint with the *** who will investigate cable companies who have been billing customers for equipment they don't have. They describe it as similar to cramming the unauthorized placement of charges on telephone bills -- negative option billing burdens customers with the responsibility of contacting a cable company to dispute the charges and obtain refunds. Well, I am one of those consumers and I filed a claim with the *** this morning.

      I am a long time internet/email customer of **********************/******************** with my own web server and domain. I have found it necessary to write a Review (like this) to get the appropriate level of attention to problems requiring an Internet engineer - in particular, first and second level **************** are no help for problems with the *** service. As an ISP, RCN/Astound should have SOMEONE available to fix entries in their *** database; I am hoping the Ombudsman who responds to this Review can help me reach such a person.The particulars are that ************ now rejects all email from my domain to addresses in gmail.com. This is a new development, resulting from a new initiative to reduce spam to gmail readers by requiring SPF or DKIM certification of the sending domain. It is a new ****** policy, but it IS NOT ******'s problem; it is RCN/Astound's problem and they are responsible for adding SPF records for all domains (like mine) for which they host the *** and MX records. I repeat: this is RCN/Astound's problem, so please get me in touch with an Internet engineer who can make the appropriate entries in the RCN *** database.

      I canceled my internet with Astound in October because I was moving to a new apartment that had a different internet provider. Astound charged me for the month of December, provided me with no notice that the charge was even on my account, and then sent the debt to collections 9 months later. My only notice that this even happened was an alert from a credit union that my credit score had tanked. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

      We were wow customers and kept astound when they acquired wow. Our service keeps getting worse and worse while the cost goes up. Their website doesn't even have a place to report an internet outage. Horrible company if I could rate it negative stars I would.

      I wish I could give zero stars. I pay for 1 gig but have never had more than.5 gig. Now the whole system goes down regularly and they cant say if they will get it fixed in an hour,day , week or month. **************** is horrible. Wait times by phone or chat suggests a 2 to 4 minute wait but always takes at least 15 minutes. When you finally reach someone they cant give you any information about the outage or when service will be restored. Absolutely terrible.

      Terrible business!I started an account for ******************** service and was told I would receive one month free with the current promotion. I called when my first bill was $84, and the customer service rep told me to disregard the first bill. She said I would not be charged and the autopayment date would be updated to the end of the next month. When I was billed anyway, I called back, and the next rep told me I was given the wrong information, that the "free month" could be any month. Cool...I was told I wouldn't be billed, so I asked if they could reverse the charge or credit me for being lied to essentially. They said they couldn't do anything, so I called my bank and explained the situation. They did a chargeback. Then I got a new bill with late charges. I called again to cancel service, and this person wanted to explain the "free month" to me - again, missing the entire point. I was told I would not be billed, and then I was. She told me a supervisor would review the calls and get back to me by phone. That never happened. I returned my equipment within a couple of days and got a bill for over $400 for equipment that was in transit back to them...I can't believe this company continues to do business. I have a bill due by the end of this month for 30 days of terrible internet service ($84), and this has been a huge waste of my time on the phone because this company refuses to offer any help by any means other than calling. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

      I would give Astound zero stars if I could. I ended my contract with RCN as I was ************ and my new home location did not support RCN's service. I returned the equipment that was given to me (modem/router). In Astound's records, they had listed that a TiVO device was also leased to me. I had never received (or used) a TiVO device. Since I did not return the TiVO Device (since you can't return what you never had), I was charged a fee. I called to dispute the fee and I was told that someone from RCN would reach out in 2-3 days either by phone or email to discuss the outcome of my dispute. I did not hear anything for almost two weeks. At that time, I received a collections notice from a third party collector. When I called RCN, they did not look into whether the device - I was allegedly leased - was even utilized. Do not use RCN - their record-keeping is flawed and they will - mid-dispute - make a collections claim. I paid the amount just to put the whole ordeal behind me, but awful, awful business practices.

      Worst internet ********** can waste. this is the worst internet service I have ever had it constantly cuts out and when it does you can be sure you will never get someone on the phone, the customer service line will not allow you to talk to someone while the internet is out and it will just hang up on you. go somewhere else, and if the place you live only offers this company RUN!!

      Had them for years now and i pay for faster speeds and I get massive lag spikes throughout the week and frankly it's terrible. I had **** mbps today and it's laughable. It happens regularly and it shouldn't because i live in ******. It's not like i'm in a hard to service area or something. Would not recommend. I can't switch because ******* isn't in my area and ******* is contractual.

      Would not help me after I signed a contract under false pretenses, instead saying that I need to get in touch with the sales rep myself to fix it, even though he is not responding.I initially asked the sales rep if the *** fee, which was left blank on the contract, was included in the monthly price he quoted me or if it would be sepatate. He said (in text) "Yes. I include it in all my pricing that's just the sales sheet", I therefore signed the contract.He was either uninformed or lying to make the sale, because on my bill that fee is in addition to the quoted monthly price. I called customer service to try to reduce my bill to the amount that I signed on to pay, and they said they would not credit me and I have to work with the sales rep directly (who is not responding to me) even though it is their employee. They said they can't see on their end who the rep was and they did not even ask me his name. Astound must not care if its salespeople lie to make a sale.
