They deserve no stars. I have been member of Car Shield since 09/21/2019 faithfully paying my $109 monthly premiums on time with this being my first claim in over 30 months of payments. My engine check light came on and I went to one of the *** Certified facilities. After engine diagnosis, it was revealed that I needed a new rear Oxygen sensor, as well as a new catalytic converter and the entire exhaust system needed changing due to rust issues. I also needed 3 new fan belts changed. I also needed a rear shock absorber changed. The *** Certified facility went to bat for me advocating on my behalf to no avail. The total repairs came to $2,938.79. Car Shield would only pay for the new Oxygen sensor totaling $230.35. They wouldn't even pay for the rear shock absorber that is part of a cares suspension system even though they claimed that "suspension" problems were to be covered.I don't trust this company at all now. Their TV ads are deceptive. They are s******* many of **...especially seniors who are veterans like myself. Something needs to be done. DON'T TRUST CAR SHIELD!CarShield

CarShield requested that the Administrator of your Vehicle Service Contract examine your claim based on the review you have provided. The results of this investigation indicate that the failure of the parts requested for replacement occurred prior to the purchase of the Vehicle Service Contract or during the waiting period of the Vehicle Service Contract. Therefore, this failure is not covered by the Vehicle Service Contract.Review fromSandy S

Carshield is such a scam. For months I paid on a policy. Only to have my first repair to be denied. I saved receipts. Two oil changes every year. New battery new tires. Fluids fill by a certified mechanic. Transmission started slipping. I had it looked at during the oil change. Don't know what more I could have done to protect myself other than to have saved my money for the repair myself. $7,000 thanks for nothing extended warrantyCarShield

We signed up for CarShield on December 11, 2022. We took our vehicle to the shop on February 16, 2023. As of that date, 68 days had gone by. Our contract stated our coverage begins after 40 days AND 250 miles. We did not know that we would be cutting it so close with our contract coverage begin date, but luckily for us when our vehicle needed some repairs we were good to go according to the contract! We contacted CarShield and started the claim process and then took the vehicle into the shop and gave them all of CarShields info. The shop contacted CarShield and was told that CarShield would NOT be paying a dime to them because we were still in our waiting period. According to our contract we are NOT in the waiting period, but now we are stuck with a bill that should have been covered. Do not get CarShield unless you want to pay $140/month for absolutely nothing!CarShield

My service representative at my dealership had cleared work to be done on my 2013 Camry. He had called into Car Shield twice to make sure the cost of the work would be covered. He was told to set the date for the repair, on that date he was to call in with the mileage and the date. When he called to give that data, he was informed that the parts and repairs on my vehicle would not be covered due to the fact that the parts had not 'failed'. Car Shields' definition of part failure was NOT defined in the contract we had been paying on for 3 years.Failure, according to Car Shield, for this part, is defined as the deterioration of the bushing at the linkage connection at the end of the part. This bushing has absolutely no function aside from providing a cushion preventing the connecting parts from impacting each other during normal operations. The part in question was no longer able to perform its primary function due to age and use (which is what we purchase Car Shield for in the first place). The suspension part is covered under our Diamond Plan.So 'failure' as defined by pretty much the entire mechanical community - defined as the inability to perform a primary function - is not how Car Shield CHOOSES to define failure. I escalated from the customer ********************** representative to a supervisor who proceeded to insult my intelligence, by asking if I had read my contract agreement, even going so far as to tell me where to find the specific exclusions to repair coverage for the part in question. I responded by asking him if the part was non-functional, how could that not constitute operational failure. He had no answer.I told him that we would be cancelling our coverage immediately.A non-operational part is a failed part.Do not insult your customers and expect to retain them.DO NOT BUY THIS INSURANCE Even my service guy dislikes this company.Review fromGregory F

Another company that should not be sewing Better Business Bureau Because they are terrible calkashil I have called them and they give you all different numbers just like every other warranty company you get the run around I had car shield for 6 months, And I had to have one clean Took hours to get the right offthen once my mechanic got the right office they said that they would have to take the part apart, And send pictures before they would pay for a covered part , So I already knew that the part was covered, But they stalled just so they would not have to pay a claimCarShield

I’ve spoke with a claims representative *****. Long story short this was the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. The call was to get the information that American auto shields was covering in my claim. Yet ***** wasn’t able to provide that information. His response was maybe you should call the dealership and find that out…. Excuse me? I have an 18 minute recording of the call from him speaking over my grandmother and deeming that his job is in fact frustrating. I’ve waited almost 10 minutes for him to get a supervisor only for him to end the call. Mind you I do have a record of this all. 2/17/23 around 4:10pm est. this company is trying to make my grandmother pay out of pocket for an expense that was approved by them for repair. Her transmission has failed, this company has approved the repair of $1900 and also wants her to pay $2000 out of pocket for the repairs… This is crazy.CarShield
