I reserved and paid for my weekend car rental a month in advance of my labor day vacation ($40/day). Once I arrived at the airport, I received a message that the vehicle that I reserved was no longer available. After waiting in line for an hour, the representative at the counter convinced me that an electric vehicle would not be my best option. She slid me a signature panel and instructed me to wait for my name to be called. After another 30 min wait, I was handed some papers and the keys to a car. That same night, a quarter til midnight, while out with friends, the car broke down on the side of the road. After some back and forth with a service ************** assistance, it was determined that the alternator was not working, and the car would need to be towed back to the office for repair. The following day, around noon, I picked up a different car from the same site. I inquired about a credit or consideration from the agent and she advised me to contact billing. The rest of the weekend went by without incident. When I returned home, I noticed that there were extra charges on my debit and credit card (~$350). When I inquired with a representative via email, I received a response that the charges were for upgrade **************** coverage and sent me a signed receipt. I replied that I had not never any upgrades and had declined any extra coverage when I originally rented the car. I then explained that no additional fees had ever been disclosed to me by the agent on-site and that the signature he produced was applied electronically to the receipt. I also inquired about a refund for the amount of time that no vehicle was in possession due to the original car malfunctioning. I only received one follow-up, stating that there was nothing else that could be done to assist me. I would never agree to pay 3x the amount for coverage I already have through my insurance and had already declined the fees in my original agreement.

I have to say my experience with Thrifty was too good to be true. What a scam of a company. I signed up for all the perks on my 4-day business trip to *******. They purposely did not add Plate pass to my account so that they can charge a $9.99 convenience fee. I even went as far as speaking w the agent at the counter who assured me, I had coverage for tolls. Predatory practices at this company. I have a company of 700 employees and have sent a corporate email to never use Thrifty. Toll coverage should automatically be offered and applied in 2024. However Thrifty leaves it out purposely to take advantage of their customers. I will be reporting this to ******************** as this is just a gross abuse of predatory practices. I have a 2-year daughter that I could have spent $91.00 on groceries for. I now have to pay that in tolls for 4 days in ******* because of Thrifty, when my rental agreement was $76.00. I ended up paying more in tolls than I did for my vehicle. What a scam, never again!

Had a very unfortunate experience with Thrifty/Wise Cars that has made me never want to use or recommend them again. After booking a car and prepaying online, I arrived to pick up the vehicle and was told I needed to put a card on file for incidentals. The attendant explained that there would be a hold placed on the card and the charge would be released once we returned the car. Sounded very standard so I provided my card and signed the agreement. I was charged over $500 for protection and additional services I did not agree to. However, after my trip concluded and I got home, the charge did not reverse. After reaching out multiple times to Thrifty/ Wise Cars, they say there is nothing they will do to help because I signed a contract at the desk. Regardless of how many times I explained that the “contract” I signed is not what I was told I was paying for nor something I ever would have agreed to, they won’t budge. They took advantage of me as an older woman and turned a standard $300 car rental into over $800 in fees I did not agree to. I will never be using this company again and strongly urge that no one else does either. They are not an honest business and will swindle you out of all your money.

Thrifty is absolutely horrible. I would never rent from them again. It's impossible to get a live person on the phone, and when you fill out the form, nobody returns your call. Next time I'll pay the extra and go to another car rental company.

If I could leave NO STARS I would.Refusing their rental insurance will cost you....the rental. That's what happened to me in ******* **. I had my own insurance. The agent was adamant I needed more...theirs. I even looked it up online under FL insurance laws. HE outright lied to me. Is a commission really all that? He even got his manager involved. This took all of 20 minutes (while a line of customers waiting patiently). Finally out of nowhere my reservation was rejected based on get this...my driver ** being damaged. It has a tiny crack missing on the edge, the size of a mustard seed. BUT that is reason to reject the reservation. NOW, interesting enough this was to be my 3rd rental from this airport, the first two from another agency. No problem with them. All of this over because I did not want the liability insurance. Me, never again, Funny thing. It was a 2 week rental. SO income lost to them...over what???

DO NOT Rent from Thrifty!!! Very misleading, unexplained charges and unwilling to work with customers. Mistakenly took keys and no one was present when vehicle was returned to at least ask or confirm keys (Budget does this). Updated receipt with charge for missing keys arrived 2 days later and when we called to ask if we could overnight the keys they said no because it had been past 24 hours since the car was returned. How were we supposed to return what we didn't realize we had taken. $250 charge, plus an unexplained $99 for "missing equipment". According to Thrifty we rented an EV, we corrected this at rental and upgraded. Yet in their terms "missing equipment" refers to additional items provided like charging adapter for an EV. We did not rent an EV and yet they still charged us for missing equipment we never received. Of course I reached out to Thrifty and they responded basically that policy is policy, and have yet to explain what the missing equipment was. I asked them to please review the receipt and they said everything is correct, no refund is warranted. Never ever again, stay away from this company. They do not care or value your business like they claim and are full of hidden fees. A $180 standard rental was ultimately $880. Trying to file a credit card dispute at this time, horrible customer service. Mistakes happen, including their own. Don't become another victim.

WORSE RENTAL COMPANY EVER My car that I rented from Houston broke down in Louisiana, they gave me to run around I was stuck in Louisiana for a few days because of the car breaking down I was caught in hurricane Beryl, that’s caused me to missing my flight that I would’ve caught off the car didn’t break down, had to play for a hotel for two nights and get another plane ticket. There customer service is the worse even the manager at the IAH airport, the don’t return emails or calls. I’ve been trying to get compensated for over a month now. The manager was suppose to take care of my toll which I’m still receiving bills and I also spent my own money for a battery for the fob that the suppose to been compensating for that also and haven’t. THE WORSE SERVICE EVER. NEXT STEP IS FOR ME TO LAWYER UP
