I prepaid $270 for my rental for the week. When we checked in we extended the rental for an additional 3 days and was told total was $470. After returning rental they charged my card the $470 instead of deducting the $270 that was already prepaid. When I contacted them they stated that I signed for the additional $470. I will never use thrifty car again and would not recommend them to anyone. Don't waste your time and book with any other company but them.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! I have in the past several times and will never again. I was misinformed/mislead when picking up the rental and surprised when my final charges hit my credit card after returning the car. They are offering no refund to me as they stated I signed the agreement. What I signed was an estimate of charges. Also, I did the car rental through a third party and was charged insurance twice, once from 3rd party and again from Thrifty. When the agent said no refund would be granted and I asked to speak to a supervisor, no one was available. I WILL NOT EVER RENT FROM THEM AGAIN AND WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE! RIP OFF!!!!

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. The thrifty location in Kearney NE single handedly ruined my honey moon we planned 10 months for.
My husband and I started on our road trip and unfortunately had car trouble so we had to opt for a rental in Kearney.
They did not tell us 1. There were no credits for early returns 2. There were mileage limitations. I emailed the Kearney office asking if they would allow an early return and they did not respond. My husband called the next day and nicely explained to the owner Darin that if we knew there were mileage limitations we would not have rented the car because it's purpose was for a road trip. The owner yelled at my husband and hung up on him. Since we were trapped in the vehicle and couldn't continue with miles, we returned the vehicle after only 4 days of having it causing me to miss out on reservations for activities and hotels that I had booked on our road trip plan 10 months prior. They charged us $2000. This is so unethical and they literally fraudulently took our money during this tough time of Covid and inflation. And on top of them charging us $2000 for 4 days of a vehicle, we lost $1500 in missed reservations on our trip we ended up not finishing. And on top of all of this, I emailed them to ask for a receipt so we could see why they charged so much and they ignored my emails. Do not rent from here.

Worst car rental company. Had a reservation, but had to wait 2 hours for a car. Will never rent from this company ever again.

We rented a care in Phoenix on 6/25 for 6 day for $380.11 and they charged us an additional $637.09 in hidden fee for a total of $ 1017.20 - unbelievable and and incredibly poor way of doing business. I will never rent another car from Thrifty.

I rented a car in Columbus Ohio from thrifty car rental at Port Columbus Airport. Upon receiving my car I noticed there were cigarette ashes in the center consul and on the seat I contacted the 800 number they told me I could have a new car or just keep the existing one I agreed to keep the one I had because I was on a tight time schedule. Upon returning the car two days later I was charged with $400 miscellaneous fees Once again I contacted the 800 number And was told that the airport Thrifty is not part of their company it's a private owned company using their name they gave me a contact number for them which has been disconnected. I found another number for the manager at Thrifty at the airport to know prevail go straight to voicemail does not return calls. I do not recommend renting from this company

Thanks to Alaska air we were delayed arriving to fort laurderdale and were unable to get our car rental because the business closed at 10pm. I ended up going to thrift car rental at the fort laurderdale airport where the front desk told me they only had car rentals starting at $189 a day! I told him that was high and he instructed that, that was all they had. When I told him not to include insurance because I am fully covered, he said "oh it's already included." Well he lied!!!' $597 dollars later for 3 days! Called customer service and they can care less and said, "well you signed." Thrifty hires liars and probably pays its employees to lie! Never again! I would rate them a negative zero!!'nn

Our flight home was cancelled from Tampa and rescheduled to leave from the Orlando airport. Thrifty did not work with us and offer any customer service. We were forced to drive to the original airport the vehicle came from. They told us if we wanted to drive the car to the Orlando airport it would be a $3,000 charge. They didn't care to offer any help, did not show remorse for our situation in traveling with children and elderly family members. They just wanted their car back even though we would have been dropping it off to another Thrifty location. We will NEVER rent from Thrifty again, nor will any of my family members affected by our the inconvenience.

I rented a car through hopper and that amount was applied to the rental. HOWEVER, even though I explicitly told the agent that I did not want insurance because I have USAA insurance. When I provided my card I was told that this was for a deposit and that it would be released after the car was returned. After reviewing my credit card statement I realized that there was still a charge on my card for $351.80. After consulting with hopper, they explained that the amount charged was due to me purchasing insurance. I would very much like a refund for something I DID NOT request. As you can see from other reviews on the BBB website this is a disturbing pattern.

Please DO NOT rent with Thrifty from the Palm Springs Airport, they will try to scam you! We rented a mid-size car for 6 days in late April online prior to arriving in Palm Springs, which we paid for in advance. When we got to the Thrifty agency to pick up our car, the Thrifty Representative said he'd be able to get us a better deal than what we received online. I told him as long as I wasn't paying more than the original price that I've already paid that we would be more than happy to get a better price. He said that my original amount that I paid would be refunded on my credit card and I would just have to sign off on the new price for the rental amount. When I wasn't seeing the original amount refunded on my credit card, I contacted the Palm Springs Thrifty agency and told them that I wasn't seeing a refund on my credit card that I was promised. The Representative said that the amount that I signed off on was IN ADDITION to what I already paid since the car was "upgraded" and that I signed the amount to pay the additional fees. This was an outright LIE from the Thrifty representative so he could upsell a car to us but disguise it as a "better deal" since I wouldn't be able to see my credit card not being reimbursed until after we left. I SPECIFICALLY said I didn't want to pay anything above the original price and he said that I wouldn't be and this was a better deal. Please DO NOT support this type of shady business practice or at least be aware of them trying to "give you a better deal" when you pick up your car and scamming you of additional money. They have lost a customer and I hope they lose more since this was such a dishonest way to make an extra buck.
