Worst experience of my life yesterday afternoon at ************************************. Made my reservation in July for a Managers' Special (thought I would try something new). After checking in online and attempting to do a counterless check in, app kept telling me there were no available cars. Finally had to go to counter. The nasty, rude, ill-mannered woman at the counter told me 'that is only a reservation. It is Friday afternoon. We have no cars.' ***!!!? It ended up being a loud yelling match with cussing in the big main room in front of everyone. That woman needs to be fired!! What is wrong with your company? Is this what you consider customer service. I am still reeling about the situation! In conclusion, I did get the absolute worst car on the lot! Scratched, dented, and with 60k miles on it. Not worth more than $25 per day. Now I can get to MA to care for elderly mother. Thanks Thrifty, for the making a tough trip harder than it already is!!

Rented at ***** per day for 2 days. When I got to *************** I was charged an extra $$100 for an "upgrade" when they gave me an electric that I did NOT ASK FOR and I exchanged for a fuel car. Also they aske to SWIPE credit cards and 3 of my cards got stopped because they're chip cards that should not be swiped. RIPOFF!!!!!!!!!!

Do not rent a car through Thrifty! It was a nightmare. Got in late, had to wait in line quite a while. They gave me an electric car instead of gas. The employee said it would be no problem there’re are changing stations everywhere. Not true! We missed out on a planned tour due to the fact that charging stations were sparse. The first one would’ve taken 6 hours the next one was 2 hours. At that time we were charged $76.00 for charging fees! Gas was under $3.00 a gallon so by them dumping this Pulsar electric car on us cost way more than a gas car would have. I reserved a SUV and got this small electric sardine can. So uncomfortable and small that getting in and out of the back was hard! I’m going to see if they will do anything to rectify this awful experience but, from all the reviews I’ve read I don’t think they will do anything. So to top it off….terrible customer service is a part of how Thrift operates it’s company ????

We just had the worst experience at the one at the **************. Picking up a car took way too long because they didn't know how to manually enter a license they had trouble scanning. When we returned the car, there was an issue. The employee refused to give us his name. The manager - ****** - was highly unprofessional, the worst. She was rude and extremely confrontational. ***** this company!

On September 26th 2024 I rented from thrifty in *****************************. I had booked my reservation for a mid sized car a few weeks before our travel. In my 40 years of traveling as a communications technician and executive, I have never experienced this level of poor service. The line to pick up your car had less than 20 people and took over 40 minutes with 3 to 4 agents. I couldn't understand the delay until I reached the counter. My 323 dollar reservation turned into over ********************************************************** to sign and pay. When I had her break down the drastic increase. She had offered an upgrade without stating the cost. Then after asking me for my auto insurance company name, she tried to add thrifty's car insurance. When I insisted she remove thrifty's insurance, she said the car would show no insurance and tried to pressure me to take their basic plan. She also tried to pressure me to purchase their refueling service. Which might have been cheaper per gallon than local stations, but after multiple questions, I discovered they charged for a full tank, regardless of the amount you used. Now I'm getting upset over their bait and switch practice and the time it's taking us to complete our transaction. I requested her to give me back my initial rental car at the agreed price. She kept trying to talk me out of that and finally asked if I had *** or other potential discount cards. I kept the upgraded vehicle with the *** discount. But didn't find out until I returned the auto on October 1st they had charged me a ****** dollar deposit. I assume because I refused their insurance. The agent I returned the car with informed me the deposit would be credited. In 40 plus years of travel in over 30 states, I have never experienced this level of shadey business practices. Thrifty gets a failing grade for lack of ethics and pressure to upsale without full disclosure of the associated costs. And also for time to process customers transaction.

Drove from Hurricane ****** so got an extra day. $988 later in charges. I paid with credit card points. Pretty sure it has something to do with that. They were going to charge me anyways. $200 for not filling the car up. My fault, but this is absolutely insane. Manager Candy blamed it for being an hour late, ok I was. I came from a category 3 hurricane straight to the hospital to see my dad in IMU at memorial *******. Was willing to pay that. Doesnt amount to the charges in my opinion. This place is a legit scam. I was sobbing, who has the money for something like that? You all are ripping off innocent people. In the end, I paid around $3,000 for the rental. Asked the manager, Candy for her name, told her she will have to deal with God knowing she works for a company scamming people and as Im walking away she starts CHASING after me and her **************** have to hold her back. Are you freaking kidding me? Was she going to attack me? Have some EMPATHY. Please read the reviews on this place. For documentation purposes, this happened at *** around 8:15 PM on October 1, 2024.

Horrible company, the worst customer experience ever, no one answers a phone and not even a response to my emails. I rented a car with 5,000 miles on it that shook terribly at any speed over 60. The smell of cigarette and marijuana came through the vents as soon as the car was started. Remote worked half the time and car missing some interior panels. Terrible company, don't rent from them

Recently I rented a car from thrifty and while the car was fine no complaints my issue is with the driver who was taking us back to the terminal. We had returned our car to thrifty and boarded the bus with no ********** we made the rounds to the terminals the driver insisted on chastising every driver that was in the wrong lanes blocking her path thru her microphone. When people departed the bus she kept on insisting that people move to the back. I told her I didnt want to move as I would be getting off at the next terminal and the people who should move are the people who boarded at the terminal since they were going to the rental agency. She continued arguing and threatened to have me removed by the police. When we arrived at my terminal she purposely hip checked me and claimed I pushed her. This happened 9/30/2024 at ***. I am sure this is not the first complaint about this driver. She is rude aggressive combative and has no place in your organization. I hope that this is not behavior you tolerate. I now will do my best not to rent from thrifty.

I rented through ******* and chose the deal Thrifty had. I had selected the "wild card" rental but was given a Tesla without one helpful tip as to how to deal with unlocking, driving, charging this newer technology. This was an inappropriate placement for someone on a business trip with very little time to spare to deal with charging the vehicle. I was unsuccessful with charging the car, despite locating a Tesla compatible charging station and downloading the app while standing outside in 100 degree heat. Therefore, I went up to the customer service desk when I returned the car (the next day... two days early on a three day rental) Thrifty charged me more than 50 cents per mile (41 miles for $22.45). They chose not to accommodate my request to waive the charging fee despite being able to validate that I did attempt to charge the car. The wait time at counter was unreasonably long at both pick up and check in. This seemed to be due to Thrifty staffing the desk with only one ***resentative for both check in and check out. His manager would not talk with me when the desk *** called him. Instead he made the choice to put his corporate overlords ahead of a reasonable request from a customer. This was my absolute worst car ********************** experience, and I am a well traveled person. I contacted the manager at the location where I rented from, and I emailed corporate and still have not heard back. Steer clear of this company.

Thrifty is a very dishonest company. I made my reservation at a cost of 700 plus tax for 21 days which I paid ahead except the tax. My American debit card was covering the Insurance as always did on other car rentals. The woman at the SFO Thrifty counter told me that because I had a Brazilian drivers license I had to pay an insurance that ended up making the total amount up to 1700. We are talking about way more than double than my initial reservation. I left with the car feeling I had been cheated and three days later I decided I didn't want to continue with this rental. They agreed to get the car back charging me for 3 days a total of 398 dollars. Never refunded the money I initially paid when made the reservation. No person to talk. They just pass the responsability to my bank. I mean if that is not dishonest, what is?
