If we could leave a negative 10 we would. Worse experience ever. They had our car towed knowing it was ours while renting a cargo van and won't do a thing about it. Lied and told the property manager that it was abandoned by a Uber driver. We call and they just hang up on us. Overland Park, KS location. Please don't wver use them. Rudest little boys in the office. Until Hertz calls and reimbursements us for the bill we will tell everyone we see.

I paid $130 in advance for a cargo van to move my things.l When I arrived to the Leominster location to pick up the vehicle they said they didn't have one. No help. Just an offer of a much smaller vehicle that was not going to help. I'll never do business with them again.!

Beware! If you're returning one of their vehicles on Sunday. The day they're closed for business! Make sure you check the bottom of your agreement to see what time they have assigned you to return vehicle. They will tell you to bring it back whenever on Sunday, in hopes you will bring it back past return time they assigned you. They will then charge you for an additional full days rental. Shady business scheme. Associate asked me if I thought Hertz Gastonia, NC was trying to benefit by ripping people off for one extra days rental. I said: If you're doing it to a 1000 Sunday returns that come in past the return time you assigned, but didn't tell customers about, F*** yes, your benefiting Hertz Gastonia, NC

Don't rent your car over here! They are liars and they will steal your money. We rent a car for not even a day to go to Toronto (we rent it from Hertz at YUL airport). The agent told us it will cost 350$ and we asked him if there will be other fees and he told us. They didn't give us the contract so we can read it, and told us to sign it. Next thing we know, they charge us 450$. There was fees that thay charge us and didn't tell us when we asked him. They charge 3,69$/L (what a scam!!). And they charge us 15$/day because they said we deposit the car late (we have video proof that we deposit the car in time, but whatever they are brain dead). Don't rent from here!! Not honest with their client, never going here again.

Actually no stars. I attempted to rent a car today by calling them. I was renting a car for 3 days and they were going to charge me over $500 with a discount. I was suppose to receive a confirmation within 5 minutes via email. After 30 minutes I called customer support, but they had no record of a car rental for me and did not understand why I was upset that my car rental reservation was not entered. They did not understand I was concerned especially since their employee had taken my credit card number. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told, after being put on hold, that none were available. They said one would call me within the hour. I cancelled that credit card. They never did call me back. I booked a car through another agency for under $300, same type of car, for the same dates and location. This company is awful!!!!

I was told over a month ago my rental was squared away. Yesterday, I was surprised to wake up and find my account overdrawn. The reason? Hertz had charged me $500 after the fact using the card they had on file. No call, no email, nothing. I already paid before and was told that I was "good to go." I have done more research into reviews and other customer experiences and it looks like this is a regular occurrence with Hertz nationwide. No wonder their business is failing. Stealing money is not a good look. They took money from someone just because they could and it was at a time where they were at their lowest. It is gross and underhanded. At least Honda and Progressive were both upfront about how terrible they were handling the situation. Hertz is a different kind of evil.

I rented a car from hertz and was asked if I wanted to prepay for gas at their rate which was lower that the going rate at the time. I agreed, gave my credit card for the deposit and this was the transaction. Upon returning the car even though I only used half a tank they charged me for a full tank and refused to "refund me for fuel" which I find amusing because they didn't use that money to fill the tank with fuel as it was already half full. No one told me that I was paying for a tank of gas, I was told the rate and assumed like other companies in the past they would just fill it and charge me the cost. Then when I reached out to customer service it took them days to get back to me and their response was "they encourage their customers to return the car with as little gas as possible". I was never told this, and I'm not sure if they wanted me to drive the car around in circles at the airport before returning it? I visited for a short trip and only used half a tank of gas, never had to fill on my trip. This is a stupid policy and it is not looking out for the best interest of their customers. I think if you have to make a statement on the recording of your customer service line regarding this issue (which there is) then there's a problem with the policy not with the customers. I will never again rent from hertz.

I rented a car from Hertz at the Detroit airport in May 2022. The reservation was pre-booked through a third party. I waited in line for 30 mins to pick-up the car. When I got to the counter, the agent pulled-up my reservation and said, "For a $10 upgrade, you can grab and go." This is when they have a group of cars ready to go and you don't have to wait. Sounded good to me. I was given the Total Estimated Charge of $98.80 for the one day rental and I was on my way. BTW, the car I got was a small SUV which was what I had reserved (there was no upgrade). When I returned the car one day later (less than 24 hrs later), the tank was filled. My credit card, however, showed a charge of $537.29. When I called, I was told that I hadn't returned the car for four more days. Eventually this was corrected and I was credited back $391.43. This brought the total charges to $145.86. I call again - I'm told that there was a $49 airport charge fee. The numbers don't make sense for that. Then it was a $50 grab and go fee. No, that was only $10. I went around and around with the very nice girl on the phone, but nothing made sense. As of now, I am waiting for a supervisor to call me back. That will take 24-48 hours. Can't wait! Bottom line, I won't be using Hertz again. There "Total Estimated Charge" document is nothing of the sort - it does not include all possible charges.

Hertz charged for a cleaning fee of $200.00 for smoke smell in the vehicle when the smoke smell was already in the vehicle when the vehicle was rented out. The employees Craig W******* Manager Associate fraudulently charged a $200.00 cleaning fee after consulting with and asking Charles B**** Manager Trainee and Charles B**** Manager Trainee stated that he would charge the cleaning fee so then Craig W******* Manager Associate proceeded to charge the $200.00 cleaning fee. The fraud committed by the employees should be illegal, if it is not already illegal. Also, Donna R**** Manager Associate II refused to assist.

I rented a car for the Masters, a once in a life time opportunity to say the least. The vehicle broke down, it happens no ones fault, I called the road side service, they dispatched a tow truck and instructed me to go to the nearest Hertz rental to get a replacement, my wife and her friend grab a Lift to the airport, a hour away missing almost half a day of the masters, my friend and I walked the rest of the way to get to the Masters, again things like this happen. The road side Hertz operator told us to save our receipts for our Lift expense that would be reimbursed, not only are they not reimbursing me for that they charged me $127 refueling charges on the broken down vehicle and also refuse to reimburse me for the $246 rental charge on the the replacement vehicle, I had already paid for the the entire rental that broke down through expedia. After 10 phone calls and without a shadow of a doubt 8 hours of being on the phone, they told me that their was nothing wrong with the vehicle that broke down so they will not reimburse me, such a crock of , and if I dispute the charges on my American express I will get the money back but then they will put me on a do not rent to list and NO rental company will rent to me in the future, so NEVER use Hertz or Dollar they have the worst customer service in the world. I have never done this in my life, this is the first time I have ever written a bad review, not my style. Just didn't want anyone else to get ripped off by these two terrible companies (actually one)
