If I could give zero stars I would. The fact that we made a reservation back in May over a month ago & they have no car available. Been here for 2 1/2 hours still waiting on a car. We were told over 30 mins ago we'd only be waiting 15 mins. What a joke still here waiting.. My time has been wasted on my vacation that I'll never get back. They don't care though because they already have their money from us so doesn't matter to them. So me & mines will never rent from them again. NEVER!

I prepaid in 12/2021 to rent a 7 passenger van for my families vacation in 6/2022, as we were worried our personal vehicles were not mechanically sound enough to make a 1,252 mile round trip drive. The 1st vehicle that I picked up broke down on the expressway with my children and 3 month old grandchild. We were able to get to a safe location and call hertz roadside assistance. Roadside assistance put us on hold for 25 minutes, hung up on us twice, then sent us to billing twice when asked to speak to a manager. Roadside assistance also suggested we find a hotel and pay out of our pockets for it until a hertz near by opened the next morning and drive the van that kept breaking down on us to said hotel and to hertz. We had no other options but to drive the van on to our destination as it continued to break down the rest of the way there. What should have been a 9 hour drive took is 16 hours. Which caused us to miss out on 1/2 a day of our vacation then the next day we had to drive to a hertz to get a new van another 1/2 day of vacation missed. The 2nd van we received from hertz battery kept dying on us, we had to buy jumper cables, as roadside assistance refuses to help and had to jump it multiple times. When I returned the vehicle to hertz I told them what happened expecting a refund the only thing they offered me was $150 off my next rental which is no good to me as I would never rent from them again.

UNKNOWN UPGRADE BAIT AND SWITCH - Went from $272.56 to $687.26 My friend and I were really looking forward to our 3-night trip to Honolulu. I had made a reservation through AAA for a Hertz INTERMEDIATE vehicle for a daily rate of $55.59 which would come out to $272.56 with taxes and fees. At the counter, the representative mentioned a higher authorization amount as a deposit or incidentals, so the amount held was higher. I didn't think it was a problem. When I received the emailed receipt, I then noticed the charge came out to $687.26 coming in 2.5X higher than my reservation online. I called their billing department to check on the discrepancy. I had unknowingly been given a FULL SIZE vehicle instead of an Intermediate. I had no idea any upgrade had been made. The Altima we drove around seemed like an Intermediate for all we knew. (1) The clerk did not mention an upgrade (2) if you look on AAA Hertz, a Full Size was not $198.75/day! It is only $66/day, but I never wanted a Full Size at all. A couple in front of us was told the inventory was low and they were receiving a free upgrade (check their inventory that day and you will find this to be true). I didn't think this would apply to us, but in hindsight, we were apparently upgraded unknowingly. We never wanted a Full Size. Even if we did, AAA has Full Size for $66/day, NOT $198.75/day that I was charged. 3 issues here (1) I never asked for an upgrade, (2) the representative told us we are getting an Altima but NEVER stated this was an upgrade, (3) the AAA rate is NOT $198.75/day even if we wanted a Full Size. It has been 2 weeks now and they have not attempted to correct this. They said I signed for the high amount, which I absolutely did, but thinking this is including some kind of deposit for incidentals. I ask Hertz consider from a customers point of view. Paying way more than original reservation or advertised. Charged 250% more for an unnecessary upgrade costing $414 more.

I used the prepaid rate to rent a SUV for 2 weeks bc I was going to Mayo Clinic for 2 operations. After I had the first operation, they suggested I wait a couple of months to get the back surgery. We ended up coming home 5 days earlier. When I called them to ask if I was going to get refunded for the days I didn't use if I returned the vehicle early and they said "Absolutely"! When I brought the vehicle back the next morning and asked them again and they said ""Yes". When I checked my bank statement the next day, there was a refund of $200. The next day, the refund was revoked. When I tried to get my refund, all they did was quote a bunch of garbage from the find print in the rental. So, bottom line, don't believe anything they tell you verbally bc they will lie to you. AND DONT PREPAY IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A REFUND OF UNUSED PORTION OF YOUR ORIGINAL AGREEMENT. I'm done with Hertz.

Never rent from Hertz. I rented with them overseas. They charged me for damages which never occurred. In addition I have damage insurance with my credit card, as well as my auto insurance, so I waived the liability charge. However they charged me $ 140 to do that waiver! In addition, the car they gave me stalled all the time which was quite dangerous. Despite that they sent me a bill for all the hidden charges after I returned the car and I was back in the states, so had no recourse to complain to them about their lies.

Rented on 2/17/2022 because i was moving cross country. Told the gentlemen at the Vancouver store, who btw was very nice so no complaints again him, where i was moving to. Had to pick up my bf from the airport and add him on the car so we could both drive. when adding him on i was told i had to return the car back to Vancouver. how was i supposed to do that when i was driving all the way to Ohio? so i called and got a rep to change the drop off date, but had to charge me $10 for the change. wtf? whatever. I dropped it off on 2/23/22 the date i had to return it. Checked my credit card and they charged me double, because they didn't officially turn it in 3/5/22. Called AGAIN to have them fix it. they we're investigating my issue. noticed a refund on my card. not as much as what i expected, but whatever. Soon i was getting letters saying i owed the amount that was returned to me. It went to collections. I am fighting with them right now to fix this issue, it was their fault. not mine. because of this my credit is all screwed up. A rep told me they have no record of me calling in to change the drop off location. Well then get better reps to do their job. Yesterday I got a letter saying since i didn't pay the amount that I OWE they canceled and stopped everything with me. One i wasn't a member of this place and two i will get a lawyer if they can't fix this. I am NEVER NEVER renting from this place again. Only reason I had to, was the only thing in my area with a SUV i needed. I would give this place Zero stars if i could
