I have now had two times where I have come to Hertz after reserving my car and getting a confirmation email and then they told me the car wasnt actually available. This caused me to have to find a completely different car rental company at the last minute. This is illegal and they should be fined.

Hertz double charged me and they do not want to fix it. I have try to contact everyone that I can and everyone is pretty much telling me theres nothing they can do. How do you take money out someones account everytime they renewed the rental and then they return the car and you are gonna charge them again!! Do not get a rental from them!!!

I am frustrated with these people and don't understand how they still have willing customers.. I have a police matter resulting from a reported incident that apparently occurred way back in August 2024 and which I have just NOW been alerted to. I have tried to contact multiple departments, call centers, and third parties at Hertz. All useless for anything complicated. I received a California police issued traffic violation dated July of last year. The summons was for a Hertz car rental but had the wrong driver particulars. I needed to get more information from Hertz pertaining to this particular incident to communicate with the police, and to find out what is going on. Hertz's customer has been thus far, worthless. Their staff consists of a 3rd party call center overseas. Everything goes to the call center who provide robotic answers and no assistance to anything but billing errors. I have been referred to multiple emails, a third party US based company called ******* ********* (whose responsibility is to communicate with police departments and provide customer information based on Hertz's erroneous information), and a couple of telephone numbers. These go to The Philippines, of course. The staff that I spoke with was repetitively unhelpful and full of incorrect information. At one point, one of their representatives told me that the car was in an accident and asked if that was me!?!? (It was not. No idea what he was talking about). Hertz doesn't seem to care. The call centers can't help in situations like this. Nor can the US 3rd party ******* ********* who said that they can only communicate to the police the incorrect information that, Hertz, erroneously provided. They told me it was a Hertz issue, not theirs. I do need to communicate with the traffic police. I need a representative based in the US corporate office to call me and help me resolve this. NO MORE OVERSEAS CALL CENTERS.

The car I received worked for 2 hours then died. The only solution offered was to hop into a tow truck and drive 1.5 hours back to where rented, exchange my car for another, then drive myself back - this despite the fact that there were 3 Hertz locations within 20 minutes of me. They would not refund my money - claiming I chose to end the lease early - as though their car towed away was something I would willingly choose. I've had minor issues every time I've rented from them from the ********************** location - each time they said they would deposit the equivalent of 1 day's rental in points into my account - each time that didn't happen. This is the final straw - no more renting from here.

I rented a Nissan Rogue car on Tuesday in Denver at the airport and before I left the lot a light came on the dash that Forward Driving Aids temporarily disabled Front Camera Blocked. When I went to the exit gate I told them should I turn around and get another car. They said the camera was sensitive to rain and it was raining hard the last two days. The sensor is still malfunctioning and says see owners manual. I have tried to get in touch with any one at the Denver International Hertz but it is IMPOSSIBLE!!!!! I need some customer service assistance. The car still drives it has not affected that yet but it not a fully functional car. I called Roadside and spoke to the closest Hertz facility which was Longmont. I got in the car unaware that they wanted me to fill the gas tank until I got there. 45 minutes to find a gas station in traffic and go back to the facility which was 2 buildings away from Enterprise ( if you don't improve your customer service people will be going there). They gave me keys to a replacement and when we got in it smelled like fish. We had to go back in and pick a car from the lot all of which were cheaper than the one I had, but they could not credit my credit card the difference. I was told to do it when I turn in the car before my outgoing flight. SERIOUSLY!! Layoff should be coming soon for Hertz. You can not stay in business with this kind of service!

Rented a car from hertz at fort Meyers airport . As we were checking out at the gate I lit a cigarette. The young man being very rude and disrespectful told me I could not smoke in the rental . I put the cigarette out and the car was never smoked in . Was still charged a $450 fee for smoking in the car . The car was not smoked in . The cigarette was lit and put out . They refuse to refund the fee . Very poor customer service.

This company has acknowledged there was a data breach linked to the **** Hack in April of this year. However, I was notified by a message yesterday from a service I use that monitors my information out in the web that claimed the dark web had my information (phone number and email) and the issue was linked to Hertz. I called Hertz on their provided number about the **** Hack to check if my information was compromised. They checked and denied it ever was in the hack. If true, the conclusion I can make from this is Hertz has other security vulnerabilities they have yet to come forward about.Because of that, I wrote to Hertz Corporate and my state attorney general's office since Hertz may have a very unsecure system with sensitive customer information past this **** Hack. All have yet to respond.I want to warn all others here that if you suddenly get notifications on information that was compromised and going on the dark web (with it all pointing back to Hertz) and Hertz denies you were part of the **** Hack, then it's obvious there is a good chance there was another compromise that happened, if not just recently after the **** Hack. It's either that or the **** Hack information they got is very incomplete - which in my opinion, is very inexcusable to blow off the people (without notating their information in their system) who obviously had compromised information tied to them when Hertz can't find it.

I reserved a Toyota Corolla online. When I arrived at the store, I greeted the staff politely. a ******* ******** female front desk agent briefly asked a few questions, then told me they didn’t have any cars available at the moment and asked me to wait. I told her I didn’t mind what kind of car it was — I’d take any available vehicle. After waiting for about 30 minutes, she said there was a Camry available, but at a higher price. I declined the upsell. After that, she ignored me, and I had no choice but to leave. I made a reservation — you had no cars ready for your customers. The least you could do is offer any available vehicle. You’re a large company, yet you continue advertising low prices online for cars you don’t actually provide, only to upsell customers later. That’s misleading and unfair. I’m seriously considering filing a complaint with the BBB. This was a terrible experience. Who’s going to cover my wasted time and rideshare cost?
