  The State of Michigan suggested I go through VitalChek to obtain a birth certificate with ********* from Austria (I currently live in Austria and am unable to get to Michigan right now - and Michigan would not directly get me a copy of my birth certificate with an ********* in one step. I ordered the document with expedited overseas shipping ($27 just for shipping) on April 23rd. They said it would be processed in 1-5 days…. I’ve not heard from them since. I’ve emailed 2x asking for status. I’ve been on hold now waiting for service for 1 hour and 25 minutes. I will next file a complaint with my credit card company for a refund.

  Ordered a Death Certificate of my mother, paid, and only AFTER was told that I also needed a copy of my birth certificate in order process the order, which I didn't have handy. They wanted another processing fee plus the regular fee for the birth certificate. At that point I asked for my money back, which they refused. So my order went into an "On Hold" status while I looked for my birth certificate. Now, a couple months later, I found my birth certificate and tried to re-engage the process, only to find my order had been cancelled. I have now been waiting on their customer service line for well over an hour with no sign of progress. Absolutely horrible experience, which apparently isn't over yet.

  This is such a scam. I ordered my marriage license, paid 27 dollars waited 2 months and got nothing. I started emailing them because no one answers their phone. No email back. 2 months 1 week later it said it was shipped, mind you still no answer from my emails. Now 6 months later never got anything. Had to re order directly from the state. And finally got an email back saying it’s been shipped. You got to be kidding me!!! Never again. They need to reimburse me.

  VitalChek? Stay far, far away from this wretched “service.” I applied for my birth certificate through VitalChek February 2nd, 2025. I’ve placed at least a dozen phone calls to VitalChek, spoken with numerous “clerks” at VitalChek, receiving different excuses every time, depending on who answers the phone after lengthy wait times on hold. Emailed several times, with no help. Today is May 22, 2025 and I have still not received my document. Rating from one to ten? VitalChek gets a negative 1. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE experience.

  I ordered a death certificate from this company and less than 2 months later had my identity stolen. I'm in my late 40's and have safeguarded my identity my entire adult life. VitalChek was the only third-party company I shared my identity information with (birth certificate, SS Card, and driver's license). I shared this information under duress because my mother had just passed away and we need urgently needed a copy of her death certificate. I'm 100% certain VitalChek was the source of my identity being stolen. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.

  They are a complete fraud! Stole my money and DID NOT GET MY BIRTH CERTIFICATES!! YOU CANNOT GET ANYONE ON THE PHONE! EMAILED CUSTOMER SERVICE TWICE WITH NO RESPONSES!!

  Absolutely the worse. I spent $50 ordering a birth certificate. They say on the website it takes 2-3 days to process and then it is shipped out *** Air. Well after almost 2 weeks they were still "processing". The only way you can reach them is by email and other than sending out an automated message acknowledging receipt of your email, NOTHING, i mean absolutely nothing happens. I've sent several emails. I don't think they really have a customer service department. I intend to call my county records office, who engaged these yahoos, and pitch a fit. Maybe if others do the same government offices will stop using their worthless service.

  If this could give .0000004 of a star. I am sorry I didn't check the reviews of this company before paying. Poor, Poor, Poor, Poor...customer service, long response times. I provided an identification but they said it wasn't legit due to illegible signature. I got my birth certificate faster by going to the State office.
