In short, Skillshare doesn't care about people, they don't care about artists, or students- they only care about money. Considering that most of their classes are nothing better than what you could find on ******* for free, I'm assuming they make a majority of their money through their borderline scam of a free trial. The refund policy they employ is clearly only the way it is so they can push a month long trial, and then take your money when the average person inevitably forgets or has something happen that makes them incapable of canceling on time. When attempting to contact them, I was only met with what was clearly a bot functioning on a script. They had the audacity to pretend to offer a 50% refund as "an extension of goodwill." even though this is something they offer to anyone who bugs them. They very clearly weren't reading any of my emails that explained I had been in an emergency that left me PHYSICALLY INCAPABLE of receiving their email or canceling on my own. Now, after this emergency, I have had $168 taken from me for a service that I do not want and isn't worth it, and they are ignoring my emails, I assume because the bot ran out of scripts. Don't use skillshare, take in person classes or use ******* for free. It isn't worth your time and money and, based on what everyone else is saying, they'll just end up scamming you in the longrun.

Tried to ask for $167.88 refund as I had forgotten to cancel my subscription and did not see the reminder email under the many emails it was buried under already (email was not highlighted unlike the email about the confirmation of subscription charge). Was denied refund .. I have not used Skillshare since I wasn't able to find what I wanted to use educational wise.

I was a teacher at Skillshare for a year. Very early on, I was made to believe that my classes were the second best thing after ice-cream, and that i was on my way to be advertised wide and far. I followed all their instructions to a T. I spent 4 months on each one-hour video to get them to fit their standards. My mentor applauded, praised, flattered, even made promises of success. In the end, I had to create my own content AND do my own advertising on line. Lots of meeting, no help what so ever. I spent more time advertising than creating. Bottom line, the max money I made was $50/ month at the beginning, which quickly dwindle down to $15/month. When I suggested that my content may not be a good fit for Skillshare audience, I was encourage to keep trying. My second class was applauded by my mentor again, but totally flopped with the audience. They still wanted me to keep trying. I had worked for three months, 10 hours a day on my second class. I was exhausted and not the richer. A few weeks ago I quit. Skillshare is a trap for teachers. They will take your time, your creativity, and rip the joy out of creating. I would never recommend a creative to trust them with content or time or labor.

Over $100 was taken out of my bank. I emailed the company and got a email from an AI bot, ****. They told me they couldn't grant me a refund after ten days. I asked multiple times and was denied each time! That was a big chunk of money being taken out that I could have used for bills or other things, not some service I won't use!

I have nothing against the courses that Skillshare offers, however, I signed up in February of 2024, watched a few videos and just lost track of time and forgot about my skillshare account. Fast-forward a year and the account auto-renews. I message them about the issue and requested a refund as I didn't plan to use Skillshare anymore and hadn't logged in in over a year. Got the runaround about their refund policy which is a total joke. Any other subscription based company I've let my subscription renew without remembering has been more than happy to refund and close my account. They're in it for the $$, not the customer. What a joke. I don't care if they have a course I absolutely need, I won't sign up again.

Did not allow me to cancel on the last day of my subscription. I contacted customer support and they immediately told me that I couldn't receive a refund for anything over a 7 day trial. They fraudulently charged my account a day early and refused me a refund. At what point can we file a class action? Clearly this company is set up as a scam.

I signed up for a free trial of SkillShare after seeing a ******* Channel that I frequently watch advertise it. There was an interesting course that I thought I would have time to give a try. I was incorrect, and due to a variety of personal circumstances the trial went unused. Afterward, I mistook which day I needed to cancel by and attempted to cancel the morning AFTER I was charged for the FULL YEAR *************** big deal, right? Normally if something like this happens, you're able to contact support, let them know the mistake, and make things right. The account hasn't been used, so there should be no problem. At least that's what I thought until my refund request was immediately denied by what seemed to be a chatbot, followed by my dispute being shut down immediately as well.I asked to speak to a human and finally spoke to someone via email a few days later. Then, I was offered 50% of the cost of the year ($90) and my subscription would stay active. I communicated that I would still not use the service at all and would heavily favor a full refund due to my financial circmstances. I was told that is all they would do and begrudgingly accepted.Arbitrarily, SkillShare has decided that if you do any trial over 7 days, they will not give you a refund. They give no reason for this and their customer service is robotic and largely unhelpful.

I was charged $167.88 for a plan when I had canceled it. I was then charged days after the initial trial ended which was canceled because of my low funds (on ******) and that I can not afford it. Then not even a day later I was charged directly from my bank. I emailed them IMMEDIATELY and got a response but was put on hold (the case was being "pushed up"). I emailed them again and was told it was past the 7 days of the charge. I went ahead and researched more about Skillshare and found that its evident that many customers, including myself, feel blindsided by the auto-renewal process and when contacting their customer service. I would never recommend **********************.

they totally ripped me off by charging me for a full year after I signed up for a free trial. This is an unscrupulous business practice and shame on them for doing this. Don't sign up for the free trial. It's a total ripoff.
