I reached out to H&R Block by following a review and someone contacted me in the review and told me that someone will be calling me but instead I get an email telling me to call you all. H&R Block have cheated me out of my referral fees. I have several people I referred this year in a Few that I referred last tax season. And they never answered my ticket that was put in last year for my referral fees. I never received and I have not received any referral fees this year so with that I’m going to seek legal actions against H&R Block because they are falsely advertising and they are still in our referral fees and next year and going forward I will not be filing with H&R Block nor any body that I know file with H&R Block, my name is Brielle Gillis and I refuse to call them when they owe me money. They can call me.

I made an appointment for 11:30 and I was told I would have to wait until all the people in here before were finished. I just walked here with my toddler and I was told she would see me but my taxes wouldn’t be filed. This is the closest place in walking distance. I’m am frustrated.

My (pregnant) fiance and I each got overcharged when we got our taxes done by H&R block. Pricing was not transparent or "upfront". I have tried to reach out to them to resolve this issue because charging over $700 for simple w-2 taxes feels like fraud to me, but I haven't even gotten a response. They lost 2 longtime customers this week and I hope no one else gets treated this way.

Absolutely terrible, was forced into paying for a higher service to file my taxes, instead of the free service I had selected, the paid for service did not help me at all, even though it was supposed to connect me to a tax expert, to answer questions and what not

I was quoted $610 for tax preparation at H&R Block, including their “Peace of Mind” guarantee. The return was marked ready to file on March 21. Upon review, I found two serious errors the preparer missed: A $6,000+ underreported tax liability A $12,700 missed deduction for real estate referral fees These were not due to missing documents—I provided a full expense spreadsheet. I personally identified and corrected the issues, not the preparer. I also left multiple voicemails for the local manager with no response for several days. When I finally spoke with her, the tone was defensive and unprofessional, and no apology was offered. After escalating to corporate, I was offered only $100 off—no meaningful acknowledgment of the oversight, stress, or time involved. This lack of character by their local leadership, lack of ability to fulfill their "website promises" is embarrassing. Offering $100 off after I proactively saved them from an underpayment audit due to their error where they'd have been liable for penalty and interest fees is laughable. This place is a joke - do not EVER recommend anyone to trust them.

HR Block Irvin C*** Dr. Paducah,Ky We filed our taxes Jan. 27 th. We got a letter from IRS they needed 1099 form. Went to this office Feb. 14th. and form was faxed. Went back two weeks later to ask questions about refund. They could not tell me anything. In fact manager just said it could take 6 mths. We take out taxes from our Social Security voluntary. And we have used HR Block since the 70s. Anytime we had a problem we always got answers. Not from this office. We had to call IRS ourself. It is now April 7 and no return, the IRS gave us a date of April 14th. We feel we deserve our fee back. They screwed up and deny they did anything wrong. We have always had to send a 1099 and they blamed the home office that they did not send them anymore. They told us we were responsible. If we are responsible then why are we paying them!!!

Very disrespectful and not educated in tax filing. I felt I was in the wrong whenever I asked for an explanation. They calculated my tax penalties so wrong they were off by more than 1000 dollars when I asked for them to pay that amount... it says in their website any mistakes they will pay in full the difference... they told me ,I am sorry they were calculated incorrectly... never more

I helped a family member file their taxes online using your H&R Block FREE online filing. The family member only had $12,000 in income. They did not owe ANY taxes and this should have been a FREE filing (just as it is advertised). One page asked the question if there was any sales taxes paid during the year. I tapped it and it automatically said she had paid $665 in sales taxes. That one question then caused her (in her extremely limited income situation to have to pay $70 plus tax) to file her income taxes. NOT OKAY!! A real scam here. That should have allowed her to remove that from her taxes. It shouldn't have even asked that question then. She is basically destitute and you charged her when you ADVERTISE that she can file for FREE. SCAM SCAM SCAM!! Never again!!

My son is new to the workforce having graduated recently. He went to H&R block in Southaven, MS to do his first taxes. Their website shows an average of $99 for filing taxes. Their website guarantees that there will be no surprises and give you the price up front. When he called me later, they had charged him over $600 for a simple 1099 filing, with a couple hundred bucks in crypto.... I hit the roof to see them having done this... they knew they had a new young person... if they had been up front he said he would have walked out and just did it for free... but they waited until the work was done (about 30 minutes) then hit him with that price. We've filed a complaint with the IRS but do NOT go to this place - seems predatory to me, then they refused to make this right when we gave them a chance to resolve the issue.

I made an appointment to do my taxes in person since I had never dealt with a 1099 before. I was a 1099 contract employee for five months—that’s it. I had already calculated all my deductions before going in. When I arrived, Jaime K**** told me I had to manually add up my rent, WiFi, and utilities write-offs from my spreadsheet because she "doesn’t do bookkeeping." While I was doing this, she sat there eating a candy bar and chatting with her coworker, showing them all the chocolate in her purse. Once I finished, she simply entered the numbers into their respective boxes and charged me $565. For that price, you’d think she could have done a little bookkeeping. Instead, I did all the work while she typed it in and asked me questions that were already answered in my deduction spreadsheet. On top of that, she had to Google a question about depreciation—something a CPA should already know. I expected to be charged a maximum of $200 since I did most of the work myself. $565 made me want to cry—especially as a 23-year-old who only made $17,000 last year. And, of course, the total just so happened to be a little more than my federal return, meaning I had to pay out of pocket. Convenient, right? Afterward, I called another H&R Block location, and they explained that fees start at $150 and that the associate is supposed to tell me the cost before starting. That did not happen. I wasn’t told the price until the VERY END. I was taken advantage of—plain and simple.
