On December 21, 2024 we had major flooding at our house. I called Horizon after the water was pumped out and dried to replace a sump pump, water heater, and condensate pump for about $4800. In that cost was a yearly contract for service. On January 9, 2024 the power went out and I called Horizon Emergency Services at 9:30 pm. By that time, I had been bailing water since 7:30 pm. They told me the emergency technician wouldn't be out to 10 pm to 12 am. At this point I could have gone to Lowes and bought a battery backup, but I wanted Horizon to look at the new sump pump and have them install the battery back-up. After bailing for an additional 1 and a half hours, Horizon's emergency technician arrives and assesses the situation. The new sump pump that was installed 2 and a half weeks ago was bad! Also, he didn't have a battery sump pump on the truck despite there being a major storm in process. At this point, Lowes was closed. He said they have them in the warehouse; however, his key fob does not open the warehouse and he can't get one to install. I suggested he contact a manager to open the warehouse. He told me that all of the managers were asleep and, if I had called at 9 pm, he would have been able to get a back-up sump pump (I called at 9:30 pm). So with all of the managers asleep during a major storm and a emergency tech that couldn't access the warehouse during an emergency, I was told my only solution was to continue bailing, call Delmarva and yell at them and despite him wanting to install the sump pump because he "wanted the money", he could not help. That is Horizon's customer service for a contracted customer who less then 3 weeks ago paid them close to $5000 and had a broken sump pump within those 3 weeks in an emergency situation: a team of sleeping managers and a emergency tech that is useless in an actual emergency. Because, as the tech said, we "can't keep everything on the truck."

Received email for $59 heater tune up. Scheduled in October. Company changed date to Nov 8. On the day of service, I get a call confirming my appointment and then told the price is $289 because the add doesn’t include oil furnaces. NO WHERE on that email does it exclude oil furnaces.

Schedule for heater service on 10/21/23 between 4-8 PM Dispatch called at 2:45 PM and stated they would have to reschedule. Rescheduled for 10/22/23 between 8-12 AM. Someone called at 7:43 to say they would have to reschedule because I was only getting heating system serviced. I scheduled this service a while ago and paid for service in the spring when AC was serviced. I have asked to speak to management both times and none are available. I still don’t understand how a company can have a A+ plus rating with poor customer service. Always trying to upsell and products you don’t need but fail to provide good customer service.

They will exaggerate and outright lie to you in order to upsell you on the most expensive option for whatever issue you are having. Very sleazy company. Absolute scumbags. Do not use under any circumstances.

Recently had my Generac generator serviced by Horizon which had purchased the electric company who installed and maintained my generator under a maintenance agreement. My agreement calls for a semi-annual service. During this service, the Horizon tech. told my wife the battery was bad and needed a new $395.00 battery. My wife called me, put me on speaker as I told him to put my existing battery back in the unit and leave my property. My battery was two years and four months old with a cold weather kit. Needless to say, that’s the last time Horizon will be on my property. BTW, the alleged bad battery started my generator last week during it’s normal weekly exercise.

12 years ago First Class Heating and Cooling installed a 17 SEER system in my home. First Class was purchased by Horizon and I continued my maintenance contract with them. Horizon performed the spring maintenance last week and told me that I needed a new a/c unit. I contacted Service Today for a second opinion. The photos Service Today took and showed me literally made me sick. The a/c system was completely corroded due to Horizon’s failure to clean the system during routine maintenance. Horizon also failed to tell me that I would need an entirely new system because a new a/c system alone would not be able to communicate with the existing heat pump. I would strongly caution anyone with a Horizon maintenance contract to demand that the system be thoroughly cleaned during maintenance. I have chosen another company to install an entire new system at a great cost. And I would strongly suggest anyone needing a new HVAC system choose other than Horizon

Overview There was a very small leak in the main line just before the water valve in the basement. I scheduled with Horizon Services to come in Monday morning between 8am and 12pm time slot. I tend to sleep later, my wife gets up earlier, so I asked her to let in the plumber in the morning and just point him to the leak. The area was prepped and clean, ready for him. My wife woke me around 8:30am. The plumber had come right at eight, already quoted $2,600 for the PRV assembly, and had another quote written up for $1,500 to fix the water heater. He had already left to pick up the parts from the local distributor. When the plumber returned, I met him at the door, offered him coffee and water and the use of the bathroom. He then walked me through his findings. Fortunately for you and for me, I am an active mechanical engineer, do heavy duty activity costing for technical and infrastructure, and also do product pricing. I’ve done my own plumbing work for thirty years, do most of my car work, totally hands on. In fact, I had actually installed the existing thermal expansion tank. 1) The Pressure Reducing Valve was bad. He knew that because he had done a pressure test curbside (yet he does not carry spare PRVs on his truck). Coincidently, the water leak was in the same general area, so all part of the same subassembly. 2) The water heater gas vent was angled over, letting out gasses. It was also touching against the cold water line. 3) The thermal expansion tank was bad. He had pressed the valve, water came out. 1) Quoting $917 for a two inch section of Pex, which was not even required to fix 2) Quoting $589 to replace an expansion tank (required by code), a fifteen minute job 3) Charging over $2,500 for one hour of real labor. 4) Multiplying product prices by factor of five (PRV) The plumber must have been ecstatic. Make $4,000 for less than an hour’s real work. And Home Office likes this and approves, otherwise this would not have happened.
