    I rented a car from Getaround, and received a car that had been recalled with the issue never being resolved. The issue, which was related to easy theft of the car, resulted in the car BEING STOLEN almost immediately after I first retrieved and parked the car. Not only did I not get to use the car for the duration of the rental, when I informed Getaround they told me that I WAS RESPONSIBLE TO RETRIEVE THE CAR FROM THE THIEVES (they have tracking and disabling devices on their vehicles), and then THEY CHARED ME FOR THE RENTAL, A CLAIMS FEE OF $100, AND AN REPAIR FEE OF $500!!! Ive never received worse service. They have hung up on me and ignored emails and messages sent through the app, proceeding to charge me without my permission. If a car is recalled for any safety reason (imagine if it had been the brakes and I had been in an accident as a result of the disregarded recall!), it should not be rented to unsuspecting customers. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!

    Worst experience ever. I rented a car for a week. I extend my trip an extra day due to my flight being canceled. (ive had some trouble with the car turning it on but didnt think to much of it). When i extended it i didnt realize i stopped/parked somewhere i shouldnt have. When i went to move the car the car did not turn on. The car almost got towed as well as getting stopped by an officer. I explained the situation they were somewhat understanding. I called roadside assistance and they immediately ended my reservation. (mind you i just paid an extra 230$ ti extend for an extra day. They didn't have an *** for the roadside assistance and advice me to leave the keys in the car and leave. (this happens at 12a) When i inquired about a refund due to this they claim there was a crime committed with the car and that I wouldnt get my refund back. I disputed with my bank and got my money back. I discontinued my service and delete my account. Next thing you know 3 weeks later they are charging me $300. not sure for what. I have inquired about it. Sent emails no response. I cant call because i dont have an "active rental". All you get is a machine. You might as well walk for your entire vacation then renting from them. (mind you we traveling in ny and visited **) i would rather walk in the worst neighborhood there is then rent from this company. Idek why they are still in business!!!!

    Im not able to get in contact with no one in position of power, such as management or CEO to resolve an issue I have with one owner or getaround themselves cutting the car off early then I paid more money before the owner came to get it to actually extend the car which was ***** just to get in the car and it not start because they didnt turn the engine back on I then contacted them even sent pictures of the vehicle saying car is not ready they have not returned my money on top of the owner telling them to charge me for reparations and some more things that was out of my control I was able to return the car simply because the shut the engine off so why should I then pay anything after not even returning my ***** for a car that I couldnt even use

    These guys advertise pricing and then don't use that pricing. They track the vehicles and will cut your reservation off early saying there is another rental. Forcedbme to pay their gas fees even when it was gairanteed returned at the same level I picked it up in. Cars are dirty and smell and customer service doesn't do anything but ignore you and just charge you any fees they cam tack on. I rented a car it said $43 a day or $2 an hour. At total I paid $230 for 37.5 hours and 2 weeks later they haven't returned the security deposit. I tried to be reasonable but the guy on the phone literally said a robot makes the price. My emails seem as though it's being responded to with automated responses. I would recommend walking with a broken leg before renting with them. Cars also have trackers on them so watch out if ypu go over the miles and try and extend the rental. I was 50 miles away when I hit ************************************************************************************ 4 hours. So they forced me to drive it back at 6am paying per mile to return it on time. I went back after the next rental was supposed to have happened it was still there then again 3 hours after that time too and nobody picked up the car and it was listed for rent. Surpisel surprise.

    I was a host on Getaround Platform and hosted a total of 4 cars.The onboarding launch process was straightforward and seamless. However, its upon initiating the hosting that the issues truly begin to surface.The main issue is that they are way to lenient when it comes to identifying renters who rent out vehicles. They have a security issue with screening their renters. There is no additional information of who is actually picking up the car. Such as 2nd round of pictures or selfies while present with the vehicle. Fake ID's, fake credit cards are not screened. Within the the initial year of hosting, 1 vehicle got stolen and was not returned. I immediately removed all my remaining vehicles from the platform. After many multiple calls, emails to Getaround, insurance, plus police station visits, police reports, headaches, and 2 months later the vehicle was deemed unrecoverable and they paid out the vehicle based on comparison price.The idea of renting a car at the last minute when needed is quite impressive. However, we unfortunately live in a world where a few individuals can spoil the experience for everyone else. Getaround needs first and foremost protect their host and their assets. Without host and vehicles there really is not point to this platform. So, I say this it is not worth the stress, time, sacrificed assets to use this platform.

    Getaround permitted a renter to gain access to my vehicle who blew the engine out and destroyed the interior. They towed suv from the customer inoperable and have yet to update me about a resolution to a claim filed in January. They assigned me a claim manager who ignores me and since the new year theyve eliminated host contact via phone.

    As an owner, my car was left with 1/4 tank of gas, dirty, smelling of smoke (all things that should be able to be reimbursed) - and after requesting reimbursement, support told me this was all as intended and I was out of luck. I lost money on my last rental, and about a month in, have ultimately made a total of maybe $40 (though you do pay for Getaround connect - so still in the hole technically).. Id love for this to be remedied because I would ************ out my car, but have little faith in Getarounds staff. From start to present, sketchy experience. I am curious if they would even reimburse me if my car was in an accident.

    Surprise Fees and Unreliable Cars. Sometimes the battery is dead or the owner cancels last minute. Also they charge a lot of extra fees. $35 if there is no available street parking within .25 miles of the address (which is very common in a big city) - they approved my parking 1-2 blocks away and then charged the fee and won't refund it. They also charge for gas discrepancies based on Getaround measurements even if the dashboard fuel gage matches the fuel level you started with. I did not have a good experience and would not recommend.

    Our rented Getaround vehicle was struck by another car and the resolution process has made it clear that Getaround is a fraudulent, negligent business. Here is a snapshot of the many issues we've encountered with this business:- *********** arrived to the scene for the accident (the other car fled), the officer informed us the Getaround vehicle's plates were suspended, putting us, the drivers, at risk for a ticket - Getaround refused to refund the price of the rental or acknowledge its role in renting an ILLEGAL vehicle to us - Getaround has been unwilling to work through our auto insurance - Getaround has been unwilling to provide information about their insurance, including contact information, claim status or verification that their provider is working with our insurance - Getaround charged us $807 for damages to the vehicle without providing details of damage (only provided when asked)- After our claim was marked closed (never informed of this) they charged us an additional $192 for damages but refused to share details about what that damage entailed - Getaround only provides critical information when asked, including revealing policies that are not detailed in customer agreements (such as the fact that an owner has 30 additional days after initial payment to file damages)- Getaround told us their insurance company would reach out within 5 days and we have yet to be contacted - No single point of communication within website - No ability to resolve this issue over the phone/talk to anyone We are still waiting on refunds over $1,000the cost of damages that we are not liable for. It's not surprising to read these other reviews and see the issues detailed. It's clear Getaround does not know how to operate a rental car company and does not value its customers.

    Rented a car for the first time yesterday. Had the worst experience with their customer support and the car itself. I will never go back and I am still waiting for my refund.
