Recently applied for a home loan and they sold my information to other mortgage companies so they could call and harass me. For an agency that is supposed to protect our identity seems to be doing the opposite.Experian Consumer Services

Your concerns are very important to us. It is important to note that Experian does not place or direct solicitation phone calls to consumers, nor do we grant or deny credit. Each credit grantor makes such decisions based on its own guidelines. Consumer credit reporting agencies only store information from credit grantors and information contained in public records and supply this information to other creditors. All national consumer credit reporting agencies provide names and addresses to companies that send offers of credit or insurance for which you may ********** have your name removed from the prescreened lists of the national consumer credit reporting agencies, call 1-888-5OPTOUT ***************). Consumers who have previously exercised their right to opt-out may have their names re-added to prescreen lists upon request by calling 1-888-5OPTOUT ***************) and selecting the option for opting in.Some marketers and individual reference services share names and addresses with companies that send catalogs or other mailings that may interest you or help others locate you.If you would like to remove your name from future lists, then send your full name and address to:Direct ********************* Mail Preference Service *************************** Experian ATTN: Consumer Services Department **************************** For additional assistance, you may call the toll-free telephone number provided on your personal credit report obtained directly from Experian, or write to Experian at ****************************. Some time ago, I was notified of a "data breach" that included my personal information. Data breaches are a growing threat in a world where nearly every part of our lives is connected to the internet. None of us chooses the big three credit bureaus. But if you ever want to buy a car, a house, apply for credit of any kind, you are subject to what these credit bureaus have gathered about your personal credit history. Even if you don't need credit, you can't even open a bank account without their blessing. It stands to reason that these companies that hold such tremendous power, even control over our daily lives, ought to be held to a higher ******* when conducting business and protecting all of our sensitive personal information. A while back I received notice that MY personal information was part of a data breach and Experian offered me "free" credit monitoring for a time as a consolation prize for their inability to perform their most basic responsibility. Frankly, it was their s**** up, a company I didn't have any choice in using. They should have offered me free credit monitoring for life. Out of the blue recently, I noticed a charge on my credit card for my monthly Experion subscription which I never agreed to nor wanted. I disputed the charge and it was reversed but the next month... voila! Another monthly subscription. I finally received several emails telling me my subscription was cancelled AND my credit was "unlocked." No mention whatsoever about the option to "freeze" my credit, just this ominous notice that my credit was not unlocked... with an invitation to renew my subscription of course. What a s****y way to do business... bully, threaten and mislead. SHAME ON YOU EXPERIAN!!! I wish I had the power to sever my connection to such a company who can't perform their most fundamental responsibility, protect everyone's private sensitive information, then try to capitalize on it by charging you for their sub standard so called service. Grade F!Experian Consumer Services

Thank you for expressing your concerns regarding Experian(R) CreditWorksSM. Per your request, your paid benefits did cease, effective March 8, 2025. You will continue to have access to your Experian(R) credit report and FICO(R) Score once every 30 days, at no charge to you. Our website describes the offer, and the order form details the terms and conditions of the offer, including billing at the end of the trial and monthly thereafter unless and until the customer notifies us of their wish to discontinue. The consumer agrees to these terms when submitting their order. We have, as a courtesy, issued an additional refund totaling $24.99 on April 8, 2025. Please allow 3 - 5 business days for these funds to process to the credit card account. We appreciate the time you took to send us your comments and suggestions. We value the input from our customers and assure you we will give serious consideration to the issues you presented to us. It is through information provided by customers as you that we are able to improve our products and memberships. We hope the above information is helpful to you in considering this matter.Review fromBaron M

Thank you for expressing your concerns regarding Experian(R) CreditWorksSM. Credit bureaus maintain separate records of consumers information. To dispute possible inaccuracies on their credit file consumers must direct their requests to each individual credit bureau. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), you have the right to dispute the completeness and accuracy of the information in your credit file.Listed below is the dispute contact information for the three national credit bureaus Experian(R):Online: ************************************************: ***************************** Telephone: ************ Equifax(R):Online: ******************************************************************************************************************************************* via U.S. postal mail:*********** P.O. **************************** Telephone: ************ TransUnion(R):Online: ******************************************************************************** Disputes via U.S. postal mail:TransUnion Consumer Solutions P.O. ******************** ********** Telephone: ************ When you contact the appropriate credit bureau to dispute information on your credit report, be prepared to state the facts and explain why you are disputing the information, be able to supply the relevant account numbers and copies of any supporting documentation and request the deletion or correction of the information you feel is inaccurate. The **** mandates that the credit bureau with which you placed the dispute must respond to your dispute by contacting the source of the information and initiating an investigation. The credit bureau will ask the company or creditor (where possible) to check their records to verify the disputed information. Within 30 days, the company or creditor must respond to the credit bureaus investigation. The creditor or company may verify the account item as accurate, or they may ask the credit bureau to update or correct the item. Upon conclusion, the credit bureau will contact you with the results of the investigation.Review fromJody W

You're a private company trying to make money - I get it. But the way you bury the freeze/unfreeze page while making your sign-in page ask for payment is beyond predatory. You should be ashamed of yourselves. You COULD be straightforward, explaining the difference between what is free (freeze/unfreeze) and what is not (lock/unlock) to earn the public trust. Instead, you purposefully mislead - everything that is wrong with the world. For free, I've begun offering free online sessions where I walk people through freezing their credit at all three agencies. I do yours after Equifax and ********** because of how awful it is. I go further, helping people who have been tricked into paying cancel their subscriptions with you.Experian Consumer Services

Customer ********************** is horrible. Wait times take like 1 hour before speaking to someone. And when I did speak to someone she seemed so quick to NOT help. She told me that it would be easier to contact the creditor directly. She said that creditors are allowed to check your credit without permission which is entirely false. I did not authorize and did not consent to having my credit pulled. If you dont want us to call for hard inquiry disputes, then just let us do it online per their website, the only way to dispute hard inquiries is to call.Experian Consumer Services

I wish I could give them zero stars!!! I very happy with Experian! They are so unprofessional. I am a victim of identity theft. Several fraudulent accounts were opened using my personal information. I have tried to dispute these inaccuracies with them numerous times to no avail. I have sent the disputes by certified mail and I have spoken with a live representative. I have submitted proof that I was apart of the data breaches with Equifax and ********. I received a settlement from *******! The creditors have even investigated & resolved the identity theft. I have filed complaints against Experian with the *** and CFPB. They need to be shut down. They arent even doing the disputes. I just submitted another dispute online yesterday and I got a email within 3 minutes stating that the dispute was completed!!! I am going to sue!Experian Consumer Services

Experian has been helpful into moving our Credit to Excellent-approx 150 pt swing. However. They have moved credit almost 150pt+. So why the complaint. Thank you for writing and expressing your concern regarding your Experian(R) membership. As part of a paid Experian membership, Experian CreditLock allows you to easily and instantly control access to your Experian credit report in real-time with one click without having to remember your PIN or state-specific regulations associated with a traditional security freeze. Locking your report adds additional security to your credit information and will remain in place until you Unlock your report. When you lock your report, you will receive an alert notification when we detect activity on your locked report, such as attempted inquiries to open new lines of credit. In contrast, a security freeze on your credit report prohibits us from releasing any information in your credit reports without your express authorization. A security freeze is designed to prevent credit, loans, and services from being approved in your name without your consent; however, using a security freeze may delay, interfere with, or prohibit the timely approval of any subsequent requests or applications regarding a new loan, credit, mortgage, insurance, government services or payments, rental housing, employment, investment, license, cellular phone, utilities, digital signature, Internet credit card transaction, or other services, including an extension of credit at point of sale. There is no fee for placing or removing a security freeze on a credit report. You can manage your freeze and CreditLock within your Experian membership by calling us at ************, or overnight mail to Experian, 701 Experian ************************. We appreciate the time you took to send us feedback regarding our website. We value the input from our customers, and assure you that we will seriously consider the issues you presented to us.
