Wish there was an option for NEGATIVE stars! I contacted FH Furr to inspect my home air conditioning unit that was having cooling issues. A technician came out and diagnosed the problem, the air handler coil was faulty therefore the unit was no longer cooling. The technician began to draw up a quote that came up to $4,886.50. This cost did NOT include freon in which they quoted a ridiculous cost of $250.00 per pound and it would take six pounds totaling $1,500.00. I immediately thought that this was an exaggerated cost, but at that time my hands were tied, and I wanted the issue resolved immediately. The technician then called a manager at FH Furr, who stated that Carrier parts were on back order with no ETA and that it could take weeks, months or even longer for the part to arrive. The only other option they gave me was to have a non-Carrier air coil installed which would require them to replace the entire outside A/C unit that was less than eight years old. Again, my hands were tied, and I believed the technician and the manger when they told me the parts were on back order. FH Furr then sent out a second technician that provided a quote for $8,300.00 for an American Standard unit. At that point I began to search for alternative options by contacting smaller local A/C companies. They immediately told me the parts were available and they could have the Carrier air coil in less than two days and the total cost for parts and labor would be $2,800.00. The small business only charged $100.00 per pound for freon I only needed 1 pound and got my A/C running on the spot. As a retired veteran that served my country for more than 22 years I am appalled and disgraced for FH Furr even mentioning anything that speaks to servicing active or retired service members! After reading numerous reviews it's obvious FH Furr is a money gauging company that has zero respect for veterans or any other customer! I would advise not to utilize this company for anything! I had water leak in my kitchen sink and turned water off under sink. Called FH Furr to come to inspect. The guy found the problem and fixed the problem as professional matter. The guy offerred high cost and I accepted it. After thinking about the parts vs labor, I realized that it costs me at least $550 labor in less than an hour. That is ridiculous high for the labor cost. The worker did excellent job quickly. It s just cost issue here.

Mr. A***, I am sorry that you were not satisfied with our pricing. Our prices are set based on a national average of companies that perform similar work. We establish a flat-rate price book for our technicians, so no matter whomever we serve, the prices are always the same. Our workmanship guarantees and quality service are among the best available. I wish that you felt that the value of the service you received was beyond what you can itemize in an invoice. I am glad that you received good service from our technician and you were pleased with his work. I do hope that if you should ever need our services again, you will reconsider using us. FH Furr is out for every penny it can get. Following a “free” home inspection, I signed up on the spot to have my electrical panel replaced. I didn’t question the $393.55 I had to pay upfront since this is a well known company. Later that day, I was shocked to discover how inflated their total charge was compared to that of other companies. Although my decision to hire a different master electrician (for $4000 less) was made within three days of the inspection, I was only refunded $150. They were reimbursed for the permit by LDS, so, ultimately, they made a profit of $243.55 for doing nothing. How fair is this?

Ms. G****, we are sorry that we were unable to address the back-up in your plumbing. The $83 drain clearing promotion has terms and conditions. Due to the situation with your septic tank, we are unable to honor this promotion. We appreciate the you giving us the opportunity to serve you and are sorry about these circumstances. We hope that we may be able to provide you service in the future. Greg B******, Client Relations Manager.

Ms. Carter, I am sorry that you opted to use a different service provider. With regard to the permit fee, you were refunded the amount of the permit, which we recovered. The remaining amount was attributed to administrative fees associated with acquiring the permit. Had the estimate for the panel replacement been left open, allowing you the opportunity to shop around for other estimates, no fees would have been assessed. We appreciate you giving us the opportunity to serve you and hopefully there may be a chance at another time.

Inept and dishonest. Called for an emergency drain blockage. First guy arrived with equipment that wouldn’t work. 2 days later, second guy tells me he thinks he got the clog, but the first guy damaged the pipe and Furr would have to send someone else to fix it. I offered to go to Hime Drpot and get the part, dispatcher advised they couldn’t wait and would send someone two days later. When I told them I’d call another plumber and deduct from the final, they assured me they’d send someone the next day, Sunday, between 12 and 2. When I phoned at 2, they told me 4:30. Waited around, called at 4:30 and was told that my appointment was booked for Tuesday, not Sunday. In the end, ‘client relations’ assured me that there would be no bill as they never completed the job. They also assured me, in writing, that they would send me a check fir the $214 that the other plumber shared to fix the Furr damage. 6 weeks later, when I asked where the check is, I’m told that there is no check and that they want me to pay the $1172 for the incomplete work. Thieves.

An F.H. Furr technician wrongly diagnosed my HVAC as having a crack in the heat exchanger, and recommended a complete Furnace replacement; a different company found and fixed the real issue within 60 seconds of examining the unit. My family returned home from a weeklong vacation to discover our furnace was having issues. I had an existing "Preferred Partner Plan" with F.H. Furr (now cancelled), so I called them to take a look. Their technician opened the furnace, pointed out some debris from the air intake and said we should look into it, and then said he would continue examining the unit while I went back to work. After a short time he called me back and explained there was a crack in the heat exchanger. He showed me photos of corrosion on the individual chambers as proof of this, and said that unfortunately he had to shut down the gas to the unit due to EPA requirements, as he detected "unsafe levels of Carbon Monoxide" in the basement at 12 ppm. (When researching this information later, I learned there are no EPA standards for indoor air quality, but that 12 ppm is well within the limit you would expect from a house with a gas stove, let alone a gas furnace.) Something seemed off before I had the opportunity to research this fully, but based on the technician's advice, I engaged a consultant from F.H. Furr to scope a replacement. That consultant's quote came back at a high enough figure that I felt it best to bring in another company for a second opinion. When their technician arrived the next day, he saw the same debris, and found the true problem with the furnace was an animal nest that had been sucked down the intake pipe, blocking air flow to the system. He performed the exact same check as the F.H. Furr technician, by examining the individual chambers of the furnace with an endoscope, and informed me there were no cracks in the heat exchanger. Problem resolved in under a minute, with advice to seal the intake. I won't do business with F.H. Furr again.

This business preys on elderly senior women. Their $49 water heater drain ended up costing me over$8,000.00. Not only was I the victim of a bait and switch scam, but the installation was rejected twice after WSSC inspection. I have repeatedly called to have them come out to correct the issue, spoke to representatives who assure me they will contact me and after numerous calls , no one has responded to this issue. I have also just asked for info as to if my unit is eligible for energy saving credits and can’t even get a response to this question. This company should get a zero star rating.

Buyer beware: FH Furr baits the customer with a good price on plumbing maintenance, then switches to exorbitant prices for problems they find. FH Furr under delivers, then over charges the customer. FH Furr is more interested in generating business than looking out for their clients.

Stay far away from this company. I had them out for a routine inspection and immediately after, my thermostat was no longer working. They came out again and said they often go bad and to replace it with the same brand would cost $1133 or they could re-wire my system for a Nest thermostat for $293 (I already owned the Nest so their cost of $935 was not included). Guy game out and was super rude. I told him I only needed it to be rewired for my Nest and I could install the Nest myself, but he was visibly upset and threatened I would fry my system. He left and said, "You can't go by the colors of the wires or it won't work." He didn't label the wires either. After researching for hours, I realized the colors of the wires were correct and I could use them. I did and it worked. When I called F.H. Furr to complain, they said they would offer me a $150 discount and re-quoted me for the original Lennox thermostat but increased the quoted price from $1133 to $1551, so they discount is basically being pulled from their work. They are so rude and impossible to reach. Stay away from this shady business. I have multiple quotes before and after showing they jacked up the price of the work in order to make up for the $150 discount they claimed to give me after I complained their worker was both rude and didn't complete the job properly. Stay away.
