My 88 year old Mother was having issues with her HVAC system and called Atlas Butler. They came out, turned off the gas charged her $150 and said she needed an entire new system to the tune of $10,000! I called the guy who installed my system for a second opinion and he indicated the A/C needed 2lbs of freon and the furnace needed a new flue pipe but was safe to use as is. His cost = $2,000! This is the definition of elder abuse!Review fromSharon J

It was time for a new furnace and a/c. Mark came and quoted me a price for a 13 Seer a/c and a furnace. I went ahead and accepted his price. Later I looked on line and seen where no one is supposed to sell 13 seer in 2023, they are being phased out. Not once during his sales pitch did he mention this. Plus, he tried to say at first that they didn’t give discounts to senior citizens. Yet, five minutes later after he reaches me a form, I seen the sign ace for a discount for seniors. He just hurriedly checked it off. How anyone can be so dishonest and overcharge so much for discontinued a/c is pathetic.Review fromStephen P

They refused to provide an itemized invoice for a replaced part. They claimed they only had job pricing. For those unaware, this is from the Ohio Attorney General’s website: In any repair or service transaction, the supplier must disclose: - Charges for disassembly or reassembly; - Charges for work that only gets partially completed; - Storage charges; - Service charges, travel charges, charges for diagnosis; and - Work that will be performed by a third party, if the supplier disclaims the warranty of that work. When you pay, they have you sign without any related text, but applies to your approval of the invoice.Review fromGeorge C

I bought a furnace from them 17 years ago. It recently failed because the control board failed. The technician came over and wanted $1,500 for a new board and $600 to install it. I found the replacement board online for $250 and replaced it myself in about 15 minutes. It's obvious that they were trying to take advantage of me because my heat was out. Some markup is appropriate, but 600% plus $600 to do at most a 1/2 hour job is outrageous. I would not buy a furnace from them because if you need it repaired, they will treat you like they treated me.Review fromTony M

These employees of Atlas Butler were sadly trying to take advantage of my wife and I, in our cold house, with wild claims and bogus predictions to get us to buy a new furnace that WE DID NOT NEED!!! -Inherently suggesting that this is the way they were trained: My furnace went out on December 23, the day of the crazy cold storm. I cannot tell how excited I was to find a company with a technician available to come to service our non-working furnace. Atlas Butler sent a technician who was very knowledgable and proceeded to check and explain what was going on. After some tests he determined that the problem was the gas valve. He explained that they do not carry those on the truck and that the parts supplier in town was no longer open. He recommended that we buy a new furnace as he did not know what else might be wrong with my 11 year old high efficiency furnace. He did not know how much that new furnace would cost. Amazingly, he could get one of his estimators there in short order, despite the crazy cold weather. The estimator came and proceeded to calculate the size furnace we would need and decided the same size would be appropriate. He then quoted an astronomical number, which he revised on our balking, revised again and then again. I refused the new furnace offer. On Tuesday, 5 days later, when the supply house was open, we had a tech from another company come and install a new gas valve, (for $300.00 lower than the Atlas Butler part quote) and the unit is working great. These employees of Atlas Butler were sadly trying to take advantage of my wife and I, in our cold house, with wild claims and bogus predictions to get us to buy a new furnace that WE DID NOT NEED!!! -Inherently suggesting that this is the way they were trained:Review fromKevin S

I used their plumbing services, and I'm satisfied with the work they completed (though they couldn't complete it all as I ended my contract with them), I'm not a fan of their business tactics. As they were working on part of the job in my bathroom they decided to change the price on me by about an additional two thousand. The "why" is the funny part, they claimed they had to rework the wall to install the cabinet I showed them during the estimate process. They reviewed the **** cabinet, quoted a price, and said they could install it during the estimate, when they clearly couldn't without adding an additional few thousand dollars mid job. Their business practices are deceptive, and I would encourage you to look around for other plumbing options before selecting this company.Atlas Butler Heating And Cooling

The additional price is for reinforcing the wall for support. The cabinet is a free-hanging cabinet that requires additional support that we were unaware of. Additional work would be needed with an associated cost to ensure proper support. AB installed the shower valve but other work cannot be completed until the wall is reinforced.Review fromDorothy

I was a customer for 15- 20 years with **********************. Every time in the last 8 - 10 years they came out for a service call they said I needed something new. I refused all but a couple of things over the years. I had my last service with them before putting my home on the market and they said I needed a new Air Conditioner. I called another company out and didn't tell them what Atlas had said. The other company said my Air conditioner was working great. I moved a month later and I canceled my Heating and Cooling and Plumbing service plan with Atlas on Sept 7, 2022. They are still charging me. I have called twice and will be calling again tomorrow. If you cancel their service plan they still charge you. WHAT a RIP OFF!!Atlas Butler Heating And Cooling

The CLient was charged for an extra month due to a miscommunication on the cancel date. The client has been refunded $19.95 to her credit card. The client called on 10/13 to cancel so there was only one charge after that phone call.Review fromDiane M

Had furnace tune-up by Atlas (****). He said our heater blower was starting to fail as it was getting high amps on his testing of the blower. He quoted a price of $1555. I said order the part but then I reviewed warranty info I had which showed we had a 10 year warranty and the part should be covered under warranty. I confirmed this with ****** and another vendor. I called Atlas and they insisted it was not covered under warranty. So I cancelled the service and had another vendor come in (this vendor agreed it was covered under warranty and charge would be $517). Bu first that vendor wanted to assess the blower. I watched them test the system numerous times. Tech showed me on the panel the expected range of acceptable amps. The high end of that range was 20 amps and our unit tested at 2.5-3. He also tested other aspects of unit and found nothing wrong. So, we did not need the blower replaced. I filed a complaint online with Atlas who basically said they would share my concerns with management. They need to do more than that I think as **** was clearly trying to rip us off .Don't know if he works under commission but doesn't matter. He was unethical and as a result I will never use Atlas again.Atlas Butler Heating And Cooling

************** acknowledges that the part was under warranty for an additional year. The quoted price was for labor as it is a 4-hour labor-intensive job. We understand that other companies are able to do the job for less than that, we simply quoted our price for that level of repair. **************'s readings at the time of the service indicated that the unit was over-amping and documented the whining noise. This prompted a recommendation to replace the part, and the homeowner made the decision.
