      I’ve had my unit for almost three years and I’ve had nothing but issues. First my belongings got chewed through and ruined by rats and I even found snake sheddings in my stuff! Second, they randomly increase the rates and claim they send notices but yet I never have once received a notice and then they blame it on the postal service!!! And third, they fail to mention that it’s a 20$ late fee OR 20%, whichever is greater and bc I have a large unit, I’m getting double charged!!! They need to be shut down!!!!!

      I accidentally reserved a unit on 11/26/24. I left a voicemail for the company stating that I had reserved them by mistake as my husband stated it was too far away. I asked for a refund as well. I didn't hear back from the company which prompted me to call them again the next morning. This time I spoke with the manager and he stated that he would cancel my unit for a future date at the end of December. I explained to him that he misunderstood as I wasn't needing the unit at all and I needed it cancelled immediately and a refund issued. He stated he would talk to his manager and I would receive my refund in a couple days. Here we are 12/6/24 and I have not received a cancellation email or a refund. I have left numerous messages for return calls, I also left an email, I even stated that if I didn't receive my cancellation and refund that I made by mistake then I would be forced to report them and leave a negative review. This manager clearly doesn't care about his job, the people he works for, or the people that he services. I recommend people to stay far away from this storage company! This manager has shown that he is completely incompetent and unprofessional!

      Avoid renting from this company at all costs. They engage in deceptive practices, luring you in with an attractive initial rate only to rapidly increase it soon after. I've had a unit for just two months, and they're already raising my rent. When I questioned the sudden price hike, they openly admitted that this is their standard practice—raising rates every two to three months. This experience is unlike any other I've had. In my previous rental of four years before moving to Winter Springs, FL, I only saw one rent increase the entire time. I regret not doing my research and reading the negative reviews before signing up. I'll be canceling my agreement and moving to a more trustworthy company. Don't make the same mistake I did.

      Owner has increased rent every 6 months since started renting unit. In the last 6 months my unit increase $50. Owners states its market adjustment however I have a unit down the street and rate has remained the same rate. I travel for work and need to keep my stuff safe and it’s not easy to get back and move stuff to another facility however the price gouging and greed is unacceptable and this business needs to be stopped!!

      I have had an incredibly disappointing experience with Compass Storage on 250 Sandy Creek Parkway. Over the past year, my monthly storage fees have skyrocketed by over 100%, despite the staff turning up the temp from 67degrees when I moved in to 80 now with 67% humidity. I’ve paid more than $3,000 to store my belongings here, and the results have been devastating. The storage units are advertised as climate-controlled, but that’s far from the truth. The temperature has been set at 80°F with 67% humidity, which is not adequate to protect sensitive items. As if that wasn’t bad enough, I’ve also noticed discoloration on the ground in my unit, indicating a potential leak. This combination of poor climate control and possible water damage has caused over $20,000 in damage to my belongings, including irreplaceable items. I trusted this facility to keep my items safe, and they have completely failed. I do not recommend Compass Storage to anyone looking for a reliable and secure storage solution. For the amount they charge, the quality should be far better. If you value your possessions, look elsewhere.

      Compass Storage is a fraud. They use deception to promote their agenda to gain proceeds. There is no transparency. They lack true people skill. They are abrasive and use deceptive practice. I had the misfortune of being lied to and over lock from my unit without notification then force to accept their improper billing methods.

      Compass Self storage took over management of the storage facility I use in Limerick, PA. I had scheduled automatic payments with the original company. My payment was scheduled for 8/30/24. On 9/5 I got a call saying I was late with payment and when did I plan to pay. Since there had been no notification of a change, I thought it was a fishing call and would not give credit card info over the phone. I stopped in the office 9/6, found the change in management to be true, so I paid, but was also charged a $20 late fee. They claimed to have notified everyone twice by email and once by text. I found 1 email in my spam in which neither the sender, subject line or content explained the management change. Even if I had seen it I would not have thought it was legitimate. It just had a link to click to pay a bill to a company I'd never heard of. I showed phone records to prove to them I never received a text. On 9/11 I received an email welcoming me to Compass Self Storage with instructions to stop in an re-set up automatic payment. And on 9/16 I received a letter from them dated 9/5 with the same information. They did finally agree to credit my unit $20 for the next month, but I was so angry at the way I'd been treated and the condescending attitude of the women behind the desk, I've emptied the storage unit. They say they never refund a late charge. So if they won't give me my $20 back I am happy to tell anyone who will listen of their business practices. If the first contact had been the email or letter that explained the change, or even a phone call that explained, and notification in time to pay on time, it would have been OK. I assume I'm not the only one, so they must have had quite a profitable 1st month! The facility is nice and the gentleman who also worked for the previous management is very nice. It is the women representing Compass, the late charge preceding any notice of change and the refusal to refund an unjustified charge that I want to warn people about!

      This company owns Compass Storage. I am in the middle of trying to move into an apartment, and discovered that I have a collection from Compass Storage. They are trying to say I owe them $1300.  7 years ago I did get behind on the rent by about $850.  So through the help of family & friends, they all called in & paid money towards my rental unit so that I could keep it. It was paid in full. Later that day the NEW manager would not let me in. He said that he didn't want other people to pay for my unit.  He wanted ME to pay for it in cash & only in cash.  I told the manager that I would return with the money in an hour & he said it would be too late by then. That the unit was to be sold after that hour & it was too close to the cutoff.  I took him at his word & became upset. As this unit had everything I owned in it including my baby photos, my children's photos, my military file, my computer, my birth certificate & I could go on & on.  All of my personal items were in this unit.   Because I was crying he threatened to call the police if I didn't leave so I had no choice, I left.  Later that day, the unit was sold for $1300.   2 days later I learned that had I gone ahead & gotten the cash & returned, I would have beat the new owners there (because the unit would not have been sold yet) & I could have retaken possession of it. But the manager did NOT tell me this. He lied to me & told me it was hopeless.   To say I was heartbroken doesn't even begin to cover how I felt, as all my belongings had been lost forever.  Because the unit was sold for more than what was owed I no longer owe the company any money. I had to lose all my belongings in order to cover that $850 debt.  It felt to me as if the manager was trying to pocket the cash and then use the money that everyone else had paid to cover the unit. Because I wouldn't give him the cash or couldn't do it right away, he sold the unit. Without the apartment I have no place to live and have attempted to reach Compass.

      Do NOT recommend use of this place. (Shaker Heights Ohio) We reserved a 7x10 unit online, but when we showed up, the unit the manager showed us was only 7x7.5. When we initially said, "this looks smaller than what we ordered", she tried to gaslight us saying, "no, it's 7x10". However, it was only when we showed her that the measurements on the unit's label that said 7x7.5, she started saying that it was our fault for not checking the unit in-person before reserving. And somehow it was our fault for not knowing their website was broken. Our primary account holder (the person who made the reservation), attempted to negotiate with the manager, citing his online reservation. Only to be led to a 10x10 unit with an additional charge. This bait and switch was not appreciated along with the condescending and patronizing tone of the worker. The three other people who were helping with the move-in were yelled out of the front area because they were not the primary account holder and "I don't want to deal with them" (we were standing quietly). While this was happening, another customer was in the same room. He was not asked to leave at any point. Overall, there was a lot of shady behavior and red flags. Our unit was silently downgraded with no notice to us or pay decrease, we were gaslit into thinking the unit was the size we wanted, our primary account holder was arbitrarily isolated when discussing options for getting the size we needed, customers were strongly pushed into writing good reviews, and the experience was overall much worse than when I used ******** the previous year. We would not suggest trusting this location with your business or storage items.

      If I could leave 0 stars I would. This company is absolutely disgusting. The facility I used was filthy, my things has mouse dropping all over, and they raised the price of my unit without notice. When I asked about that, the supposed general manager told me they sent out a letter. I never recieved and letter or any other notification. When I was finally moving ny things out of there, the GM locked down the facility blocking my access. She claimed they closed access an hour before the business closes. The sign says access ends 30 minutes before closing. I have pictures if the signage. I had to come back the next day to get my things and take them with me. Once I finished moving everything out, I went to her and let her know I was finished and the unit was empty. I asked her what I needed to do to close the account and she said nothing beyond letting her know. That she would walk through the unit and then take me out of the system. Why then, is it a month later and I'm being charged the rental fee for the unit?! This is insane and so annoying. Anyone thinking about using this place, DON'T. They have terrible service, they are inconvenient and they don't have easily accessible customer service. Now I have to file fraud charges with my bank to get my money back. I'm thinking about getting a lawyer to be honest.
