I had the device installed and things went great at first, my only complaint was how long it would be before I could blow. After 8 months I had an issue that it kept sending error. It locked out at a state park. It took 6 weeks before car was fixed. It simply needed a new device. Now just a few months down the road I’m locked out of it for the 4th time in 2 months. They charge you for each time. And I have asked in chat, on phone and in email for the report I have not received one for any of the previous lock outs. I’m 1 year sober and know it wasn’t from bad blows like they are trying to tell me. Getting someone on the phone is a joke. I have waited hours. Their client portal is a joke you can’t get any information on it. Like did they send a new device or record of call nothing. Lifesafer- hire some people do it right you are shamefulLifeSafer

We appreciate your feedback and understand your concerns. All Ignition Interlock Device (IID) settings are dictated by state regulations. Please note that the IID will register any trace of alcohol from any source containing it - this is how the device effectively ensures an impaired individual cannot start a vehicle, and how we can confidently state the LifeSafer ignition interlock is fulfilling its purpose. Someone will be reaching out to see how we can assist you.Review fromCoty N

I signed up for smartstart, and the technician decided to install before discussing it with me. The device started reading errors. Then the technician charged me a $75 lockout fee. I asked him to remove the device he said it would be $400. I signed up with intoxalock and had them remove the device. I called lifesafer the said to return device to a location in Lincoln, NE. They also charge me a service and de install fee. I called to dispute and 2 weeks later they charged me another service. I'm not even a customer. My bill is now $419.LifeSafer

We apologize for any misunderstanding, we did set and confirm through online chat that the appointment was in Fredricksburg because Culpeper was closed that day.Review fromJoe J

My device hasn't worked for a whole month and because of it, my car battery is ruined. Their technician John at ****** *** **** in Cherry Hill makes excuses, takes breaks, and has no regard of other peoples time. My first visit, he chatted with his friends, turning my 2 hr appointment into a 5 hr wait. He also left me with a broken device on my final month and could not take 30 minutes out of his day to fix it. To make matters worse, last night John cancelled my appointment with 14 hr notice, while on my way to work. Due to the time frame, I had to wait until AFTER the missed appointment to reschedule a new appointment. Upon calling to ensure I avoid a missed appointment fee, I have been left on hold for 45 HOURS. A live chat agent FINALLY got through, Jennifer, In which she gives me new information. Apparently, I need to contact MVC my myself to confirm dates then call back (as if it doesn't take 5 hrs to reach someone) to schedule a final download. This would have been OK, had Lifesaver communicated and told me what steps need to be taken on my behalf for the removal. Now I am in my final week and will likely have to PAY and have the device in my car longer than legally necessary due to the lack of communication and customer service response time. Like Jorge's review below, They don't tell you until it is essentially too late, that YOU are responsible for setting up correct dates, and calling MVC for removals or lockouts. Although we are literally paying them for a MONITORING and REPORTING service. After nearly 5 hours of waiting I was connected to a live agent, Jennifer, whom during our conversation called me "condescending" for asking if she understood my issue.. And Screamed " I ALREADY TOLD YOU" After expressing to her I was never informed about the removal process and I would like clarification so I do not miss any more steps. She then hung up when I asked for appointment confirmation. LIFESAFER HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PREDATORY PRACTICES.Joe J

I was left on hold for 4.5 hours, not 45 hours. Nevertheless, I do not wish to spend my only day off calling Lifesafer for issues they and their technicians have caused.LifeSafer

We recognize that obtaining & managing an interlock can be quite a confusing process and it is our goal to make that experience as easy as possible. Unfortunately, all state processes are different, even different for people in the same state. For that reason, clients are responsible for knowing what the state requires of them for removal ahead of time. We are happy to assist if you contact us and ask, which is what happened yesterday. A LifeSafer team member will be reaching out and well try our best to resolve your issues.Joe J

Life safer has not made any efforts to contact me, AT ALL. They only said that for the people reading these reviews. The new auto shop I was referred to even insisted that I do not contact Lifesafer because their communication is poor. My deinstallation is set for tomorrow morning. I did my final reading a WEEK ago and I have yet to receive my documents for my device removal which I was told would be emailed to me by Lifesafer. Again even further proof Lifesafer is NEGLIGENT, NO COMMUNICATION, NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT, NO PROFESSIONALISM, and will PRETEND to care and rectify anything at all. I paid hundreds of dollars for the company to NOT to do anything at all but profit off of my everyday reporting. I came BACK to ensure this review reaches someone. It is that serious. DO NOT USE LIFESAFER. There are other interlock companies that offer better service all around.Review fromJORGE C

Hidden fees, unorganized, no accountability! I have had Issues with life safer since the date of installation. My previous experience is also on here as a review. Most recently I was notified that I the customer/client am responsible for making sure lifesafer has the correct dates setup for appointments and lockout dates. Life safer has continuously put my lockout dates before my actual appointment dates. Meaning my car is disabled before the actual appointment date, additionally these “lockouts” get reported to the probation officer as violations. Scarlett at life safer explained to me that it is my job to check the dates they setup. Which I do not agree with, I am the customer, I am paying for a service. It’s is not my job to monitor and service my vehicle. Previously they also gave me false payment amounts at sign up and did not disclose fees. Life safer also sent me messages verifying I had appointments 24 hours before my appointment. On one occasion I never received the text so I called and they let me know I had missed the appointment and I would have to pay an additional fee. The shop continuously neglected to charge me monthly dues and I would receive a call asking why I hadn’t paid. Currently I am having the device removed and the removal fee is nearly $200! And I addition the shop is charging $60! Please avoid doing business with this company at all cost. Choose a more reputable company with no smoke and mirrorsLifeSafer

High-quality service and the satisfaction of our clients are of utmost importance to us at LifeSafer. Our Resolutions Manager has been in contact with you and replied to all your email in a timely manner since August of 2021. When we tried to resolve the issue with the shop charge, you refused to provide any documentation regarding the charges and refused to communicate further.Review fromRobert W

Ok, I made a serious mistake. I admit it and own it. I drove drunk. I didn't hurt anyone or damage anyones property. However, this business will rip you off and lie to you. They won't disclose all the codts associated with their services. The device that they use, that is installed in my vehicle, will give false positives which in turn cause a "lockout" which will cost you money. Additionally, if you call them to discuss this issue, you will be charged a "service call" for talking to them on the phone. I regret what I did but I regret more using this company.LifeSafer

Lifesafer was one of the worst experiences I've ever had!! After having a lifesafer ignition interlock installed by ****** ******** in Pueblo, my car never started again. I had to have ******* remove the lifesafer device and install an intoxalock device. It's been 26 days since I switched to intoxalock and lifesafer still has not refunded the $125 monitoring fee. I've had no problems since switching to Intoxalock/******* and would definitely recommend Intoxalock over Lifesafer!!LifeSafer

I have this device for 6 months without any problem and i was happy about it and it also changed my life style being sober for a very long time. But this morning when i blow my device then started my car it says that lockout on the 12/11/22 8:58:18pm reason code:588 and my service date is on 12/19/22 at 8:30am. I don’t know what is the reason is and all i know is i did not violated or tamper anything at all. I called the customer service several times but they always put me on hold for almost an hour twice. I hope they can fix this issue remotely because i have to go to work until the 11th and i will not be able to go to the office until then.LifeSafer

I plan on removing this device! They do erroneous violations and I’m sure there will be more to come. I paid $25 to get it seen then $$55..for a totally false violation..I have been sober it was installed and have continued to do so. The first excuse I was given was that I didn’t drive my vehicle enough..negative ..I work 5 days a week and take my son to school. Then I was told it’s because I eat or drink certain liquids that can cause violations. Another lie!I now have to write a letter to Secretary of State for the reason of the so called violations..which I do not know what it is..Oh wait they said for tampering..so what is the reason then..not driving enough..eating or tampering?I did not tamper with the device at all!.I called and was transferred to a voicemail..quick to take my $$ but not resolve my issue!Do not use them ever..they will bleed you dry!LifeSafer

We at LifeSafer appreciate your feedback and understand your concerns. All Ignition Interlock Device (IID) settings are dictated by state regulations. IIDs randomly ask for additional tests while the engine is running. If the retest is not taken and passed within your state's allotted time frame, the unit will log a Retest Violation and require service. This is to prevent someone from driving drunk after having a sober person take a test to start the vehicle. Someone from the LifeSafer leadership team will be reaching out to you to see how we can best assist you with this going forward.Review fromCharles T

This company is garbage. Don't waste your time they only want your money. I'm getting my device removed today because of fake violations and I'm going with smartstart. First off they lied and said there was a shop close to me that does the monitoring....there isn't. Second I've called and left numerous messages about the issue I'm having and Noone will answer or return my calls.LifeSafer
