He required a $1000 deposit to even to the estimate to replace an upper and lower deck. The problems with his incomplete estimate caused my house closing to be delayed by 2 weeks. Then when he finally was scheduled to begin demolition and reconstruction, he kept not showing up. Finally, he said he’d do demolition in the fall, but do the reconstruction in the spring. In the end, we found a contractor who 1) charged nearly $10k less for the job and 2) began right away and finished the job in a week. It was worth us to lose the $1000 deposit to go with the new guy. Beware Bruce Construction!

I have several houses in the area and my regular contractor passed away so the local hardware store recommended Mike Bruce we did a complete rehab on one of the properties so Mike framed framed windows and doors and installed them and siding 1200sq foot ranch $30k I bought the windows and doors , when my sheet rocker noticed the windows framed without headers. When I asked him he said “my guy must have missed that” ok no big deal just fix it, then the siding started to fall off and has continued to fall off , he came out to fix it and face nailed the entire row on the back side of the house. Now he has since ghosted me, I called in another siding guy who couldn’t believe how bad it was he said it was the worst hackery he had seen in 40 years so now I had to pay someone to install headers ,and redo the siding job.when I went back to the hardware store that recommended him they said we have heard this a lot lately. So got myself a new carpenter and a new hardware store. Don’t let this happen to you.

Just doesn’t keep his word. Gives you one price. It ends up being another. He rounds his prices up. For example he stated the price to be $850 not a quote stated then turned around and billed me $900 and it’s happened a couple of times. And he makes excuses says his head is all over the place. Has no exact pricing. Tries to find more ways to get work out of you instead of finishing job. Lastly I never heard of someone installing a window and not finishing the outside. He stated that’s extra. My grandmother had her windows installed and the outside of the window was completed and covered but bruce left the insulation exposed on the outside because he said that cover it is not apart of a window installation job.
