  I was very disappointed with Universal Windows. My husband and I met with ***** and had discussed replacing the window in our entire house. After further discussion, we then decided to only do the downstairs. We reached out to ***** the day before the company was coming out to measure. He told us to let the guys know that there would be a change, but to go ahead and measure the whole house. My husband spoke with them the day of measurement, but later found out they did not make the necessary notations on the form. My mother in law was at the house and signed paperwork with the measurements before they left. My husband continued communicating with ***** about the change, and was told he would be meeting with his supervisor and would be getting paperwork over to us for the change. Communication with ***** went on for 2 weeks, but no paperwork was ever sent over. I then called and spoke with **** ******* about the changes and while talking to him, I received a call saying my windows were in and were ready to be installed. He told me since they had already been ordered, that there was nothing they could do because the paper was signed on the day of measurement. We were told to let the measurement tech know, which we did, but didnt realize we would have to follow up to be sure they did their job. This is very disappointing because communication continued after this for 2 weeks through text messaging making it seem as though things on their end were being handled to complete the change. In the end, they did end up taking $2,500 off the total bill, but that is a lot less than the $17,000 had we only done the bottom floor. I would not recommend them, but if you do, be sure to follow up on all changes because they will not always do their job.

  Universal of Windows Direct of Charlotte installed all of our home windows nearly 10 years ago. The windows are just 'OK' as far as quality is concerned, but even though I've bought their cheap windows, they continue to harass me with advertising mail on a regular and frequent basis. I've called the local office and their corporate office more times than I can count, and still I continue to receive their useless ads. Is it really that difficult to be removed from a mailing list? Sometimes something so simple can tell one all they need to know about the company behind it! I won't be using or recommending their products or services again.

  About 2 years ago my wife and I purchased a whole house of windows and a front door at well over $20,000. The wrong door was ordered and then lost by Universal . After another long wait for the door it was installed but the finish of the door was not acceptable and the door was replaced but hung poorly and would stick . When the door wouldnt open we called and was told that I was being charged $145 to get one of their repair men to properly install the door. With my experience with them one would have to ask why do business with a company whom cant install the product properly?

  The salesman was extremely knowledgeable with your vinyl windows and educated me along the way. He way very friendly and answered any questions that I had. I did have other quotes from other companies but I was sold on how this product was made and pricing.

  The company does not listen to your requests or your needs. I learned early on while getting a quote they do not care about your needs. I would never give them a ***** and trust them with materials to last in my home. I was treated poorly when I called to explain what happened to me. Whoever answered the phone actually told me they were all there to make a sale, and dismissed what happened to me, then after a couple more rude comments, hung up on me. Unless you sign that financing they want you to sign the first day they walk into your home, it seems like you mean nothing to them.
