One star because there is no option for zero.I had a website and a sub-domain with PowWeb for several years. After becoming dissatisfied with them, I called in autumn of 2016 to close my account.I then moved my domains to a different service provider.Six years later, in September of 2022, I find a $615.38 charge from PowWeb on my credit card. After much discussion with their "customer service rep" I was offered a pro-rated refund which I said was unacceptable as I've not used their service in over six years. I asked for a supervisor and was told all supervisors were in a meeting and that I'd get a call back. When the supervisor called and I explained everything, also pointing out that they could check their servers and see there has been zero traffic from me in more than six years, and they could also check and see that my domains have been with a different ISP for more than six years. The supervisor claimed I called them in 2019 and set up an account. I asked her why I would do that when I'd been with a different ISP for years. She said she would escalate my complaint and that I would hear from them via email. My credit card company said they could not refund my money as the charge was not "fraudulent" since I'd given PowWeb my credit card number. I had to file the complaint again pointing out that I cancelled the service more than six years ago.To my mind, it is fraudulent to charge a former client because you still have their credit card however I acknowledge that it might simply be a case of incompetence on their part and that whoever I spoke with when I cancelled the account did not fully cancel it. But if that was the case, why did I not incur any charges from them for six years?Seeing other reviews, it would seem this sort of behavior is standard practice for this company. It certainly appears that way.

They are beyond irritating. I signed up back in 2018, the customer service is so awful lately, I have decided to switch to another company. I had signed up with SEO and help building by website. I would have been better off gambling the money away. They give you no inkling that they do anything for you in SEO. They across the board contradict each other as if there is no *************. No one is on the same page, no quality assurance. I held on this long because it is a point to switch hosting companies. I've had to contact customer service over 8 times to migrate away from them. Just a horrible, horrible company.

I was told they will pay be back $20,000 in damages and now its turning into a legal issue. I've been with them since 2006 when ***** was the owner. Its been a nightmare dealing with them. The servers go out everyday and the live chat and phone customer service are not trained right.

I purchased a domain from Bluehost in October 2021, however, I did not use nor signup for automatic renewal and I signed up for the free domain. I have not used this domain since I created it and I canceled my subscription in October 2021. However, they have been charging my credit card since October 2021 up until now October 2022 stating I had an automatic renewal when I haven't used this domain since I canceled it. I called customer support and they told me all they can do is cancel my card on file but can not get a refund. This is ludicrous and I will be taking them to court because after reading other reviews I see this is regular for them.

I am a volunteer at ********, a non-profit organization and I must say that we had a terrible experience using ********** services. Their hosting is incredibly slow, their service is very poor and unprofessional. Many times, while asking for support, we've heard noises in the background, that were not suitable for a professional hosting service working in office. We had terrible experience with the hosting, as our websites were constantly "down" due to their poor service, causing us damage. Oftentimes, we've talked with different agents from their support, and none of them was describing the issues we've experienced, same. It looked like their organization in the company is very low or we experienced uneducated and unprofessional staff.

Got Bluehost, I set my setting to manual and come to find out they were trying to charge my old credit card but didn't now, didn't know why my credit score was going down, ruining my personal life, saw the charge 2 months after, contacted support out of *****, they played mind games. One rep said they could refund, 2 said they could not, then one rep said they could refund everything except one month.....after complaining several times, then the rep gave me a quote not for 1 month but for 2 months so they lied, right in the middle of the chat, then the rep tried to phrase their wording several ways making it sound like they could mindF... me and these ***** support egotisical chat reps in their preventing billing do not understand the will power or the strength of capitalism and the power of bad press, I tried to warn them several times but their heads were too big....all over ******. So a rep said they could refund me but then I had to step away, and apparently got another rep w/ another bad manager, and went through the same thing, tried to lie, said they couldn't then they could etc. Here in the US, the thing is we never give up until we win. ****** is nothing compared to the amount of bad press this company is going to get from me. It's funny they don't understand capitalism and the losses they will receive from this poor customer service. After getting upset about them stealing my money, just like the guy below, they transferred me to a manager and the manager just disconnected after saying please hold for 2-3 minutes.

Bluehost is very difficult to use and very unhelpful. I signed up on 05/09 and requested to cancel 07/08. During this time I've been struggling to create a website and connecting my domain. The most user unfriendly system you can imagine. I finally got tired of banging my head against the wall and decided to use a better web service. I chatted with customer service and they told me that they could cancel my account but they could not provide a refund. I explained I thought this was a ridiculous policy because I haven't actually used the service or published a website. The customer service against pretended to reach out to their billing department only to be told no. I am so glad I left. Being a customer of theirs is the worst.

If you have a existing domain change the registrar immediately. Hostgator sent me multiple request to pay for an expiring domain. I submitted payment for a year then an automatic payment went through. I was charged twice and they refused to correct their confusion. I submitted a chargeback after they refused to refund me for something I did not want and they suspended my domain even after I had a year paid for. Disgusting business practice.
