I decided to join AARP online. The sign up and billing process was 2 pages long. On the second page, I was told to go back and correct an error on the first page. On the first page is where you select which plan you would like (1,3, or 5 years). I was not expecting the website to reselect the 5 year option after I had already chosen the 1 year. After correcting the mistake, I finished the process and of course, I was charged $63. There is no after hours assistance option. And as a result of this blip in their website, I now have $8 in the bank until I get paid again. This is horribly predatory behavior directed at a vulnerable part of society. When I called to get the problem resolved, i was refunded the money, but it may not show back up in my account for a month. This could be devastating for someone. It almost is for me. Thank goodness I bought some groceries before I signed up. This whole experience has been horrible. I am in tears for the people that they are taking advantage of. AARP, shame on you for not being more senior positive and shame on me for giving you my money.AARP

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. AARP takes your feedback related to signing up for membership via our website seriously. Our call centers are closed on Sundays, which is the day you started your membership. I see that you contacted AARP yesterday regarding this matter and that a refund was issued immediately. Additionally, your AARP membership has been cancelled as a result of the refund being issued.Review fromSean M

Absolutely TERRIBLE customer service. We booked flights through them a month ago and it has been a nightmare. We were informed from the airliner that the flight was potentially cancelled so we called them, they referred us to AARP (our booking agency) and AARP confirmed our flights were fine. Jump forward a few days to the day right before flight and we see that our flight has been removed from the itinerary and it has in fact been canceled. We started calling AARP at 7:30 AM, It is now currently 12:15 AM, yes a.m. meaning the day of our flight, after what is now about 17 hours of holding, the run around, more calling, etc. We have received absolutely no compensation, no credit, no anything. We paid extra to be able to pick our seats and cannot do that. We paid extra to cancel tickets and they won’t allow us to do that. They cancelled another flight of ours without authorization. And now 17 hours later, most of which has been on the phone with numerous employees and so called ‘supervisors’ that literally can’t help in the slightest. And they STILL CANT EVEN CONFIRM IF WE HAVE A FLIGHT tomorrow.. well actually today since it’s after midnight. They have not offered a single dollar for our time, stress, frustration or anything. They are incompetent, don’t give a s**t about their customers, and don’t deserve to be in the flight booking business at all. They can 100% confirm they have our money (over 7 grand) that paid for flights, but can’t confirm that if we travel the three hours to JFK airport that we will have a flight at all. STAY AWAY FROM THEM. Update: We wake up to an email at 2:45am saying your flight is confirmed, ‘sorry for the inconvenience’. Unbelievable it took them this long to confirm we have a flight at all after paying them so much money. And we still can’t pick our seats which we paid more for, and of course they haven’t even agreed to compensate us for that. Will never be using AARP again and will be cancelling memberships immediately.AARP

There is nothing more embarrassing than stepping into a restaurant, presenting an AARP coupon and then having the Manager and Restaurant Owner inform me that such a coupon has never been accepted at their restaurant. Why does AARP continue to display this coupon on the AARP website? This is embarrassing to you and to me. FIX THIS !!!!!! I have had this embarrassing experience before in March 2021. Such BULL SHIT!!!!! I don’t trust AARP anymore. The restaurant that does NOT accept this AARP coupon it the GREEK MARINA, **** ************ ****, Honolulu, HI 96825AARP

I tried to get a free quote for homeowners insurance with AARP and was refused a quote for coverage because my roof was over 12 years old. Wow, what kind of insurance company is this? If I can't get coverage for my home, I do not need to support AARP. Also, I really don't see any savings.AARP

I received a billing from AARP in April, paid it 4/13/22, it cleared my bank 4/20/22, yet I got another bill the next month. At that time I wrote on the bill that I had already paid ($43 for three years) and to not send me another bill, and sent it back to them. Yesterday I got another bill!!! Since this “billing issue” has started I’ve heard of other people that have paid their membership for many years ahead, forgetting that they had paid the last billing. This could be considered a scam and I would like for their billing practices to be checked out. FYI, the billing I got yesterday offered a “special deal” of $45 for FIVE years…..!AARP

Inundated with texts from United Health after dealing with AARP. The texts/authors are a scam. Lying, saying I requested information from UH. I have insurance through another provider and will never change, so I NEVER requested information. I am sending the numbers to the AG and FCC. And, seriously considering not renewing my membership. AARP violated my privacy, so I can't trust them.
