I have had ASRP SUPPLEMENTAL INSURANCE for many years. During that time, they have let my account lapse 4 times. They do not reach out if there is a payment problem, they wait, 4 or 5 months. I usually find out from a provider. I am scheduled for surgery on June 6. While arranging my pre-op testing, the HOSPITAL informed me that my insurance AARP, had been cancelled. AGAIN. They lied about my account being on autopay. It has ALWAYS been on autopay. If the card has been renewed or replaced they do not contact you to say there is a problem. Instead, they wait 3-4 months and terminate your account without warning. My husband died in January. He was on my plan. I removed him in February. If there was a problem at that time, no one mentioned it. Now, they are more than happy to reinstate my account for a lump sum of $1400, to be paid immediately. I should pay no more than $1000 to get current - because of them. Despite the fact that next month’s bill is not yet due, they want it now. No other payment is acceptable on a Friday before a big holiday weekend. I explain I can make a partial payment today and the balance on 5/28:2025. I’m told tough, all or nothing. Because this is on them, their disorganization, their lack of customer service and utter lack of respect for their elderly clients, I want 6 months for FREE as compensation for my time, the emotional turmoil this creates in my life, over and over and over again, the hundreds of calls I need to make to providers at a time when I am mourning the loss of my husband and preparing for surgery. And their customer service is curt and rude, they assume the best defense is a good offense, Their attitude makes dealing with them painful! Unacceptable!!! My generation has made ASRP and United Healthcare Billions in revenue, and THIS is the thanks we get!!! Joan HoldenReview fromDoug H

I have been an AARP member for more then 10 years but I am going to cancel. They are being paid to endorse United Healthcare, a Medicare ***************** that has an extremely bad reputation for being accused of delaying and denying care. The latest issue is they are accused of paying nursing homes bonuses to not send residents to the hospital when an emergency arises. I questioned AARP about this and AARP admitted they are paid to endorse United Healthcare and then they tried to distance themselves from the reputation of United Healthcare. In my opinion AARP is not putting seniors first, they appear to be playing both side for ************ of experience: May 20, 2025AARP

they are nothing but a rip off for senior citizens. The only ones that benefit from this are people that have the money to spend. They lied to me about a deductible and a premium that I never asked for because I never signed up with them then they told me it would roll over to my new insurance company, but I never had them as an insurance company and I had to pay a deductible that was outrageous just to get a prescription that I needed and then to tell me it rolled over thats a blank lie and to charge me premiums for something I didnt sign up on thats ridiculous so I caught them in two different lies one the deductible was for a year and then another one told me it was for three months What else are they lying about? how do you get signed up for something you didnt sign and then they pass the buck to everybody else they pass it back to supervisors and they dont help you one lies the other one swears by it. This was only health insurance so I can only imagine what else there schemingAARP

Supposed to help you, senior citizen. The only senior citizen it seems to help but the ones that are financially well off doesnt seem to help the little people very discouraged with them. They try to help you with the health benefits. They charge you a deductible. Thats outrageous on a prescription then they charge you a premium and I didnt even know about. I selected to subscribe for 1 year for $20. AARP took $79 from my acct for a ****** subscription. When I called AARP to have the $59 refunded back to me, AARP took an additional $20 out of my account without telling me and then had me transfer to another **** to have the $79 refunded. The refund will now take 3 days. After the year subscription is over, I will never subscribe with them again.AARP

I have always been respectful of AARPs advocacy for seniors, however:1) when it comes to providing objective information for Medicare beneficiaries the organization comes across as a shill for United Health Care 2) I signed up for VSP vision care only to find out that that neither my wife's nor my ophthalmologists accept it. (Yes, I know, my bad for not checking beforehand). Trying to cancel it has been like getting rid of bamboo.AARP

Dear Ms. *********** you for your comments. I did research your membership, and you enrolled in AARP -- with an auto-renew subscription - in 2018. Each year, we have sent emails/letters to you advising you about the upcoming renewal charge (and providing information on how to cancel the auto-renew feature, if that is your preference). I will be sending you an email with some additional information. If you feel that your identity was stolen, you should report the incident to your financial institution(s)/credit card providers. ************ Insurance From AARP is the biggest ripoff to Seniors in *******! And that is going some in today's criminal world! Talk about a PONZU SCHEME! They say in their brochures that the plans cover "dentures" but in reality, they DEMAND that you pay them for a WHOLE YEAR before they will cover what they say they cover in the brochures! A complete RIPOFF!!!****************************AARP

The last thing on their mind is seniors. It is a lucrative business and with their non-profit status they give the impression of providing best values to seniors. Everything they offer is far more expensive than what one can get from other resources, insurance, travels, ****** not respect or trust them at all.AARP
