I spent $24,000 for my 4 new overhead doors. Installation went as planned, but I didn't finish my garage until 16 months after initial installation. On a Saturday morning, I attempted to open one of the doors. the motor ran, but the door didn't open. A call to Consolidated Door (the seller/installer) yielded a "put off" until Monday morning. I then called my salesman, with no response. As a mechanical guy myself, I checked into the problem as I needed to open the door at the time, not two days later. After noticing that the keyway between the opener sprocket and the opener shaft was empty. I then noticed the missing key taped to the top of the opener (apparently never installed). Because it was imperative that I open the door, I installed the key, tightened up the set screws, and pushed the button. The motor ran, but spun in reverse, uncoiling the cables from the spools. I then left it alone. Monday morning, the tech showed up. He was helpful and friendly. He explained that apparently the installer had never installed the key, and never set the limits for fully closed and fully open. 1 hour later, everything worked as it should, and I was happy. Three weeks later, I received an invoice for the service call and parts, totaling $430. After several calls and heated exchanges between the salesman, the corporate office manager, and the local installing office, I finally received a 50% discount on the invoice. The next week, I partially opened the door being referred to, and it wouldn't close. Another call to my salesman started another "fire" when he said that he'd send out the service tech to address the issue, but that I'd be charged. I ended up hiring a different local garage door company to service the door.
