  We hired Excel Custom Contractors to remove an existing deck and replace it with one of the same size & design; but with updated materials and more stable construction. It was not an easy 'demolish and replace' job. The Excel team had challenges to work through; and difficult existing landscape to work around. They did a superb job. The communication was excellent; their project planning software is very valuable. We would definitely hire Excel Custom Contractors again.

  We had Rob and his team build us a $15k custom privacy fence. It offers no privacy, as the finished product does not match the drawing we approved. The project was completed several months later than promised. Boards are crooked and paint was chipped off the metal toppers. He is refusing to "spend $1000s more" on decking to correct the issue because I won't remove my one star review on ******. Communication throughout the process was like pulling teeth unless a payment was due. The only time he responded promptly was the day I wrote said review, and he only texted me to tell me I was rude. No apologies, no effort to correct the problems with craftsmanship. There's a reason this guy has a list of people suing him-- the circuit court search results say more than I ever could-- he's a con artist.

  We engaged Excel Custom Contractor over a year ago, and the experience has been disastrous. The windows were installed incorrectly, leading to numerous leaks, including a severe one that flooded our basement. Despite our repeated inquiries, they failed to address the issue until we notified them that we had contacted our insurance company. Even then, their response was inadequate, and the owner insists that the windows are acceptable. We are extremely dissatisfied with their service and feel deceived. Very unprofessional lack of communication rude and horrible work I would not recommend!!! Also have been threatened that if I dont remove post off **** **** and my review off ****** they will not help resolve my issues let see how they feel bout this review.

  Our deck turned out exactly how we specified and looks great. The gate looks awesome. Some communication problems notifying us about employees who no longer worked for them. This delayed the project by several days.

  We hired Excel in January 2022 to do some work around our pool and on our patio. We gave them $5,647.63 as a down payment. The work was supposed to start by March 2022 per our contract. After numerous follow up attempts, we were told they had supply chain issues. We were understanding of this challenge, but it took months for us to get that information, a few months after the project was scheduled to start, with no commitment to a new start date. We asked for months to get plans/drawings for the project and measurements on how the project was going to be laid out ,as well as the size and placement of the patios and retaining walls. Instead of blue print plans, we got a artistic rendering for half of the project, with the retaining wall positioned right up against our pool fence. When we requested our down payment refund and mutual agreement to cancel the project, Excel quickly agreed to cancel the project and returned $3,008.25 of our down payment, stating we still had to pay for the fencing they ordered, but had not yet received. We agreed to pay for the fencing. When the fencing was delivered it was the wrong fencing (even though we provided the manufacturer, model name and number and color), so we refused delivery. We had to follow up multiple times in an attempt to get the rest of our down payment. Instead, Excel ordered more fencing. We no longer had a contract with Excel and didn't want them to order us any fencing. At the end of December we received another check from Excel for $1,187.95. Excel stated that they paid a contractor for the drawing so they would not refund that money. While the drawings were never correct/accurate, we agreed that we would cover that expense, although if they truly paid $1,451.43 for inaccurate artist renderings, they should be pursuing a refund from their contractor. At this point, we are done dealing with Excel and we are out $1,451.43 and 10-12 months of wasted time. I would never hire this company for anything. Buyer Beware.

  Excel Custom Contractors built us a four seasons room several years ago and we couldn't be happier with the results. They were very easy to work with through all phases of the project. They were the only contractor to recommend using a heat pump system for both heating and cooling, and that recommendation was spot-on. We also added heat coils below the tile floor, and despite all the windows, we can comfortably sit in the room during the coldest winter days.
