In August 2023 Better Business Bureau investigated Nolan & Kaufman Group’s business practices. BBB had received complaints, reviews, and scam tracker reports that prompted this investigation. Consumers were claiming that calls were being received from Nolan & Kaufman Group claiming to be a collection agency. Nolan & Kaufman Group were making demands of immediate payment or possible liens on all property. When consumers request statements or debt owed in writing Nolan & Kaufman Group response is “we’ll see you in court.”
On August 18, 2023, BBB contacted Nolan & Kaufman Group, by mail and email, requesting licensing information to support the Washington State operation address of 10900 NE 4th St Ste 1900 Bellevue Washington. Mail sent to Nolan & Kaufman Group was returned by the US Postal Service as Undeliverable. BBB received no response from the Nolan & Kaufman Group.
Any business involved in collecting a debt on behalf of a debt owner or collecting a debt you have purchased from another person, and either you, the debtor, or the debt owner are located in Washington, you must have a Collection Agency endorsement and be licensed in Washington.
BBB encourages consumers to not fall prey to high-pressure collection demands. Request collections be submitted by mail and do not give any payment information before verification of the debt owed.
