      I engaged the people from Stanley Steemer located on N. Kent Street, Winchester, VA to clean rugs in my home. Initially, the charge presented was in the amount of $226 for the basic cleaning, however, when the two cleaners showed up they suggested a variety of options to which I acquiesced. The charge I agreed to was $457.92 which subsequently became $486.54.

      Stay away from these people. They prey on seniors. There is so much fast talk (they want to sell you everything) to make a fast buck. From the two fast talkers who initially came, a third entered the picture and what ensued was a three-ring circus. My husband sensed a scamming and advised me to ask these three to leave the house. It's a good thing I did. I cancelled a subsequent service I got talked into. Here's my advice. These folks will come to you with a low price and gouge a much higher fee from you for their services. They want to sell you deodorizers (which, by the way, had no positive effect at all, wasted money) and multiple options to clean your entire house which you may not need. Be wary of them.

      My request to refund the additional $28.62 added on later (which no doubt was the gratuity the two that worked in the house wanted) was denied as a bill explaining services was sent to me without offer to refund that small amount of money. Let's see what a letter to the corporate office of Stanley Steemer in Dublin, Ohio garners. I would imagine nothing as these franchises operate with their own rules.

      STAY AWAY FROM THIS FRANCHISE or you will be burned like I did.
