On November 9, 2023, I left with Miller Carpet (********************************************) a fine quality wool rug (about 5x7) for cleaning. It was a gift from a friend. Although the rug was in excellent physical condition, an animal (one of my friends dogs or cat?) had apparently urinated on it in my friends absence. Consequently, the rug needed to be deodorized and cleaned.Ike Miller at Miller Carpet assured me that it would be done without difficulty, and the rug would be returned to me the following week at a cleaning charge of $200. After waiting several weeks to hear from ***, I telephoned him and left a message. There was no return call. I then visited his shop a week or more later, which is, incidentally, near my apartment. He then told me that the rug was destroyed by accident at the plant (before or during cleaning?).He assured me that his wife was looking into the matter, and he would get back with me on some settlement price within the week. Again, no response. Since the holidays were approaching, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years, I waited until after the holidays to contact him again. I then left him two phone messages in January. No return calls.About a week afterwards, I visited the shop for an update. He promised me during my visit to provide me with a settlement within a few days. And again, no response. I knew then that he was either too busy to give the matter his attention or too disinterested to serve me. To convince him of my seriousness, I had my attorney send him a letter. The certified letter to his company was signed February 2, 2024 (by ***** Miller?). To date, no one has responded with a settlement.I would appreciate it if you would post my complaint to Miller Carpets on my behalf to warn others of the company's negligence. Thank you.
