    I received an invoice for over $700 for “landscaping and paving” from this company. It took several days to reach them. Finally the woman who sent the invoice told me their company used to own the property and when we bought the house last year as a Reno/flip, they forgot to cancel the lawn service. I explained that the yard has no grass and is full of binder blocks, so it’s highly doubtful the work was ever done. She insisted it was. I told her that none of the dates listed on the invoice had any corresponding proof on my video security feed. At any rate, the real issue is she tried to get us to pay for the service that was not cancelled (or done). We had not signed a contract and knew nothing about this service. Her words were “it was worth a shot.” I told her I wanted to speak to her boss and she said, “this is as high as you are going to get.” I asked if she owned it, and she said she was it. Shame on her. When she told me that this situation was because of “confusion” I told her that I felt it was more like extortion- that nowhere on her invoice did she say my paying was optional. In fact, the last line said, “Thank you got your cooperation and understanding.” It is a suspicious practice and many innocent people are probably victimized by this. Keep in mind that we NEVER got a bill until December. I think that this company, or maybe this employee, intentionally tried to have me fork over $719 for a lawn service that was never done and, most importantly, to which we never agreed. Beware of this group of thieves.
