They have no empathy regarding our VETERANS!!! I booked a surprise trip for my husband labor day weekend. Yes, I will take responsibility for booking a non refundable stay. However, unfortunately around June we found out my husband needed surgery through the VA ******** in *******. Upon scheduling surgery we were told his wound was going to be stitched closed and he'd be back to normal in a few weeks. Sadly that is the exact opposite of what happened, they left the wound open to heal from the inside out and sent him home the same day, only to end up being transported via emergency services to a different hospital that evening due to excessive bleeding (puddles). Ended up having 2 blood transfusions and taking a surgeon to stop the bleeding before they'd release him again. In the midst of all this happening you can only imagine my mind being chaotic and overwhelmed....Naturally I was taking care of my disabled veteran before worrying about a reservation. The following week he started getting home health care nurses that come in 3 times a week, obviously making him unable to travel. I originally booked my stay through Hotels.com so I reached out to them and explained the situation, asked if we could reschedule to a later date after he could travel but they said I'd lose my reward night that I used and ultimately end up paying more. I explained I couldn't afford anything else right now and they recommended I cancel. I asked if there could be a one time exception/refund due to the circumstances and was advised they'd need to contact the Hotel and get approval. They called but there wasn't a manager on site and was advised to call back today. I personally called today and spoke to ****** who was of no help at all even though I advised I could/would provide all medically necessary documents to support my request. This was a MEDICAL EMERGENCY situation and we're extremely disappointed due to the circumstances they're basically ROBBING a DISABLED because of greed!!!
