Hometown Garage Door charged me $1,185 for a ***** ****** conversion to a standard torsion spring on a double door, a job (I found out later) which should have cost $350-400.
"Price, Professionalism, and Peace of Mind" their website says. "We try to ensure you get a fair price for your repair." Is $1,185 a fair price???

The customer called us on Saturday December 2nd, 2023 to look at her door. It was loud and wouldn't close. She said that she could have gotten it done for $350.00-400.00. For a ***** ****** **** ******, yes you could get a new one for around that price, but for a regular torsion conversion which includes a new shaft, 2 springs, set of drums, set a cables, set of end bearing plates, a center bearing, a center plate and misc hardware plus the service call and labor charges, the price that we gave the customer would be correct. The customer did sign and agree to the $1185.00 amount and also gave the technician a 20.00 tip. We understand the importance of transparency and fair pricing, and we sincerely apologize for any confusion or frustration you may have experienced.
After further investigation, we acknowledge the agreed-upon price before starting the work.
