About This Business

US Live Express indicates on it's website that it offers shipping to customers wishing to purchase a pet. On May 23, BBB received information from a customer complaint stating they purchased a puppy online and were instructed to wire $350 to James Condolon Reed and pay additional funds for insurance. According to the complaint, the company stated to the customer that they would receive a refund of $200 once the pet was delivered. The customer has indicated they were not made aware of having to pay for insurance, has not received their pet and is requesting a refund or the delivery of the puppy.

The website indicates the company is located in Ashland, Virginia, but BBB has been unable to verify that information. According to website domain search, the website was created on March 7, 2016.

BBB warns customers of purchasing a pet online, especially when the only method of payment is Western Union or wire transfer. More often than not, the puppy does not exist. Before purchasing a puppy, read the following tips:

  1. Make sure you speak with the breeder, ask and verify references before sending money. Ask if the breeder is a member of an American Kennel Club-affiliated club and contact the club yourself to verify.
  2. Unless you can visit the breeding facility before the purchase, we urge customers to not purchase from a website. You are not sure how the puppy has been treated, how healthy or young it is, or if the puppy exists at all.
  3. Pay by credit card that way you can file a dispute if you do not receive your pet. Once you pay by money order, wire transfer, or cash your chances of a refund are lower.
  4. Ask for the breeder to take a picture next to the puppy with today's date and your name on a piece of paper.
  5. Do a Google Image Search to see if the picture of the puppy has been used on other websites before.
