I just lost a year's subscription. Tried searching for family members in the last few years and nothing came up. Found out if I even searched once I couldn't get a refund.Newspaperarchive.com

Thank you for reaching out. I am sorry to hear that you have had some challenges in searching for the items you are looking for and have cancelled your subscription - especially as you have had subscriptions with us for over 10 years. Has supposedly become Storied News. I cannot access the site. But every month they charge me $5.25. Have found no way to contact any members of this organization. I think it is a scam.Newspaperarchive.com

Hello ****,We're sorry to hear you've received an unexpected charge! The charge stems from a subscription to the ************ ********** Record under your ************************ account. We've previously reached out via email to provide support, however we have not heard back from you. We'll continue to reach out to follow up with you, however we just wanted to ensure you were aware of the charge's source. Regardless, the subscription has been stopped in the meantime to prevent further charges while we resolve your request. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please reach out to us at ****************************************** and we'll do our best to assist you.Review fromLoren K

Poor website and an expensive site at that. Newspapers.com and ************** are half the price and are sites that are workable. There have been many times when I have tried to access a newspaper and a message would pop up saying, "Content Unavailable". I left myself a note to cancel my subscription in August and did so, but the cancel button seemed to "freeze". I actually couldn't access my credit card info to delete my card. I thought that would be okay as my card expiration date had expired a few months earlier and so a renewal date couldn't be processed. But! This company somehow found a way to get around that. When I contacted customer service to say my cancellation didn't go through and I wanted the charges reversed, they said that I was 5 days past their cancellation policy. I can't stand companies that are so greedy, they can't stand behind their products or customers and just do what's right. Luckily, my credit card company stood behind me and reversed this fraudulent charge.Newspaperarchive.com

Hello *****, we're sorry to hear you've had a poor experience with us! We try our best to provide a stable and consistent service, and your feedback is critical in improving that service should we not meet the ***** While I have passed along your feedback, I did review your account and I would like to provide some clarification regarding our refund policy in regards to it. The subscription renewed on 8/26/2023 and your cancellation request was received on 10/3/2023, which would be outside of our refund period by about 31 days (we offer a 7 Day refund period on renewal purchases). While we sympathize with your frustration, we do have a limit on the length of time in which a refund can be submitted and we do our best to remain within that period. If we may be of any additional assistance, please let us know at ****************************************** and we'll do our best to assist you.Review fromWilliam K

Had been a subscriber for 3 years. Have not been able to view a paper since Oct. 5. Phone number doesn't work. No response to e-mail. But they did take my $100+ on Oct. 10. Very frustrated and disappointed.Newspaperarchive.com

SCAM SCAM SCAM I would have to echo the words of others below in that I wish I could give less than 1 star. The scenario is similar: I initiated the 7-day trial and received a bill without any notification that the trial period was over. I also see that my subscription is cancelled and they still would not issue a credit. The bank confirmed that only the merchant can issue a credit. There is no way to speak to someone by phone (another bad sign) to convey that I am NOT interested in this service and would simply like a credit for the full amount. As with others, I am stuck with a charge for $166.21 and a canceled membership. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this company! See other reviews and notice a shared theme.Newspaperarchive.com

Hello ******, we're sorry to hear you had a poor experience with us! We've reviewed your complaint as well as your account and would like to offer some context, our perspective, and the solution we can offer you.First and foremost, we would mention we send renewal reminders one week prior to a subscription's renewal. In the case of our 7 Day Free Trial the trial length is seven days, so you're informed of your trials renewal when purchasing the trial and on your order confirmation received via email. I'll pass along your feedback internally regarding how our trial works, however we do try our best to ensure you're informed of your free trial's length and renewal date when signing up.Furthermore, we have been in contact with you regarding your refund request via email. You issued a dispute for the charge so your bank pulled that charge amount while they reviewed the case you opened. Unfortunately, a dispute can take months to resolve and we won't know the status of the case (whether we won or lost) until the very end. In your instance we should be informed of your bank's decision by May 16th, and if it should be decided in our favor then we would receive the funds your bank pulled at that time as well. If the bank has decided in our favor then your bank would be correct in informing you that we are now the source for your refund, however as I've mentioned we won't officially be notified (or see the funds in question) until May 16th.While we sympathize with your frustration regarding the situation as it stands, we cannot offer any immediate solution and would need to wait until the May 16th date. If you would like to reach out to us at that time, we would be happy to assist you with your account and review the eligibility for a refund at that time.If you have any further questions or concerns, please reach out to us at ****************************************** and we would be happy to assist you to the best of our abilities.Review fromPatrice S

I have been trying to contact someone to cancel my 'free 7 day trial'. It wasn't free and I don't want the service. I literally signed up less than an hour ago. Once I was in, I realized it isn't what I needed and thought it would be easy to cancel. However, every time I try to sign in I get an error message saying they are having trouble signing me in and to try again. I've tried repeatedly and cannot get in. I just want my money back. I haven't used this service and don't plan to do so. This 7 day free trial is very misleading and an outright lie. This is definitely a scam. I would give zero stars if I could.Newspaperarchive.com

Hello *******,We're sorry to hear you had a poor experience with our services! I'd be happy to review your case and assist you.I reviewed your account and it looks like you signed up under a **************** email address which is your ******************** email address with a fairly major typo of four missing characters. You then created a proper account under your ******************** email address, though there is no active subscription under it and is currently only setup to send you promotional emails and newsletters. Your **************** account has a 7 Day Free Trial that hasn't charged yet and isn't due to charge until Apr 4, **** at 3:47 PM CDT as per the terms of your subscription. I reviewed your billing information and you haven't received any charge under the card you used to setup your 7 Day Free Trial, so unless you started a third subscription with new billing information under another name, I would surmise you haven't actually been charged as you claimed and our 7 Day Free Trial has been provided as advertised and shown. If you have received a charge, please reach out to our customer service at ****************************************** and we would be happy to assist you in locating the source of that charge and reviewing your options with the account. In the meantime, I've closed your **************** account so you won't receive a charge given you mentioned not wanting the service. If we can provide any additional clarification or assistance, please let us know by sending us an email at ****************************************** and we'll do our best to assist you.Review fromKristen J

The landing page advertises a free-trial, but that is only if you subscribe to the 6-month or annual plan. I thought I was signing up for a free-trial to the monthly subscription plan, but when I realized I'd been charged right away, I cancelled my subscription and tried to get a refund via their chat bot. I got an email response that they don't offer refunds in any circumstances for monthly trials. I had only signed up 15 minutes prior to submitting my support ticket. I didn't even use the service, nor do I want to anymore, but they refuse to refund me.Newspaperarchive.com

Hello *******, we're sorry to hear you had a poor experience with our services! As you've noted we do not offer a 7 Day Free Trial on our Monthly plan which is why you received that immediate charge. Monthly subscription purchases are ineligible for a refund according to our Terms and Services agreement, however we do sympathize with your situation. We'll be reaching out to you to see how we may best assist you with your account moving forward. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please reach out to us at ****************************************** and we'll do our best to assist you.Review fromDANIEL S

Content is there (for my area), but the website is terrible. It is very slow compared to every other website I visit. The search function flakes out A LOT. Sometimes it gives you options for keywords, other times you get one option. It's show a page and then you click it and occasionally it will say search term not found. The saving feature works about 50% of the time. You can't right click to open in a new window. you click an article it opiees, then you have to go back and find the next one. I prefer opining a bunch at a time, finding what I need then continuer the search. I contacted support and they just said to clear my cache and cookies. Just poorly designed for the price.Newspaperarchive.com

Hello ******, we're sorry to hear you're having issues utilizing our services! We'd love to continue troubleshooting the issues with you as our request of clearing your cookies and cache is a general first step we recommend before diving into a more technical investigation. Given we already have an open line of communication via email, we'll continue to follow up there if you are interested in working towards a potential resolution. For any other questions or feedback, please reach out to us at ****************************************** and we'll do our best to assist you.Review fromLowell S

I think they are crooks and they will not be around if they don't change their ways. Automatically charging annually without notice.Newspaperarchive.com
Date: 02/13/2023
Hello ******, we're sorry to hear you had a poor experience with us! Annual subscriptions should receive an automatic renewal notice via email one week prior to you receiving a renewal charge. It sounds like there may be an issue with how you're receiving our emails. Please check your SPAM folder and any filters you might have on. Additionally, please reach out to us at ****************************************** and we'd be happy to work with you in resolving that issue and investigating it further.Review fromPeter K.

DON'T TRUST YOUR CREDIT CARD WITH THESE CROOKS!What a miserable, dishonest company this is! They auto renewal subscriptions without notice, without advising of what cost or even providing a receipt. Totally dishonest... all they want are your credit card details to profit by. Absolutely the WORST website experience I have had. AVOID!!Newspaperarchive.com

Hello *****, we're sorry to hear you had a poor experience with us! We try our best to ensure you're fully aware of how our subscriptions work before subscribing, whether by making available the terms of our services prior to purchase or by having our pricing and renewal options confirmed during checkout. It sounds like there may have been a communication issue as we do send renewal notices via email for standard subscription renewals and an order confirmation for your first subscription purchase (this reconfirms your selected plan and renewal date so all relevant information is available once more moving forward). Receipts for any renewals and purchases entirely are also sent via email. Sometimes these emails can end up in spam filters or junk folders, so it can be very important to check those frequently. Additionally, if you would please reach out to us at our customer service email address, we'd be happy to follow up with you to see what potentially went wrong and how we can rectify it. Regardless we appreciate you reaching out and getting in contact with [email protected]Peter K.

Thank you for the reply And NO... no messages from your company either on the subscription renewal coming up or that it would be twice as expensive as the previous year or a receipt when you put through my charge without my authorization.No.. it did not going into "Spam" either. They were never sent. And I have contacted "customer service" three times on this... yesterday I was told that if you dispute these dishonest practices, Newspaperarchives.com keeps your money and.... cancels your subscription.... it's your little "punishment" for daring to object this abjectly dishonest business practices.Read the other reviews of Newspaperarchives.com.... mine is not an isolated case. This is how they do business... and worse, get away with it.
