On June 7, 2022, BBB contacted the business regarding advertised comparisons of the reduction of prices from the original price on their products on their website https://www.zincpoint.com.
BBB Code of Advertising states when comparing products for sale in comparison with a business’s own former selling price the former price must be the actual price at which the advertiser has openly and actively offered the product or service for sale, for a reasonably substantial period of time, in the recent, regular course of business, honestly and good faith.
BBB Code of Advertising also states offering prices, as distinguished from actual former selling prices, may be used to deceptively imply savings. In the event few or no sales were made at the advertised comparative price, the advertiser must make sure that the higher price does not exceed the advertiser’s usual and customary retail markup for similar products or services.
BBB requested Zinc Point Manufacturing to substantiate the items marked down on their website were sold at the original advertised price. Additionally, BBB requested if the discounted price is the current price of items sold on the website discontinue advertising the former price in comparison to the current price the item is being sold to address our concern.
As of December 16, Zinc Point Manufacturing failed to substantiate, modify or discontinue the concerning advertisements.
