Since February 2014, the BBB Houston & South Texas has received disputes that exhibit the following pattern.
Consumers will purchase a product such as name brand headphones through Living Social or Groupon. These products will be advertised at greatly reduced prices over retail. After purchasing, the consumer is contacted by The Sunshine Kitty letting them know that they no longer are offering this special product through these discount sites. The consumer however is offered the same deal and pricing direct through The Sunshine Kitty.
According to consumer disputes, it has been alleged, that The Sunshine Kitty is charging consumer’s credit card and not delivering the merchandise. Consumer’s have stated they have been unable to contact the company regarding the status of the order and/or a refund. The BBB of Houston has reached out to the company and has been unsuccessful in speaking with anyone. It has been further discovered that the phone number listed for customer service is no longer in service.
Update: Sunshine Kitty has contacted one consumer and stated that they should seek a refund through their credit card company as their merchant account had crashed. However it must be noted that the Sunshine Kitty website is still working and accepting orders. The BBB has reached out the Sunshine Kitty for a statement regarding this latest information but as of this posting there has been no response.
Living Social provided the following statement: "LivingSocial is no longer working with The Sunshine Kitty."
