The persons at this office made promises they do not keep. They keep using the weather as an excuse. We had to pay money upfront to get the grading and footers started however, it has been seven weeks since we give them cash. They implied that the work would begin immediately and could not be started until cash was paid. When a cashiers check was given to them, they didn’t even deposit it for a week so this was another delay. We were told that if we got our order in by January, we should be in our home by the end of April or 1st of May. The footers haven’t even been poured yet!! We tried calling customer advocacy, and all they did was call the Kingsport office and repeat to us the same thing that we had been told, ie: they were waiting on the weather. Our home is paid for and has been sitting on the lot for over a month. Due to their delay, and the fact that our previous house has sold, we have had to pay to stay in our house. Unfortunately, we are still weeks away from the Doublewide being set and are having to now live with a relative and are having to move our possessions twice. While the management blames the weather, I can attest to the fact that there have been numerous days that work could be done. Because it’s raining in Kingsport doesn’t mean it’s raining in Bristol. We are extremely unhappy with Clayton mobile homes, and would not recommend anyone doing business with them. We have been misguided, misdirected and heard excuses until we are sick of dealing with this office. If we had it to do over again, we would go somewhere else or pick another option!Clayton Homes, Inc.

Hi Vicky, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We want you to have a positive experience during this process, and we apologize for any frustrations while getting ready to be in your new home. We had to wait on permits and inspections in order to move forward with the build, which made some delays. We are pushing out our contractors as quickly as possible. If you have any further concerns, please reach out to our team at Clayton of Kingsport.Review fromsuzanne r

We purchased a Clayton homes 211 in 2020 paid in full. Took forever to get the home due to Covid. The first year the breaker for the ac melted due to bad wiring. We could run the microwave and electric skillet at the same time in the kitchen without tripping a breaker. Toilet leaked in the spare bathroom and tub. Ruined the floor. Took 2 times to get it fixed. Roof leaked in multiple places. The ac never cooled the house and heat didnt heat the back half of the house. So the 2 bedrooms and den were always hot or cold. The hot water heater went out the 2nd year. It wasn't installed properly and water was dripping down on the wiring. 2024 first of January our house went up in flames while we were out of state. None of the wiring was in conduits and was exposed. The rafters were 2x2 if that. Cheap particle board in the entire house. The bathtub in spare bedroom that wouldn't drain all the way was cross threaded and floor was rotten underneath. The ac and heat on the 2nd part of the house wasn't hooked up so the air wasn't getting to the rest of the house. We were told that if we would have been home it would have killed 3 of us if not all. The house was not up to code was cheaply made and we lost everything. Almost lost our lives. I have never seen such a poorly made house with the cheapest quality of materials. The siding wouldn't stay on. Was only stapled in few spots. We had to fix that multiple times. The vinyl flooring ripped so easily and was just laminated wood for all the cabinets. We had the worked time trying to get stuff fixed. No one inspected the house. The group putting it together was not supervised. They were smoking in the house and around it. Our youngest has asthma and allergic to cigarette smoke, we asked them not to smoke in it or around it. They didn't care. Worst experience we ever had. We ended fixing the roof ourselves after the first year. Biggest regret we have was buying this house. We lost everything because the company made it cheap.Clayton Homes, Inc.

I sent multiple emails and have not had anyone contact me back. I had numerous pictures and emails for the dealer we bought the house from. It was the worse investment we ever made. We almost lost our entire family due to a house that was built under code and as cheap as possible. The homes are not saf3Review fromjared L

I purchased a home in 2020 from Clayton homes. A modular home with a price tag of $250,000 paid in full. I was told this home was better than stick built and sold a dream. Since it was installed I have had nothing but problems and zero help. I purchased a “protection plan” which was a waste of money. My home started getting cracks in the ceiling where you could see light through the walls from room to room. Upon that being looked at I was told it was not covered basically they don’t care. I had that fixed myself as they told me it was “settling” on a spot a home was for 100 years prior to mine. When they sent someone out to take photos the guy told me Clayton homes owns the company that I bought insurance and protection plan from and good luck having anything done. When I paid to have the settling fixed we found that the adjacent joist that should join the house down the middle is not joined at the front end. I have never had such a terrible experience. There were NO inspections prior to me moving in nobody checked anything how could they of? I had to complain to have mud cleaned out of carpets before move in that was the one thing they did fix. Please don’t waste your money with Clayton homes.Clayton Homes, Inc.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, Fatima. Your home was out of warranty on 4/22/23. Items mentioned about water getting inside was addressed and we paid to have gutters installed on the home. Floors has been worked on twice with once home being out of warranty. These items would need to be further maintained by the homeowner. Thank you.Review fromKristine G.

Beyond Disappointed with Clayton Homes . I had recently experienced a roof leak on a home that had been purchased new less than 8 years ago . I had over 4 different roof inspectors come out to look at my roof to assess repairs and they all have stated that the roof was poorly installed and that all issues were due to that poor install . I have reached out to Clayton Homes to help to mitigate this problem and they have refused to help . These homes are very poor quality and they are obviously not following code regulations or any type of quality standard. Sharing this to hopefully help others from the same problem .Clayton Homes, Inc.

Hi Kristine, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. Clayton Homes strives to provide a world-class customer experience. Our homes provide a 1-year manufacturer's warranty to address structural issues. We only keep home records for 7 years. We would recommend sending in the adjustor's report in order for us to review. Please email ********************************* with your home's information and report.Kristine G.

I have already submitted the inspection report to ********************************* and they are claiming this was due to not completing an annual maintenance on my roof and because of wind damage?? The non-biased inspector clearly shows and states that the issues are due to a poor install. First, when have you ever heard of home owners going onto their roof to complete a yearly maintenance??? This is not an RV, this is a roof that is supposed to hold up for 20 years. Also, they mentioned that the shingles are due to wind damage which is absolutely wrong... there are several several pictures showing where the nails were improperly hammered either too much or not enough. I have four various reports that all state that this was due to an improper install. Clayton needs to mitigate this issue ... Please let me know who I can speak to discuss this. I now need to replace my roof which will cost $9K.Review fromHailey M

Me and my husband purchased a clayton/vanderbilt home from Harold ky back in may 2024, we received our home in nov 2024. Since getting our BRAND NEW house we have had nothing but issues. It all started with multiple holes in our flooring throughout the whole entire house that was caused from clayton workers dropping tools etc causing the floor to tear. When we brought this issue to Clayton’s attention they blew it off like it wasn’t a big deal even though if that was left untreated it could have caused water damage down the road. After fighting for a solution they finally agreed to offer us a settlement to replace our flooring which we did ourselves btw and it didn’t even cover the full cost! So after WE had to refloor our brand new house we finally got our water hooked up, just to add to the stress our brand new hot water was busted and flooded our laundry room, this issue was later resolved thanks to Rheem for replacing our hot water heater. Fast forward to us being able to move in we come to find out our stove does not work due to wiring issues by clayton AND our thermostat constantly reboots so who knows if the wiring is correct to that (fire hazard) so now I have a brand new stove I can not use AND our brand new fridge that has not even been used is tore up and we are currently fighting with clayton & samsung both to get that replaced even though it is under warranty!! Don’t even get me started on the cosmetic issues and the fact we can’t even use the guest bathroom bc the shower leaks into the extra bedroom, PLUS my husband has fixed 3 other water leaks in diff locations throughout the house bc we had been waiting for two months for them. Buying your first home is suppose to be a great experience and clayton claims to be one of the best and this has been nothing but a nightmare, I would never recommend anyone to buy a home from them. This house is brand new, and we spent $140,000 on what? a headache. Me and my husband should not be having these issues.Clayton Homes, Inc.

Hi Hailey, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We spoke with the retailer, and their office received a call from *** ******** ******* about some scuffs on his flooring, he said it appeared to be traveled on excessively, causing dents/ and tears and asked for vinyl floor being replaced. The retailer then sent pictures and info to the factory for factory service. Factory offered a settlement agreement for vinyl flooring to be replaced in several of the rooms. This customer even spoke with the factory about the settlement before agreeing to sign. The retailer let us know that they had service scheduled for these items 3/14/25. Please let us know if you need further assistance.Review fromCorey Y

I’m a customer of Clayton homes and it’s sad that I paid for this overpriced single wide trailer that was built TERRIBLY. I have water seeping through window seals no caulking on my tub so my wall in bathroom and bedroom has been soaked and now looks terrible. Our ceiling has cracked and continue to get worse because it wasn’t plotted correctly. The holes where I piping goes through the house all have huge gaps in them where they poorly insulated my house. Our furnace closet is poorly sealed they used pieces of dry wall for patchwork. I have spray foam insulation that wasn’t used properly at all, all over my house. I was told these issues would be fixed and they would call and schedule me out. No one called no one came. I will NEVER be a customer with Clayton homes again. I will never recommend them to anyone either. 70,000$ of my own money for a POORLY built home.Clayton Homes, Inc.
