I lived at one of the complexes for years and it was horrible. They do not fix anything. They do not return calls and treat people with disrespect. There were squatters in the complex and they just told me as long as they were not to loud just let them be. Laundry machines were broke and never got fixed. The entry doors were broken for years and they would say they would fix them and not do it. They should not be in business. Just because there are people with low-incomes they must think its ok to treat them ugly.

Costello Property Management has been a nightmare for me and my family. We are not residents of Costello, but a directly neighboring apartment complex. Since I started my lease with my apartment complex, Costello's residents, 3-6 times per day, use my dedicated section of my apartment to take shortcuts to the gas station and liquor store. I have absolutely zero privacy in my home and i cant even be naked in my own home. I have politely asked the property management at Stonebridge Apartments, managed by Costello, to cease this activity but was met with the utmost and surprising level of unprofessionalism. The Property Manager at Stonebridge cursed at me, yelled at me, and informed me it was my dog that was causing these problems. My dog is on a lease in my dedicated section of property. I furthermore reached out to Costello Property Management's "HQ" in Sioux Falls to see if they could cease this activity, but was met to no avail. If they have been this much of a nightmare for my family, I cant imagine what it would be like for a resident of theirs.

I rented my first apartment which was amazing. I then needed 3 bedrooms and moved to a property within Costello. The back story is I only saw the unit 1 time a month before move in, day of move in no walk through inspection with property manager. The unit was gross food splattered on every surface, garbage in every vent, every door knob with a lock was pried open with a screwdriver and has sharp edges, the 1 room for my daughter smelled horrendous, and was not usable for a month, my fridge was actually foul underneath, the carpet on the stairs smelled like wet dog. I tried communicating with them about all of this they did send out a cleaning crew that were confused why they were even here, did a basic clean, while I still cleaned the disgusting things just to use them that i have pictures of. after a second carpet cleaning it still smelled and they finally came out to smell it for themselves and finally believed me. a third cleaning crew came and definitely did a deeper clean and the first couple of days it did not smell but here i am now again with the same smell thats getting all my daughters stuff to smell. i asked for a discount since i was the one who cleaned the nasty stuff as well as not being able to use one of the rooms and my daughter sleep on the floor of my room and was told just “no”. super unprofessional and cant wait to get out of here.

I'm not sure if it is the company Costello or the current property manager that has been the nightmare. Nor do I know if Costello or regional manager knows the truth about what the property manager has done and continues to do. Including coming at me physically as I was sitting in dirt with their finger in my face shaking it and threatening me with multiple things. I kept notes through the first past year and regarding the property manager. They refused to do 1 work order, never said anything about the Home Program that I had never heard of and the only said was everyone is on a month to month lease after first year. I had never heard of such a thing, and first year talking and signing paperwork, I was never told of the Home Program (never signed any documents), property manager was told by more than myself that I was looking for a longer term, especially more than 1 yr. When the year was up, property manager force (due to fearful state they had me in after coming at me illegally, threats throughout first year, talking to other tenants about me, when I calling in first work orders she asked if it was going to actually affect the quality of my life, another work orders she blamed me for. I asked them to knock a wasp nest down because I had to have EPI pen just to make it to hospital, they refused & told me that was nature God made it. First few days when they were here they stood at front door & multiple strang looking bugs came in. They also said, "God made them". Continually I reported wasps getting in my place and vehicle & so many diverse bugs or the damage that was being done and I didn't even have furniture, so I new it wasn't me. My electric bill has been abt 3x higher than neighbors and I have not once used the stove. The electric company is still trying to figure out. Property manager has also refused to seal windows, doors and the protective guard that goes on bottom of door. Bugs, wading pool of water in kitchen 1 morning & heating/cooling outside.
