Their error not mine . Now I am being hounded by a credit agency for delinquent payments . What the heck

Without knowing the specifics of this particular case, we do offer the following. Upon registration, all patients complete paperwork that informs them that they will be responsible for paying for all services not covered by insurance. All patients also sign that they have been informed and given information on their ability to apply for our sliding scale discount, something that roughly half of all of our patients qualify for. This is kept in their medical record.

All patients - insured or not - can apply and qualify for our sliding scale based on their income level and family size.
This is posted in our clinics, on our website, and is inherent in what a community health center does.

All patients can apply at any time to our sliding scale program. All are informed at registration that they have 10 days past their day of service to provide any financial documentation necessary to determine their income level (paystubs, tax returns, etc.). Patients that fail to apply for the sliding scale or those that do not meet the income guidelines are responsible for the full market rate of their service.

Patients that fail to make any effort to pay their outstanding balances are routinely be sent to a collections agency, unless other arrangements have been made. We recognize that health care bills are challenging and so we routinely work with patients to offer payment plan agreements that extend well beyond a normal time period and will continue to work with patients in assisting them in paying for their health care - so long as they continue to work with us and maintain their payment plan agreement. Otherwise, like all businesses, we will move to the stages of collection.

Regardless, all patients are welcome to return to us for services and can always apply for our sliding scale.

We are unclear if this individual has spoken with our Billing Department regarding any of this, but would encourage them to call and address any questions they may have directly: **************. Thanks.
