Truly terrible tenant experience. Rented from them for a year and have nothing good to say about the company. We had a massive leak from underneath our fridge during the first month and when calling in to get it fixed after hours (it was friday night) I got an enormous amount of attitude and pushback about getting it fixed and absolutely no urgency. We therefore had to wait for 5 days with an inch of water in our kitchen until they sent somebody out to fix it. There was also an appliance that was built into the kitchen that didn't work since our move in. I put in several work orders about it where I was told that they would send a repairman out to fix it, then they told us they would replace it, and then after 6 months of inaction they told us that it isn't included in the lease and therefore they wouldn't be replacing it and threatened to freeze our work order portal if we kept asking about it. This was after 6 MONTHS of telling us they were working on it. Upon requesting that they remove the appliance as it was in the way and we would like to utilize the space it took up we were told that we weren't allowed to remove it and that they wouldn't do it for us either even though it wasn't a part of our lease and therefore had no reason to be in our house in the first place. Overall a terrible company that is slow to assist customers (never able to get through to them on the phone) and genuinely has disgusting customer experience and care for the tenants AND THE PROPERTIES that they are tasked with managing. If I were a homeowner I would never use them as they are so disinterested in maintaining the properties they own, and the only reason the house we rented didn't have serious water damage was because I was so persistent with their entitled and rude staff.

Aldan lives in one of our student units in downtown Charleston. Aldan's mention of a massive frig leak with an inch of water in the floor for 5 days is so far from the truth and is a major exaggeration. He called our after hours call center on the 13th of August and Rooterman Plumbing arrived at the property on the morning of the 14th to find very little water on the floor. Rooterman turned the water valve off at the back of frig and our appliance repair company arrived on the 18th of August to repair the frig valve. Rooterman called Scott Properties after this service call and stated "I'm not sure why he reported a lot of water in the floor because there was little to no water in the floor when we arrived". Secondly, the appliance we aren't going to replace or repair that Aldan is referring to is an under counter wine frig....not a stove, refrigerator, dishwasher or microwave but a wine frig. I think Aldan considers a wine frig an essential to live, but it's not and for this reason we aren't required to repair or replace it. For this reason and many others, Scott Properties made the decision not to renew Aldan's lease agreement for another year. Aldan isn't happy about us not repairing or replacing the wine frig but the property owners are ecstatic about the property management services we have provided to them for the last three years.

We have been living in our house for about 8 months I have loved everything about the house and service! They are quick to address our concerns and contact us when they are sending someone out to do maintenance and the application process was so fast and they were easy to talk to. I actively recommend my friends to use Scott properties because of the positive experiences I have gone through with them.

We were a tenant for 1.5 years. The stove that was onsite was defective and we were told by Scott Properties that we would have to pay to fix the stove to the tune of $800. I then called the manufacturer and found that this type of range had many service calls for the same issue we had encountered but that is was under warranty and they would make the repairs free of charge. We had to act as the property management company to track down the information, set up service calls and ultimately have the defective stove fixed.

We vacated the property and did a walk through with one of their team members as scheduled. We were then charged rent for the next month to the tune of $4000. We notified them of their mistake via email and phone. Almost 3 weeks passed and we had to contact the home owner to have him reach out to the property management company for them to fix their mistake and refund our monies. No rush on their part, and their staff was very rude.

The final straw was receiving an email stating that we were entitled to a full refund of our security deposit. By law they have 30 days to make this payment to the tenant. Instead of the security deposit refund check being mailed the day they sent us an email stating we were entitled to a full refund, which was sent to us 30 days after we vacated, the company waited another 4 days before dropping the check in the mail.

      Beware of this company!

I'd like to thank Gina with Scotts Property for explaining what happened with the lawn violation. My frustrated was directed at the wrong agency. Since I am a renter, I do not get the violations and Scott Properties don't issue the violations. I've had zero problems since moving here in 2020. Scott Properties always provided me with great customer service so I should have known better. I apologize for the previous comment and thank you Gina for getting back to me in a timely manner. Great Team of professionals at Scotts Propertis of the Midlands

If I had to do it over again I wouldn’t use Scott Properties a second time to manage our home. Nor would I recommend them to others. I realize property managers are not in complete control of tenants so I will carefully stick to only a couple of things within Scott Properties’ control for this review. Very specifically, Scott Properties did an extremely poor job of communicating with us as owners. Only one example: they filed an eviction notice to our tenants for failing to pay rent. Scott Properties never informed us about the eviction and we just never got paid that month. When we called to get information, they never told us they filed eviction. We found out months later by accident. Scott Properties also did a poor job on some repairs in our very nice house. We were thousands of miles away thanks to the Army and trusted their “handy man” to make his repairs and return the house to its original condition. In one case, he cut a large hole into the drywall and rather than patching and repainting it, he screwed a large, ugly, unpainted metal plate over the hole. In another case, he took the deadbolt and doorknob off the front door after we asked for it to be re-keyed. He instead replaced them with a cheap and flimsy set that didn’t even cover the unpainted sections of the door. After 5 years of working with Scott Properties, we decided to sell this house, again while assigned away from SC. Our realtor, acting on our behalf, also had many complaints about trying to work with Scott Properties and will not recommend them to any one either.
