I was not made aware that this was a line of credit when signing up for this place, I lost my job and assumed that upon non payment I wouldn’t have access to my classes and that was that, I never finished the courses, never received my diploma from these people and yet now they want over a thousand dollars and have reported this to the credit bureaus, this place is a scam

Dear Ethan E****** Thank you for taking the time to provide a review about Penn Foster. We welcome all feedback and use each and every suggestion to improve our student’s experience. We would like to add that each and every student situation is different, and we would like to treat them independently as Penn Foster is devoted to the educational advancement and satisfaction of all our students. We were unable to locate an account with the email address you provided. Per each enrollment agreement, students agree to make monthly payments if they choose not to pay in full at the time of enrollment. The enrollment agreement’s Late Payment section states that defaulted payments can result in suspension of the enrollment and require the student to pay the outstanding balance of the program price associated with the payment plan chosen. In addition, the student would be responsible for any collection costs, including legal fees, incurred by Penn Foster to collect amounts owed. Per the enrollment agreement, students need to submit a cancelation request to withdraw from the program. Cancelation terms can be located on the enrollment agreement and at ************************************************************. Thank You Andrew K******* Sr Escalation Specialist

Penn Foster is a terrible school. I was working to the best of my ability and despite my best efforts, the teachers weren't satisfied. They constantly sent the work back for me to improve and then resubmit. They did this over and over again. So I dropped the program because I didn't want to constantly be held back. Once I dropped the program they said since I was over 50% done with the semester I owe over $1700. This is ridiculous.

Penn Foster has been the school I go to since 2013, graduating from their high school program in 2014 & also their college program in 2022. During the courses I’ve taken, I’ve had no complaints with anything with this school — not even billing issues. If you pay your bill on time, you should be fine. It clearly states on the contract, you must pay in full once you start. I always have, which is why I’ve never had problems. I don’t know how cancellations work, because I’ve never had to do that. Penn Foster helped me gain the education I needed to complete, to feel worthy of myself. And I am a proud alumni.

I took a years worth of credit hours for the Associate business management degree. I decided to not continue with this institution because there is no professor communication at all. Half of the online material can be googled. The only way to contact is a 1-800 number and you have no idea if you're actually talking to a licensed professional or the janitor. I tried to apply the transcripts to georgia highlands college for spring 2023, and THE TRANSCRIPTS WEREN'T REGIONALLY ACCREDITED!! So now I have to take a bunch of basic classes all over again. Absolutely do not recommend penn foster. You can go to the government student aid website and basically get a free ride through college(with pell grants) if you're a low income family.

My experience with Penn Foster College has been phenomenal. I am a student enrolled in the Bachelors of Science program in Business Management. Penn Foster put me in contact with their VA program and helped me to enroll with my post 9/11 VA benefits. I have had no issues with the school and the VA working together and all of my payments have come through on time. The classes have been up to date, well structured, and convenient for my schedule, as I am a working adult. Professors and administrative staff are available and accessible. I was able to directly transfer 21 existing credits that I have received from other schools in the past without any issue. I think Penn Foster is a great choice for students who are looking for a solid distance/online learning opportunity with a school that has been established and is well known.

Penn Foster is a scam. I enrolled in a program; however, once discovering that my employer would not accept a certificate from a non-accredited institute, I contacted Penn Foster to withdraw. I was given a mailing address to send a withdrawal letter to. Fast forward eight months later, I have a $1,009 negative report on my credit report. I called to inquire, and a representative informed me that I only had six days to cancel the program. I was not told that from the CSR nearly one year ago. They claim that I have to pay them in order to remove the negative report from the credit bureaus. How is it my fault that the CSR did not tell me that the withdrawal period for not owing charges had passed? And how is it my fault that the USPS did not deliver the letter to Penn Foster? I asked the CSR if I could send an email to withdraw and I was told no, only a written statement mailed in would be accepted. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE IF POSSIBLE. Seek classes at a local community college.

Dear Karen Trotter, Thank you for taking the time to provide a review about Penn Foster College. We welcome all feedback and use each and every suggestion to improve our student’s experience. We would like to add that each and every student situation is different and we would like to treat them independently as Penn Foster College is devoted to the educational advancement and satisfaction of all our students. I was unable to locate any communication where you were advised that cancellation request would need to be physically mailed only. Our literature states that the request can be mailed or emailed. One location this can be located is on our Marketing Site at https://www.pennfoster.edu/admissions/policies/refund-policy. We do show that you followed the cancel procedure and emailed your cancel request in 2020 under a previous program and were advised on the grace period at that time as you were within the first 6 days at the time. Penn Foster only continues to disappoint me and frustrate me. I am completing the veterinary technician program and it has only led to anxiety and frustration. They give you books, that after you pay for them, they aren't accessible after a certain amount of time. The directions are all super vague that are written and that are given to you from an actual person working at the school. No one can give you a direct answer, you end up giving yourself a head ache trying to get answers. For example, I called and asked for help about something and the only thing the person could say on the phone is, "Well, I am not sure there is anything I can do for you. I am not sure what to tell you." On top of that, there is no direct phone number for anybody or direct email. Every phone call or email you make, it goes to an email or phone number that multiple use. It takes them over 24 hrs to ever get back to you which in todays world with all the technology that there is, people should get back to you within 24 hours. it looks affordable, it is affordable, but what you should know is that you are paying for a library, for a set of books to teach yourself. There is NO direct teaching or help. If you have an externship in your studies, please re-think. All the information above, I can say goes for the externship and they say it takes a certain amount of time, but after you talk to other students you learn it is all a lie and very hard to finish in the time they give you. Not appropriate or worth your time for anyone that has a job or other responsibilities in life or for people who are hard working, educated, wanting to learn, and pro-active.

BBB I think you need to look into potentially closing this school down everyone is saying the same thing about this school no one’s lying. they put me in the mind state of Everest and everyone knows what happened with Everest. I should of checked the reviews before enrolling but I guarantee when I get done they won’t get a dollar out of me whether it’s on my credit report or not.
